I'm not a newbie. I mostly lurk. I apologize for going off topic but I bet you will know the answer.
I always thought I was super smart. I had a jerk of a younger cousin who always bragged about scoring a 140 on some public school IQ test. I never knew how I scored. When I was 39 I wanted to prove to myself that I was in fact extremely intelligent. (Also hoped to meet or surpass my jerk cousin's score.) Paid to take a test. The woman giving it said I would be disappointed no matter what because the oral test she was giving, which included following scatter tests, did not ever give scores that high. I think it was only written tests that went to and above 140. I scored a 126 and naturally her test scores could be converted into percentiles. Her written results said I had IQ 126 which put me in the 96th percentile. (I think I beat my cousin.)
Question 1) Have you hear of diff IQ tests with diff ranges whose percentile ranks would be equivalent?
Question 2) If there are multiple tests and there is a comparison, what is the IQ range for 96th percentile on the "other" possibly written test that I didn't take.
I paid a good amount of money and still feel kind of shamed by the 126 score so only ever speak in terms of the percentile.
