Booker [Senate hearing on gun violence]: These bullets hit bodies, and they liquefy organs…it takes one pull of a trigger to fire a grenade, one pull of a trigger to fire a pistol. There is a big difference between weapons of war and these weapons.

Durbin: I don't believe an AR-15 is just another gun. I think it is a killing machine, and we have ample testimony under oath that it is, and we sell them by the millions in this country.

WASHINGTON: "Students ages 12 and older will be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine to attend D.C. schools in the fall. The Office of the State Superintendent of Education announced that beginning in the 2022-23 school year, student immunization requirements include the coronavirus vaccine for all students of an age for which there is a vaccine fully approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Currently, this includes students 12 and up, according to a news release.

Unless exempted, any student ages 12 to 15 at the start of the new school year must have received the COVID-19 vaccine series or have started receiving the shot by Sept. 16. Additionally, unless exempted, any student 16 or older at the start of the new school year must have received the primary COVID-19 vaccination series or be proceeding with their series by the start of the school year."

Earlier, Representative Roy offered an amendment to the democrats gun bill, that would exempt those who live within 10 miles of the border.

Nadler's response: This amendment assumes that the United States Military, that our armed forces, are not capable of defending the borders of the United States against invasion from Mexico or Canada, or, I suppose, Naval forces from our sea borders, and instead, we must deputize civilians with unpermitted weapons, with weapons unpermitted by this bill, to do the job becasue the military is uncapable of it. This is absurd, not worthy or further comment, and I oppose the amendment.

Earlier in the gun hearing, representative Bishop got Nadler to admit that their gun bill would ban weapons in common use in the United States today. He then went on to quote the Supreme Court decision [Heller] that said:

"the sorts of weapons protected are those in common use at the time."
