because this focused bit of Great-Britain's institution of slavery they left behind when they were kicked out of North America and America began its own country in 1789, has been tough to eradicate, (even requiring a major war that tore the new country apart to finish-off Britain's hateful legacy),
but that was just in the North American British colonies.
Do you know why Europe made slavery illegal? They didn't care about the AFricans. They didn't care Africa had a slavery-based booming rich economy, until Africa had enslaved between 1-3 million white Europeans Including some nobles, and then Europe had to do something. So called 'Barbary Pirates' would kidnap travelers on the mediterranean, and other slavers would kidnap them while going to the holy land, and sell them to the caliphates. So European monarchs, under pressure from its common peoples, made slavery illegal and tried to shut down Africa's slave trade. Africa told them to go pound sand—they had a very rich economy based on their slave trade, so Europe had to go to war with AFrica to get them to stop slave-Trading.

Captain Edmund Pellew himself, rescured 118 white europeans held as slaves after his bombardment of Algiers.
But AFrica didn't behave, and kept kidnapping and enslaving white europeans. So Europe fought the 2nd Barbary war against Africa to make it finally stop its slave trade.
The second Barbary war held…but only because Europe took control of north African countries. France Began the French foreign Legion to route out pockets of slavery and keep order.
So Europe made slavery illegal to stop enslavement of their own people…and that the Barbary wars also stopped enslavement of Africans was just collateral accomplishment.
There are still 15 countries on the planet where slavery is still legal, and where it is still practiced. and do you notice how nobody is fighting to end slavery in them?
Its all a boosted, driven story to weaken America.
