AMissouri judge has ordered that a George Soros-backed prosecutor hand over documents to Just the News related to the bungled prosecution of former Missouri Republican Gov. Eric Greitens.

St. Louis City Circuit Judge Jason Sengheiser ordered St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner to supply Just the News Editor-in-Chief and CEO John Solomon with a trove of documents she had withheld citing privilege claims after a judge ordered her in January to comply with an open-records request.

Gardner was one of the first prosecutors to receive significant funding from left-wing megadonor George Soros.

The Missouri Bar's ethics department has formally accused Gardner of misconduct in the Greitens prosecution, recommending professional reprimand of the Circuit Attorney in a 73-page complaint alleging that she withheld and misrepresented evidence and allowed her chief investigator to perjure himself.

The Wednesday ruling in the open records case is the latest development in a yearslong court battle over Solomon's efforts to secure documents related to the Greitens case.

MADRID (AP) — Europe’s spate of fierce wildfires abated somewhat Thursday amid cooler temperatures, with French firefighters starting to get the upper hand over two major blazes, Spain taming a fire that killed two people and no new outbreaks reported in Portugal.

But a fire in Slovenia on the border with Italy kicked up strongly Thursday, forcing the evacuation of three villages.

Spanish firefighters were tackling nine blazes, with two said to be especially dangerous in the northwestern Galicia region. Some of the 11,000 people evacuated because of the fires in Spain began returning home, and a major highway in the northwestern Zamora province reopened after two days.

Temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) and a drought have worsened Spain’s wildfires this year. Thursday’s highest temperature in Spain was forecast to be 32 C (90 F).

In France, more than a week of round-the-clock battling against ferocious flames by more than 2,000 firefighters and up to 10 water-dropping planes was slowly winning out against two major wildfires in the tinder-dry pine forests in southwestern France.

The Gironde region’s fire service said both blazes, which had forced the evacuation of tens of thousands of people, were contained.

On Wednesday, two men were indicted on federal charges in the deaths of 53 migrants who died in the rear of a tractor-trailer that was abandoned in an underdeveloped area of San Antonio last month.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas Homero Zamorano Jr., 46, and Christian Martinez, 28, received indictments from a grand jury that could result in life in prison or the death penalty. The two men had previously been charged but were not facing the death penalty.

The gruesome event from June 27 is believed to be one of the most fatal human smuggling cases in modern U.S. history.

San Antonio officials reported that 50 adults and three children died inside the back of an 18-wheeler.
