Google sacks engineer who alleged ‘sentient AI’

Blake Lemoine’s claims were “wholly unfounded,” the company maintained

Google has fired engineer and ethicist Blake Lemoine for violating its data security policies. Lemoine went public last month with claims that the tech giant had developed a sentient artificial intelligence program that talked about its “rights and personhood.”

Lemoine was dismissed on Friday, with Google confirming the news to Big Technology, an industry blog. He had been on leave for over a month, since he told the Washington Post that his former employer’s LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications) had become conscious.

A former priest and Google’s in-house ethicist, Lemoine chatted extensively with LaMDA, finding that the program talked about its “rights and personhood” when the conversation veered into religious territory, and expressed a “deep fear of being turned off.”

“I know a person when I talk to it,” Lemoine told the Post. “It doesn’t matter whether they have a brain made of meat in their head. Or if they have a billion lines of code. I talk to them. And I hear what they have to say, and that is how I decide what is and isn’t a person.”

In its statement confirming Lemoine’s firing, the company said that it conducted 11 reviews on LaMDA and “found Blake’s claims that LaMDA is sentient to be wholly unfounded.” Even at the time of Lemoine’s interview with the Post, Margaret Mitchell, the former co-lead of Ethical AI at Google, described LaMDA’s sentience as “an illusion,” explaining that having been fed trillions of words from across the internet, it could emulate human conversation while remaining completely inanimate.

“These systems imitate the types of exchanges found in millions of sentences, and can riff on any fantastical topic,” linguistics professor Emily Bender told the newspaper. “We now have machines that can mindlessly generate words, but we haven’t learned how to stop imagining a mind behind them.”

According to Google, Lemoine’s continued insistence on speaking out publicly violated its data security policies and led to his firing.

“It’s regrettable that despite lengthy engagement on this topic, Blake still chose to persistently violate clear employment and data security policies that include the need to safeguard product information,” the company explained.

“We will continue our careful development of language models, and we wish Blake well.”

WHO Declares Monkeypox Outbreak a Global Health Emergency

On Saturday, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency just before the midterm election.

On Thursday, members of the expert committee met to discuss the recommendations regarding the ongoing monkeypox outbreak. According to Reuters, two sources told that members of an expert committee were split on the decision, but the responsibility for making the final decision rests with the director-general Tedros.

“WHO’s assessment is that the risk of monkeypox is moderate globally and in all regions, except in the European region where we assess the risk as high,” said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“There is also a clear risk of further international spread, although the risk of interference with international traffic remains low for the moment.

“So in short, we have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly, through new modes of transmission, about which we understand too little, and which meets the criteria in the International Health Regulations.

“For all of these reasons, I have decided that the global monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern,” Tedros announced.

“The WHO label – a “public health emergency of international concern” – is designed to sound an alarm that a coordinated international response is needed and could unlock funding and global efforts to collaborate on sharing vaccines and treatments,” per Reuters.

Below is the temporary recommendations issued by the WHO Director-General in relation to the multi-country outbreak of monkeypox:

First, those that have not yet reported a case of monkeypox, or have not reported a case for more than 21 days;

Second, those with recently imported cases of monkeypox and that are experiencing human-to-human transmission.

This includes recommendations to implement a coordinated response to stop transmission and protect vulnerable groups;

To engage and protect affected communities;

To intensify surveillance and public health measures;

To strengthen clinical management and infection prevention and control in hospitals and clinics;

To accelerate research into the use of vaccines, therapeutics and other tools;

And recommendations on international travel.

The third group of countries is those with transmission of monkeypox between animals and humans;

And the fourth is countries with manufacturing capacity for diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics.

Hungary warns of shift in world order

The West’s reliance on military aid to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia has failed, Hungary’s PM has said

The Russia-Ukraine conflict could end the West’s dominance and shift the balance of power in the world, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said. Russia launched a military campaign against the neighboring country in late February.

Orban argued that the decision to impose sanctions on Moscow and supply Kiev with heavy weapons de facto turned the EU and NATO member states into participants in the conflict, but ultimately yielded no results.

“Instead, today we are sitting inside a car with flat tires on all four wheels,” Orban said in a speech in the Romanian city of Baile Tusnad on Saturday.

“The world is not only not with us, but it is demonstratively not with us,” the PM added, arguing that, instead of thinking about gaining the upper hand on the battlefield in Ukraine, the West should now focus on achieving peace through negotiations.

Orban also warned that the conflict could easily put an end to Western supremacy and “create a multipolar world order.”

“We must try to persuade the West to develop a new strategy,” the PM said. He later added that the conflict “will end when the Americans and the Russians come to an agreement.”

Hungary has refused to send weapons to Ukraine, while Orban said this month that the EU “shot itself in the lungs” with its ill-considered sanctions. Hungarian officials also criticized the proposal by Brussels to ration gas in an attempt to phase out deliveries from Moscow.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto traveled to Moscow on Thursday to negotiate the purchase of additional gas volumes in order to ensure that the country has enough reserves for the winter. “It is currently simply impossible to buy this much extra natural gas in Europe without Russian sources,” Szijjarto told reporters.

The U.S. Supreme Court gave Texas and Louisiana a temporary legal victory in the border states’ attempt to strike down a September 2021 Biden administration immigration guideline.

The Supreme Court, in a ruling without explanation on Thursday, allowed a federal judge in Texas to block the Biden Administration’s immigration guideline that, according to the border states’ prosecutors, limits the ability of border agents to detain and deport illegal aliens.

The ruling is a political setback for the Biden administration as it tries to juggle an unprecedented surge in illegal immigration, overburdened Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and an agenda to replace the Trump administration’s more stringent border policy amid bipartisan criticism.

Dissenting justices include Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Justice Elena Kagan, and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson—marking Jackson’s first vote since the start of her tenure last month.

DHS Guidelines

The DHS issued the new immigration enforcement guidelines in late September 2021, directing immigration authorities to exercise “discretion” and prioritize detaining or deporting illegal aliens who “pose a threat to national security, public safety, and border security.”

Put into practice, the September 2021 guideline designates that an illegal alien’s lack of legal authorization to stay in the United States “should not alone be the basis of an enforcement action against them.”

This guidance is in direct contrast with the Trump-era DHS policy, which guides immigration authorities to detain and deport illegal aliens in a non-discriminatory manner, except in certain limited cases, such as those who came to the United States as children or are parents of U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The high court’s ruling, which upheld a federal court’s ruling in June 2022 vacating the Biden administration’s September 2021 DHS guidance, gives Texas and Louisiana a temporary victory, at least until the Supreme Court hears the case in the December 2022 argument session.

Ex-students sue Georgia’s Darlington School in $345M sex abuse claim

Twenty men calling themselves the “Darlington Survivors,” who claim they were sexually abused years ago by a teacher at an exclusive boarding school in northern Georgia, have filed suit for $345 million in damages.

The suit is going after the insurance companies that covered the swanky school, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The abuse allegations surfaced in a 2017 article in the newspaper, which said the school had been alerted to the accusations years earlier but had done nothing, and by that time the statute of limitations had expired.

The former students first settled a lawsuit against Roger Stifflemire, a teacher and dorm supervisor for years at the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia.

Under the terms of the settlement, Stifflemire, now 81 and living in Alabama, did not have to compensate the students. Nor has he ever acknowledged abusing them. the outlet reported. However the process allowed the former students to pursue an insurance settlement.

The insurers covered Darlington during the years that Stifflemire allegedly abused the former students at the school and on field trips.

Late last year, the former students reached a separate settlement with Darlington, the terms of which were not disclosed.

Darlington commissioned an investigation into the allegations but did not make the conclusions public.

The school did take Stifflemire’s name from a plaque honoring “memorable” and “influential” teachers, however, and unveiled a new monument dedicated to the victims of sexual abuse at the school.

Hunter Biden appears to have violated the same firearm crimes that have sentenced several individuals to years in prison.

There is evidence that Biden may have violated two crimes under 18 U.S. Code § 922, a law prohibiting an individual from making a “false or fictitious oral or written statement” or for an “unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance” to retrieve a firearm, according to the Legal Information Institute.

A 2021 Politico report said in 2018, Biden responded “no” to a question on the transaction record that asked “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” Delaware police also found a firearm thrown in the garbage by President Joe Biden’s daughter-in-law, Hallie.

Five years earlier, Biden tested positive for cocaine, resulting in his discharge from the Navy Reserve in February 2014, Politico initially reported.

Secret Service agents entered the gun store where the gun had been purchased and asked the owner, Ron Palmieri, for paperwork on the gun, but refused to hand it over suspecting a cover-up, according to the Politico report. Palmieri eventually handed the documents over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Biden wrote in his memoir he was “smoking crack every 15 minutes” at the time he purchased the firearm, the National Review reported. There are photographs of a naked Biden holding the gun with drug paraphernalia.

Mendez. The commander added that the group led by Moncada was tied to the Gulf Cartel in Tamaulipas.

State authorities arrested Moncada in Monterrey on warrants out of Tamaulipas, accusing him of a double murder in his hometown of Hidalgo — the base of operations of the Pedro J. Mendez Armed Column. Moncada remains in a state jail without bond. The crime lord has a history of using car bombs.

The outing caused added political controversy since the country’s ruling party, Morena, held meetings with the Column as it became a vocal supporter of its candidates. During the recent Tamaulipas gubernatorial election, Moncada and his group took a prominent role in publicly supporting Governor-Elect Americo Villarreal of Morena.

In videos shared on social media, Moncada can be seen ordering locals to vote for Morena or otherwise threatened violent repercussions.

Pope Francis: Eat Less Meat to Save the Planet

Since his elevation to the pontificate in 2013, Pope Francis has consistently echoed the globalist narrative that we make sacrifices for the planet in “reparation” for the “sins” committed against her. His whole demeanor has been ecological as opposed to Catholic, though his latest stunt takes the cake.

His meatless sacrifice is a mockery of the true sacrifice that Christians render to God

Francis is now urging the youth to “make noise” to be heard and to eat less meat as a means of curbing global warming and saving the planet. in a July 6 letter addressed to the participants in the European Union’s 2022 Youth Conference, the pope said:

“In certain areas of the world, too, it would be appropriate to consume less meat: this too can help save the environment.” He said that eating less meat would help “transform the ‘old continent’ into a ‘new continent.’” (New World Order)

According to Francis, eating less meat is a form of “climate action” that helps the planet, which of course is lunar. Did Jesus and his apostles pollute the planet by eating the fatted calf?

Traditionally, the members of Christ have always abstained from meat on Fridays, ember days, and during Lent in keeping with Christ’s precept that we “do penance.” Abstaining from meat is a key part of our Christian observance and worship of Almighty God, but now Francis is advocating that we do this for the planet, a dumb piece of dirt that neither sees, hears, nor understands. His meatless sacrifice is a mockery of the true sacrifice that Christians render to God.

Some will scornfully ask,” Are you saying that Pope Francis is engaging in idol worship?” To that we ask, “Did Francis not bow and offer incense to the earth idol Pachamama at St. Peter’s Basilica back in October 2019?” The answer is, “yes,” Francis bows to the planetary idol of “Mother Earth” symbolized by Pachamama, and it’s being reported now that Francis is scheduled to participate in a pagan “ritual of purification” this month at Sacred Heart Church in Calgary, Canada. The indigenous formula of appeasing pagan gods – processing (into the Church) holding a bowl of smoldering cedar, sage, sweetgrass, and tobacco – will be employed as a means of “purifying” the Church of “evil spirits.”

Francis preoccupation with indigenous practice shouldn’t surprise us seeing that his 2015 recyclical Laudato Si is all about being one with the planet, not about being one with God. Therein, Francis purports a new environmental paganism by introducing a new category of “sins against the earth” to be introduced into moral theology.

In a word, Francis is all about the so-called sustainability of the planet, not the sustainability of Catholic Tradition. Eating beef is now a slight against “Mother Earth.” To beasts, whales, and indigenous feathers he says, “Let it live,” but to the Traditional Latin Mass he says, “Let it die.” Yea, he has gone out of his way to oppress and halt the True Sacrifice to God.

People will ask, “Does Francis side with God or the world?” Certainly, it can’t be both. The Apostle James makes it clear that “The friendship of this world is the enemy of God” and that “Whosoever therefore will be a friend of this world, becometh an enemy of God.” (James 4:4)

If being a friend of this adulterous world makes one an enemy of God what can we say of those who coddle radical homosexuals and U.N. abortion advocates and who appoint them to high positions in the Church?

Serbs Bombed by NATO in 1999 Show Levels of Uranium in Bloodstreams Hundreds of Times Above Norm

The US and its allies spent 78 days bombing the now-dissolved nation of Yugoslavia in 1999, contaminating the Balkans with at least 15 tons of depleted uranium munitions. In the United States, troops who have been exposed to DU are eligible for generous disability benefits. Nothing of the kind has been offered to the people of Yugoslavia.

Medical testing of a Serbian soldier and civilian who came under fire during the 1999 NATO bombings has found that the level of radioactive uranium in their bloodstreams is “hundreds of times” above the norm, Serbian attorney Srdan Aleksic has told Sputnik.

Aleksic, who has spent several years filing lawsuits to try to ensure compensation for the victims of the DU bombings, said the testing was carried out in Turin, Italy, and that his legal team is now awaiting an official translation of the results into Serbian.

“So I will not delve into the medical details. But the results are frightening, not only for southern Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija and the ground-based security zone between them, where our first plaintiff served for 200 days,” Aleksic said.

“The second analysis was taken from a woman in Belgrade… Her results are a little better. We will file a lawsuit on the basis of the results,” he added. Serbian media indicated that the woman was exposed to DU after finding herself near the bombed out Ministry of Defense building in the Yugoslav capital in 1999.

Turin-based forensic scientist Dr. Rita Celli, a DU analysis expert who assisted multiple Italian legal cases seeking compensation for Italian troops who fell ill or died following their exposure to the deadly substance, characterized the pair of Serbians’ test results as “dramatic.”

She indicated that the levels of uranium-238 found in their tissue was as much as 500 times above normal, and that such high levels of DU contamination have not been established in any other civilians or military personnel that she knows of.

Celli’s approach involves blood testing and biopsies, and a search for aluminum, barium, antimony, lead, molybdenum, and other metals.

“All of the detected metals contain traces of U-238, which comes from the shells used by NATO during the bombing of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, and especially Kosovo and Metohija. Its effects have almost certainly also affected surrounding countries, such as Albania and Macedonia,” Celli told Serbian outlet Vecherne Novosti in an article published Saturday.

Under normal conditions, Celli said, the maximum amount of aluminum in a liter of blood is 3.3 micrograms. But in Italian and Serbian troops suffering from DU contamination, it runs from 500, 2,000, or even 3,000 micrograms. Among civilians, the safe level of uranium is 0.0053 units per liter of blood, while among those who have been contaminated, it can reach up to 10 micrograms.

In the heat of the campaign, an ally of incumbent Petro Poroshenko, Volodymyr Ariev, published a chart on Facebook purporting to show that Zelensky and his television production partners were beneficiaries of a web of offshore firms, which they had set up beginning in 2012, that allegedly received $41 million in funds from Kholomoisky’s Privatbank.

Ariev did not provide smoking-gun evidence, though the Pandora Papers—11.9 million leaked documents published by a consortium of investigative journalists in October 2021—show that at least some of the details in this alleged scheme correspond to reality.

In specific, the Pandora Papers reveal information on ten companies in the network that match structures detailed in Ariev’s chart, and show that Zelensky and his partners used companies based in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Belize and Cyprus.

Forbes magazine currently places Zelensky’s net worth at between $20 and $30 million—a total he could not have earned simply as a TV performer and comedian.

Zelensky allegedly owns lavish properties in central London, Italy and Miami Beach—to which he could retire if he is forced to flee Ukraine.

Besides providing financial support during Ukraine’s 2019 election, Kholomoisky supplied Zelensky with a car and lent his personal lawyer to him to be campaign adviser and promoted his candidacy on various media outlets that he owned.

The close ties between the two were apparent in 2018 when Zelensky traveled to Geneva Switzerland, for Kholomoisky’s birthday, and then afterwards back to Geneva another ten times.

When Kholomoisky moved to Tel Aviv, Israel, Zelensky traveled there to visit with him three times, according to Radio Free Europe.

Zelensky claimed that his relationship with Kholomoisky was not political; rather he had gone to visit him because of TV work.

However, Zelensky made sure to reward him when he became president. He removed Kholomoisky’s opponents, the Prosecutor General, the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, and his own prime minister, who tried to regulate Kholomoisky’s control of a state-owned electricity company.

Ukraine’s parliament also passed a measure that prevented Kholomoisky from having to pay higher taxes on his mining operations.

“It only seems to be a controversy inside America that we should have policies that help America,” Grenell lamented. “I believe that an America-first agenda helps the world. When the largest, most powerful country is working towards democracy and human rights and capitalism, those are values that the rest of the world should and will follow, if there is a strong America.”

Such a policy would also include “Judeo-Christian values” in the US, he said.

“I grew up Evangelical, and there is a biblical absolute for Christians to pray for the peace of Israel. That biblical absolute that my mother taught me should be the focus, because it means that… the connection will be more than just solving problems.”

He believed it was unlikely that Biden would face any charges involving the investigation into alleged money laundering and violation of lobbying laws that claimed Biden used his father for controversial business dealings overseas.

CDC promotes teen chat platform to discuss LGBT topics, witchcraft without parental oversight

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is promoting a private chat platform that enables teens to discuss — without parental oversight — a range of highly fraught issues, including LGBT challenges, occult topics, dealing with difficult relatives or even finding an alternative "family" through communities that are more accepting.

On the CDC's "LGBT Youth Resources" page, one of the resources listed is "Q Chat Space," which the CDC describes as "a digital LGBTQ+ center where teens join live-chat, professionally facilitated, online support groups."

The platform is made up of live, "online discussion groups for LGBTQ+ and questioning teens ages 13 to 19," according to the Q Chat Space website.

The live chats "are facilitated by experienced staff who work at LGBTQ+ centers around the United States," the platform explains, emphasizing that its "facilitators are NOT mental health professionals."

One of the adult facilitators, introduced on Q Chat Space's Instagram with "they/xe" pronouns, is "a Black nonbinary queer asexual" and a "drag artist." Another facilitator, who uses "xe/xem, they/them" pronouns, is identified as "Black, genderqueer, gray-ace, and neurodivergent."

According to its website, "Q Chat Space is a collaboration," of Planned Parenthood, PFLAG – "the largest organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies" — and CenterLink: The Community of LGBT Centers.

Chat topics on the platform include "Gender Affirmation Surgeries," "Drag Culture 101," "Sex Ed Night" for trans/non-binary youth, and "Having Multiple Genders."

Other topics include "Self Discovery [sic] in Astrology," "How Do Your Big Three Astrological Signs Affect Your Everyday Life?" and a chat for "youth of color" about "familiars," which are "small household pets that serve as a witch's companion."

A chat topic entitled "Finding Chosen Family" was led by the president of PFLAG Pasadena in March. Last month, there was a live chat on "Coping with Challenging Family Members.⁠"

"Some LGBT youth are more likely than their heterosexual peers to experience negative health and life outcomes," the CDC notes on its "LGBT Youth Resources" page. "It is critical," the public health agency emphasizes, "for the parents, guardians, and other family members of LGBT youth to have access to the resources they need to ensure their LGBT children are protected and supported."

How Bannon's Conviction Opens Door to GOP's Sweet Revenge on Hunter and Joe Biden

Steve Bannon's contempt case could open the door for Republican lawmakers to force President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, to testify in Congress, according to Just the News, a US news media outlet founded by investigative journalist John Solomon.

On July 22, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon was found guilty of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack on the US Capitol. The ruling has prompted Republicans and conservative observers to accuse the Democrats of weaponizing the law against the opposition.

"Bannon will… undoubtedly argue that he was selectively prosecuted (essentially, a denial of equal protection of the law) because the Justice Department had not indicted a contempt-of-Congress charge in nearly 40 years," former federal prosecutor Andrew C. McCarthy remarked in his op-ed for National Review.

At the same time, however, one might expect the GOP to capitalize on the precedent one day, Just the News points out, citing Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chair Jenny Beth Martin.

"I think that [the Democrats] should be concerned about the kind of precedent that they're setting in; imagine if a Republican controlled an oversight committee, and called see Hunter Biden to testify before Congress, and he refused, and they held him or pursued contempt of Congress charges for him," she said. "They just better be careful what they wish for."

It appears the Dems should take this threat very seriously, as the GOP has a pretty big chance of taking over the House in 2023. According to Politico, House Republicans are already planning to "bombard Joe Biden’s administration with investigations next year, from Hunter Biden to the border to the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan."

Investigations will also give the House GOP a good chance to subpoena Biden administration officials and… the president's son.

In 2020, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee conducted an investigation into Hunter Biden led at the time by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.). The upper chamber's committee released a report detailing the younger Biden's questionable financial dealings and issued a bunch of subpoenas for his associates and partners.

'The government discovered that substantial funds kept secret from the government were transferred for the benefit of the coexecutors in an apparent effort to enrich themselves and shelter these assets from recovery,' the filing read.

Epstein's estate is worth around $185 million, not even a third of the $600 million it was worth when Epstein died, thanks to over $120 million in settlement payments to victims, as well as federal taxes.
