Sayyed Nasrallah reveals first-time details about US Marines operation
In the second episode of Al Mayadeen's "40 and Beyond" documentary series, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah disclosed, for the first time, information about the targeting of the US Marines headquarters in Beirut in 1989 and several other operations that were carried out during that period, as well as details about the assassinations targeting left-wing parties figures in Lebanon.
In an interview with Al Mayadeen CEO, Ghassan Ben Jeddou, in the second episode of "40 and Beyond", Sayyed Nasrallah explained that in the 80s period in Lebanon, at least three to four real organizations, which were independent of each other and not affiliated with Hezbollah’s formations and leadership, were active on Lebanese soil.
Among those organizations, Sayyed Nasrallah said, was the Lebanese Islamic Jihad - a real, limited, and small formation, noting that all claims about this organization being fake are false.
The Lebanese Resistance leader emphasized that the members of these organizations had had their own beliefs and visions in dealing with what was happening during that period, indicating that these groups believed that the US was protecting the Israeli occupation, which paved the way for targeting foreign US forces in Lebanon.
Sayyed Nasrallah said that for Hezbollah, the members of these small groups carried out quality operations that Hezbollah might or might not have theoretically approved of.
It is noteworthy that on October 23, 1983, the US Marines headquarters in Beirut was blasted, leaving 241 Americans dead. Minutes later, a suicide bombing targeted French barracks about six kilometers away, killing 58 French paratroopers, according to French officials.
The Hezbollah Secretary-General explained that, initially, these organizations did not intend to detain hostages, yet the actual implementation came in retaliation for detaining some of their members, coupled with the aim of preventing their execution.
The Lebanese Resistance leader considered that had Hezbollah taken the decision to approach one of the groups and tell its members that some of their acts and operations were unsuitable, they wouldn’t have listened.
Reality of Leftist figures' assassinations
Regarding the assassinations that were carried out against left-wing parties figures in Lebanon, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that neither Hezbollah nor Hezbollah-affiliated formations, nor organizations close to Hezbollah had anything to do with them, mainly because such operations do not align with the beliefs of Hezbollah.
The Lebanese Resistance party puts confronting “Israel” as a top priority in mind and was based from the very beginning on the doctrine of resisting and fighting it.
In regard to the confusion that arose in some left-wing parties, Sayyed Nasrallah explained that these parties had had some problems with some Islamic organizations in Lebanon, which Hezbollah had friendship with, a relationship that might have been the source of this confusion.
However, the Secretary-General underlined that he does not know if such Islamic organizations had had any hand in these assassinations, indicating that Hezbollah was not concerned with investigating this matter, nor did it have the capability or the time to look into its details.
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Hezbollah and the 30th anniversary of the election of Sayyed Nasrallah as the Lebanese party's Secretary-General, Al Mayadeen produced a five-part documentary series, featuring a rare interview with the Resistance leader dating back to 20 years.

Mossad false flag on the way – another 9/11?
Wednesday’s report by corporate media outlet Yahoo News, outlining alleged plans by Iran to assassinate senior US officials, including former President Donald Trump, in retaliation for the January 2020 drone strike killing of Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s elite Quds Force unit, should come as little surprise to onlookers.
Indeed, following the assassination of the Iranian General, the Islamic Republic responded by firing a barrage of ballistic missiles at the US Ain al-Asad airbase in neighbouring Iraq, leaving 110 US servicemen with ‘traumatic brain injuries’ according to The White House, a euphemism for deaths according to Tehran.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi also reiterated in January of this year that unless Trump and then-US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are handed over for trial - an admittedly highly-unlikely scenario - that Tehran would pursue revenge through other means, leaving no doubt as to the lengths that the Islamic Republic is prepared to go in order to avenge its’ foremost military commander.
The timing of Wednesday’s ‘leak’ however, cannot be described as anything less than suspicious.
On the same day, US President Joe Biden marked his first official visit to the Middle East when he touched down in Israel, with "Tel Aviv" being a long-time opponent of Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution saw the US and UK-backed Shah Pahlavi overthrown and replaced with the anti-Western and anti-Zionist Ayatollah Khomeini.
The seemingly main theme of Biden’s fleeting visit to "Israel" was the containment of Iran within the region, with the US leader and Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid signing a joint strategic declaration affirming that the Washington would use ‘all elements of its national power’ to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, in spite of the production of such weapons being strictly prohibited in the Islamic Republic owing to a fatwa issued by Ayatollah Khameni.
This markedly more belligerent tone that Biden has taken towards Iran as a result of his Israeli visit, and the ‘leaking’ of the alleged Iranian assassination plot on the same day, would suggest that the current US administration is now on a trajectory where conflict with Iran may become a distinct possibility, and that the aforementioned intelligence report may, in fact, be foreshadowing a false flag operation intended to create that very scenario.
Indeed, the involvement of Israeli intelligence in false flag operations intended to lead the United States into wars on behalf of "Israel" has a recent enough history.
On the morning of September 11th, 2001, as planes crashed into the World Trade Centre, a New Jersey housewife noticed another worrying sight from her apartment window.
Three young men, kneeling on the roof of a removals van in the apartment block’s car park, appeared to be in a celebratory mood in spite of the utter chaos unfolding in front of them, dancing and high-fiving each other and even taking photos as the Towers collapsed.
Reporting this incident as well the vehicle’s registration number to the authorities, the van would be stopped by armed police later that afternoon, with 5 men, aged between 22 and 27, detained.
To the puzzlement of authorities, the men turned out to be Israeli citizens, with the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, announcing upon his arrest “We are Israeli. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are the problem.”

In what would arouse suspicion even further from the arresting, $4,700 in cash was discovered on one of the men and two foreign passports were found on another. Box cutters similar to those used by the 9/11 hijackers were also found in the van, as well as traces of explosives.
Having obtained a warrant to search the premises of the men’s employer, Urban Moving System, the FBI would question the firm’s owner, Dominick Suter, also an Israeli citizen, who would initially cooperate with their inquiries before hastily leaving the United States three days later without carrying out a planned follow-up interview.
After 71 days in custody, and following an intervention from the then-Bush administration, the five men, who would become known as the Dancing Israelis, were released and deported back to Israel, where they would later confirm in an interview that they were intelligence operatives, part of a larger Mossad spy ring exposed after 9/11, sent to ‘document the event’.
Indeed, that very event would prove highly beneficial to Israeli interests, with 9/11 being used as the pretext to launch the 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq that "Tel Aviv" had stringently lobbied for, the 2011 Syrian regime change operation also supported by Israel, and now, with the possibility that Mossad may stage a false flag operation in the US involving the assassination of senior US officials, a potential devastating war with Iran.

Raisi to Macron: West-backed IAEA resolution aimed to pressure Tehran
Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron held Saturday a phone conversation during which they discussed regional and international developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Iran and France.
During the two-hour conversation, Raisi pointed to the significant increase in political and economic cooperation between Iran and several countries and confirmed that the US sanctions imposed on Iran would inflict losses on the global economy, especially the European economy.
Iran is ready to play a role in ending Ukraine war
The Iranian President emphasized that "had it not been for the security role that the Islamic Republic played in the region, especially the fight against terrorism and Tehran's support for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of other countries in the region, ISIL [Islamic State] would declare a caliphate in Europe today."
The Iranian leader underlined that the solution to regional problems lies in the hands of countries of the region, deeming any foreign interference in the region as being against security and stability.
Raisi expressed Iran's readiness to play a role in ending the Ukraine way through political dialogue, dismissing war as a solution to resolve disputes between states.
Western-backed IAEA resolution aimed to pressure Tehran
He also criticized the US and Europe's non-constructive actions, pointing out that the Western-backed International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution was a crisis-making action that aimed to pressure Tehran.
On his part, Macron stressed the importance of Iran's role in the region, adding that "France supports Iran's stances on opposing the military operations by some countries in the region against Syria."
The French President also pointed to Paris' efforts to bring the Iranian nuclear talks to a conclusion.

Zaporozhye region head signs decree on referendum to join Russia
The head of the administration of the Zaporozhye Region, Yevgeny Balitsky, signed a decree, on Saturday, announcing the start of preparations for a referendum on joining Russia and the creation of an election commission.
"At the initiative of residents of the Zaporozhye Region, a referendum on the issue of our region joining Russia will be held in autumn. Currently, we are carrying out preparatory work… I have signed a decree on the establishment of an election commission of the Zaporozhye Region to ensure transparency and legitimacy of the referendum procedure and to protect the electoral rights of citizens," Balitsky said in a statement published on the administration's Telegram channel.
A special commission for conducting elections and a referendum was also declared by the Kherson Region government later in the day. The seven members of the body will each serve a three-year term.
"According to the international practice, we will establish this [future path] through holding elections and referendums," the administration said in a statement. Local officials emphasized that the Kherson Region, which is now governed by the Russian military, has every right to determine its own future.
Earlier, on July 14, the head of the Zaporozhye interim administration said a referendum on the region's accession to Russia will take place in the fall.
Zaporozhye Military and Civil Administration chief Yevgeny Palitsky said more than 60% of the region's population see themselves as independent from Ukraine and an entity that will be part of Russia in the future.
"Despite the lies emanating from the Ukrainian and foreign channels, we see the truth, we talk to the people, and we know the path on which we want to embark," Palitsky added.

China promises 'strong measures' if Pelosi visits Taiwan
The British Financial Times reported, on Saturday, that in case Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, goes forward with the anticipated visit to Taiwan in August, China has openly warned of "strong measures".
Six sources with knowledge of the Chinese warnings said they were much more severe than previous threats Beijing has made when it disagrees with US actions or Taiwan policy.
However, according to one individual, China has previously indicated "stronger opposition" to the US in private. Other people, with knowledge of the circumstance, claimed that the private language went even farther by speculating on a potential military response.
Regarding whether the administration had asked Pelosi to postpone her trip, the National Security Council declined to comment. The Speaker made her own decisions, according to John Kirby, chief of strategic communications for the NSC, who stated on Friday that the NSC staff gave "context, facts, and geopolitical relevant information."

Majority of Americans oppose Biden's performance: Poll
An opinion poll, published on Saturday, showed a decline in the popularity of US President Joe Biden, indicating that he "holds a 40% job approval and 53% job disapproval."
In the same poll, former President Donald Trump edged two of his potential Democratic rivals in the upcoming presidential elections, incumbent President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders, if Trump decides to run again for the White House, according to the poll.
The poll conducted by Emmerson College in Boston, indicated that Trump advanced by 3 percentage points over President Biden, as 46% of Americans chose the former president, while 43% expressed their support for the current President, and Trump advanced, according to the poll, on Senator Bernie Sanders with a 45% to 40%.
Following President Biden’s trip to West Asia, 40% of voters disapproved of the President’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. In parallel, 24% of voters approved this step with 14% that remained neutral and 36% that have not heard of the issue altogether.
The Emerson College poll, conducted on July 19-20, included 1,078 registered voters throughout the United States of America.

Brexit blamed for Dover port logjam
Unions, port officials, and the French authorities blamed Brexit on Saturday as thousands of holidaymakers faced long delays trying to reach Europe via the English Channel port of Dover.
UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss laid the blame on Paris, insisting that "the French authorities have not put enough people on the border."
But the French rejected claims that the gridlock was caused by understaffing.
Border checks and extra paperwork for freight traffic were reintroduced when Britain left the European Union last year, ending free movement for people and goods in the bloc.

French lawmaker Pierre-Henri Dumont, whose constituency includes the French Channel port of Calais, called the travel chaos "an aftermath of Brexit."

The prefect of the Hauts-de-France region, Georges-Francois Leclerc, affirmed that France had "done its job" by increasing its border staff in Dover from 120 to 200.
Leclerc blamed the traffic jams on an accident on the M20 on Friday for the late arrival of French border agency staff at their posts in Dover.
But he suggested the port itself had not done enough to handle the increased traffic, which typically jumps from 5,000 to 10,000 vehicles daily during the busy summer.
The prefect told reporters in Lille that all French staff were in position at 9:45 am (0845 GMT) instead of 8:30 am.
