BOSTON —
A member of a white supremacist group and two other people were arrested Saturday in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston as they marched and chanted during a meeting of LGBTQ community members.
City officials said the group,National Socialist Club or NSC-131,was protesting during a drag queen story hour event at the Loring Greenough House.
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden confirmed Chris Hood, founder of the group, was one of the people placed under arrest.
Richie Cadet was nearby coordinating a campaign door knock event. She documented the protest that had a group of people marching and chanting, "Pedo scum. Off our streets," as they unfurled a banner containing the same words.
"It turned out they were calling people within the LGBTQ community pedophiles," Cadet said. "They definitely were saying certain words that should never be said about anybody."
“It’s clear that Boston is a waypoint in the crusade of hate launched five years ago in Charlottesville. The presence of white supremacists at a Jamaica Plain book reading today, like their downtown Boston march earlier this month, is at once a disgrace and a warning. Society everywhere is targeted by these groups, and society everywhere must reject them," Hayden said.
The names of the other two people who were arrested were not immediately released.
"It’s no coincidence that these cowardly groups from outside our city continue to target Boston as we showcase how representative leadership, empowered communities, and bold policies can have immediate impact. We are prepared and will not be intimidated in our work to make Boston a city for everyone. We remain ready for citywide deployment of extra public safety resources with a zero tolerance approach to any groups looking to intimidate or harass residents in our city," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said in a statement.
The National Socialist Club is considered a neo-Nazi group by the Anti-Defamation League. They said Hood founded the group in Massachusetts in 2019.
The group has chapters in all six New England States. They say their goal is to create a network of white men, who are willing to fight against the extinction of their race.
"No one wants you here, and if you are here, people will respect your First Amendment rights," Gov. Charlie Baker said. "The minute you start to engage in any activity that's deemed to be violent, inappropriate, or hateful, people are going to stand up and get rid of you."
NAACP Boston President Tanisha Sullivan said incidents like the one in Boston on Saturday are becoming all too familiar.
“What has to be clear is that they are not going to stop unless and until we have a very specific plan to help prevent them from coming into the city,” Sullivan said.
During the Fourth of July weekend, dozens of individuals apparently affiliated with the hate group Patriot Front strode through the city with their faces hidden by white coverings.
The group was wearing shirts that read: "Reclaim America." According to the Anti-Defamation League, that phrase became associated with Patriot Front after the group split from the openly anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi Vanguard America.
Charles Murrell, a Black artist, told police he was assaulted by members of the group near Copley Square after asking them to stop and they pushed back. The confrontation was caught on camera by a newspaper photographer and police said that Murrell suffered cuts to his head, eyebrow and one finger, and was transported to Boston Medical Center to be treated.

Chris Hood - The New England Nazi
Boston-based Chris Hood leads the white supremacist, neo-Nazi group 'Nationalist Socialist Club' (NSC, also referred to as the '131'). Founded in 2019, NSC's primary focus was Boston but has since expanded to all of New England under Hood's leadership. Its influence now stretches to Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and Rhode Island.
Hood joined the Northeast USA Proud Boys in 2017 and served as admin for their Facebook group. He then joined the Patriot Front and attended a number of Resist Marxism actions. In 2019 Hood was arrested while in possession of a dangerous weapon for his involvement in hanging racist fliers in East Boston, along with two other Patriot Front members. After getting thrown out of Patriot Front for allegedly stealing money from them to purchase marijuana Hood joined The Base, a dangerous neo-Nazi accelerationist group. Three members of The Base were arrested in Georgia for planning the murder of a couple that they believed to be antifascist activists. Hood left The Base and subsequently founded NSC.
Hood and NSC use the "echo" symbol in their graffiti tags to indicate that all the worlds’ corporations are controlled by Jews, or to communicate that their enemies are Jewish. NSC graffiti has also referenced antisemitic conspiracy theories claiming Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, was behind the 9/11 attacks. Another popular NSC phrase, "110 and Never Again" is used by neo-Nazis and white supremacists to persuade the United States to be the next and 110th nation to expel Jews. ‘Never Again,’ of course, is a phrase connected to preventing another Holocaust.
After visiting the Virginia Holocaust Museum in 2020, Hood and NSC posted images to Telegram of members posing with a Nazi flag and giving Hitler salutes outside the Museum. The photo was captioned: "NSC Virginia visits the holohoax museum", insinuating the genocide was fake.
Just this past April, after organizing fellow members on Telegram during the winter, Hood and NSC distributed fliers throughout various suburbs in Connecticut and staged a rally espousing their bigoted hatred against Jews and other minorities.

Facebook Under Fire for Hosting Accounts Selling Nazi Merchandise to Fund Far-Right Extremism
A white supremacist network with more than 80,000 followers and links to the UK far right, including a student charged with terrorist offences, is being hosted by Facebook and Instagram, putting the world’s largest social media company under fresh pressure to tackle extremism.
According to the London-based Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), sales of the products fundtwo neo-Nazi extremist movements operating from Ukraine: Azov Battalion and Misanthropic Division. A number of UK far-right activists are believed to have been recruited by Azov Battalion to fight in the conflict in Ukraine.
A British man is facing trial accused of 12 terror offences after police found him in possession of extremist material, including clothing and flags linked to Misanthropic Division. The student denies the charges.
The disclosure comes as Facebook, under scrutiny over its policing of abuses, attempts to prove it is tackling hate speech and extremism. However, the report, co-authored by the Coalition for a Safer Web, report says the social media company was first warned of the neo-Nazi networktwo years ago, and '''it has grown significantly since then.
Imran Ahmed, chief executive of CCDH,''' said: “Facebook’s leadership endangered public safety byletting neo-Nazis finance their activities through Facebook and Instagram.
“Facebook was first told about this problem two years ago and failed to act.”
Ahmed, who is also a member of the pilot group for the government’s commission on countering extremism, added: “This lack of action would not have gone unnoticed by extremists, who now know that Facebook allows them to recruit, organise and raise funds without interference.”
Last week, Facebook, which owns Instagram, disclosed for the first time figures on the prevalence of hate speech on the platform, revealing that during July, August and September approximately one in 1,000 pieces of content viewed included hate speech. Facebook also said it had taken action on 22.1 million pieces of hate speech content during the same three months.
Azov Battalion and Misanthropic Division appear to be trying to export their ideology to the west, with reports of links between the latter and “like-minded” groups, such as the proscribed UK terror organisation National Action. The Soufan Center, an anti-terrorism thinktank, estimates that 10 “foreign fighters” from the UK have served with Ukrainian militia like Azov Battalion, which uses slick propaganda videos in the manner of extremist groups such as Islamic State.Azov Battalion, a neo-Nazi paramilitary force, is also known to have hosted members of the Rise Above Movement, a far-right US group whose members were jailed for violence at the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville.
One of its Facebook pages is called “Gas Chambers”. Visitors are directed to sites where other products are available, including imagery of white skinheads standing next to a murdered black man and a Jewish man, with the wording: “Aggravated assault: It could happen to you.”
Research by the CCDH also found that extremists were using the encrypted messaging app Telegram to organise their efforts on mainstream platforms, process payments and spread propaganda.
After being contacted by the Observer, Facebook began taking down the neo-Nazi material. Later, a company spokesperson said: “We have removed the content which violates our policies prohibiting dangerous organisations. We regularly work to improve our technology to find and remove this content faster, and, while there is more work to do, we are making progress. The influential D.C. based Ukraine Foundation (USUF) hosted a webinar on July 15 featuring a documentary aboutVasyl Slipak,a famed Ukrainian opera singer who died in 2016 fighting alongside theultranationalist Right Sector’s“Volunteer Ukrainian Corps” (DUK) in eastern Ukraine.
The webinar featured an appearance by Diana Vynohradova (Kamlyuk), a Nazi decorated with white supremacist tattoos. Vynohradova was convicted of participating in a notorious racist murder and has incited hatred against Jews, denigrating them as “kikes.”
With her presence in the webinar, Vynohradova provided a shocking example of the mainstreaming of neo-Nazism in Ukrainian politics, and the tolerance for pro-NATO fascists in Washington. The USUF which provided her with the stamp of approval is a leading think tank of the Ukrainian diaspora withties to the US State Departmentand anti-Russian foreign policy advisors in both parties.
Through its Friends Of Ukraine Network (FOUN), the USUF has recruited some of the most hardline anti-Russia foreign policy hands in the Beltway. The Canary UK reported last year that the USUF and FOUN are “pushing a frightening escalation of the armed conflict in Ukraine” through their annual policy recommendations to the US government, and that the FOUN has described itself as “the largest, highest level and most politically diverse group of Americans to call for arming Ukraine with American weapons.”
Though it describes itself as a “do tank,” the USUF did not respond to a request for comment on itshosting of a Ukrainian neo-Naziinvolved in racist violence.
Zaborona reported that Vynohradova was convicted in the early 2000s for her participation in the racist murder of a Nigerian citizen. “I don’t like Negroes,” her friend replied when asked why he stabbed the Nigerian to death.
While in prison, Vynohradova wrote poems for the notorious neo-Nazi band Sokyra Peruna. During the 2013-14 “Revolution of Dignity,” she advised protesters from the main stage on Kyiv’s Independence Square “not to give in to supplications from the kikes.” In the past, Vynohradova wore a neo-Nazi “1488” tattoo on her right arm, but she has since covered it up.
