The Chinese firm Fufeng Group recently purchased 300 acres of farmland in North Dakota just down the road from a US Air Force base that houses sensitive drone technology near Grand Forks.

The farmland is just a 20-minute drive to the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

The Fufeng Group also purchased a corn mill near Grand Forks. Local citizens are rightly concerned with this new project in their backyard.

And what is more disturbing is the FBI and local police visited a top opponent to the corn mill project and threatened her for speaking out about the local purchases by the Chinese Communist regime.

Now a new report by CNN reveals China has placed Huawei equipment atop cell towers on purchased farm land near US military bases in the Midwest capable of disrupting service and capturing signals.

Since at least 2017, federal officials have investigated Chinese land purchases near critical infrastructure, shut down a high-profile regional consulate believed by the US government to be a hotbed of Chinese spies and stonewalled what they saw as clear efforts to plant listening devices near sensitive military and government facilities.

Among the most alarming things the FBI uncovered pertains to Chinese-made Huawei equipment atop cell towers near US military bases in the rural Midwest. According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, the FBI determined the equipment was capable of capturing and disrupting highly restricted Defense Department communications, including those used by US Strategic Command, which oversees the country’s nuclear weapons.

While broad concerns about Huawei equipment near US military installations have been well known, the existence of this investigation and its findings have never been reported. Its origins stretch back to at least the Obama administration. It was described to CNN by more than a dozen sources, including current and former national security officials, all of whom spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Russia not asking for sanctions removal – Lavrov

Western states should fix the food problems their restrictions have created, foreign minister says

Moscow is not asking for the lifting of sanctions, but urges Western states to fix the problems they have created on the global food market, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Sunday.

“We are not asking for the removal of sanctions – those are problems that deserve to be dealt with separately. We will simply develop our economy now by counting on reliable partners and not on those who have once again proved their total incapacity…

As far as food is concerned, our Western colleagues… should remove the obstacles they themselves have created,” the diplomat said after talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, in Egypt.

He noted that Moscow would not have agreed to Friday’s deal unblocking Ukraine’s grain exports if the issue of freeing up Russian exports had not been resolved. Moscow is now counting on the UN to stick to its promise and assist in removing restrictions holding back Russian grain shipments.

“Those illegitimate restrictions that were imposed… prevented operations with Russian grain, including insurance, including the admission of our ships to foreign ports and foreign ships’ entry into Russian ports,” Sergey Lavrov said.

“After the signing of agreements in Istanbul at the initiative of the UN Secretary General, he volunteered to seek the removal of these illegitimate restrictions. Let's count on him to succeed,” the foreign minister added

Where Central Banks Have Issued Digital Currencies

The value of Bitcoins and NFTs may have fallen over the past year, but a different approach to cryptocurrency is growing in popularity around the world while showcasing a totally different face of the blockchain.

As Statista's Katharina Buchholz details below, central bank digital currencies are controlled by governments like traditional currencies are and therefore represent the polar opposite of the idea of decentralized, non-traceable bitcoins. Several small nations and - as of October 2021, Nigeria - have launched central bank digital currencies, and several more populous countries are getting ready to jump aboard a different crypto hype train.

According to the Central Bank Digital Currency Tracker by Atlantic Council, CBDCs were launched even earlier than in Nigeria in Caribbean countries, for example in the Bahamas, Grenada, Dominica and Saint Lucia. The Sand Dollar of the Bahamas was the first central bank digital currency of the world upon its launch in 2019 and cleared the way for a rapid adoption around the region’s small nations.

The Chinese digital Yuan pilot made headlines in April 2019, but the project has not moved on since. Like Nigeria, China has a solid digital and mobile payment infrastructure. Large parts of the two countries' populations leapfrogged card payments and went straight from cash to digital payment options, which became hugely popular - may they be app or text-based. In developing countries, central banks also consider the potential of digital currencies reaching the unbanked.

Another reason for some governments to champion official digital currencies is the collection of data. Ubiquitous digital payments and tight government surveillance have led to a plethora of payment data already available to Chinese administrators. This knowledge on how people spend money will only grow with the implementation of the digital Yuan, even though the country’s central bank has said it will limit traceability and create what it calls “controllable anonymity.”

With the launch of the digital currency, every Yuan in circulation will either exist as physical or as digital currency. Analysts expect the Chinese government to raise the amount of digital currency in the future, thereby lowering the amount of physical currency available in the market. Some even think China plans to make all Yuan digital at one point.

Other countries which are in a CBDC pilot phase include Russia, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. It is unclear, however, which program could see a proper launch next. Concrete plans to launch a CBDC were recorded by the source in Canada, Australia, Brazil and India, among others.

The digital Euro is also in its development phase, with a pilot scheduled for 2023 in participating nations.

Moscow reveals target of strike on key Ukrainian port

A military vessel and a stockpile of Harpoon missiles were hit during Saturday’s attack, the defense ministry has said

The Russian Ministry of Defense has confirmed striking targets in the major Ukrainian port of Odessa on Saturday, revealing that its missiles hit military infrastructure and arms stockpiles.

“In the seaport of Odessa, on the territory of a shipyard, a docked Ukrainian warship and a warehouse of Harpoon anti-ship missiles, supplied by the US to the Kiev regime, have been destroyed by sea-based high-precision long-range missiles,” the ministry said on Sunday.

The attack also crippled a repair facility where vessels of the Ukrainian navy have been fixed, it added.

The strike on the target in Odessa, which is a major trade hub in the southwest of Ukraine, came a day after the signing of a UN-brokered deal to unblock grain exports from Ukrainian ports.

During the conflict that has been underway since February 24, Moscow has insisted that its troops only fire at Ukrainian forces and military infrastructure, not civilian facilities.

According to Kiev officials, four cruise missiles were used in the attack on the port of Odessa, allegedly targeting grain silos located there. Two of the missiles were intercepted and two made it through, but failed to inflict significant damage, they said.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky described the strike as “barbarism” and insisted “Russian Kalibr missiles destroyed the very possibility of statements” on the need for dialogue and any agreements with Moscow.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “unequivocally condemns” the attack on the port of Odessa, his spokesman said. According to Guterres, “the full implementation [of the deal] by Russia, Ukraine and Turkey is imperative” because the products that are covered by it are “desperately needed to address the global food crisis and ease the suffering of millions of people in need around the globe,” he added.

The eye-raising article was flayed on Twitter for even suggesting that people eat people, and many commentators reckoned that the New York Times writer put her foot in her mouth.

The piece was written by Alex Beggs – a freelance writer and "regular contributor at Bon Appétit, where she reviews the latest Trader Joe's products, writes the magazine's questionable etiquette column, and regularly covers cookbooks," according to journalist database Muck Rack.

The article titled "A Taste for Cannibalism?" argues that cannibalism is having a moment right now because of "some recent stomach-churning books, and on television and film screens."

However, cannibalism has been featured in entertainment throughout history – including "Soylent Green" (1973), "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974), "Cannibal Holocaust" (1980), "Conan the Barbarian" (1982), "Silence of the Lambs" (1991), "Alive" (1993), "Ravenous" (1999), "The 13th Warrior" (1999), "American Psycho" (2000), "Sin City" (2005), "The Hills Have Eyes" (2006), and "Jennifer’s Body" (2009), just to name a few.

“Private Company?” — Meet the Ex-CIA Agents Deciding Facebook’s Content Policy==

It is an uncomfortable job for anyone trying to draw the line between “harmful content and protecting freedom of speech. It’s a balance”, Aaron says. In this official Facebook video, Aaron identifies himself as the manager of “the team that writes the rules for Facebook”, determining “what is acceptable and what is not.” Thus, he and his team effectively decide what content the platform’s 2.9 billion active users see and what they don’t see.

Aaron is being interviewed in a bright warehouse-turned-studio. He is wearing a purple sweater and blue jeans. He comes across as a very likable, smiley person. It is not an easy job, of course, but someone has to make those calls. “Transparency is incredibly important in the work that I do,” he says.

Aaron is CIA. Or at least he was until July 2019, when he left his job as a senior analytic manager at the agency to become senior product policy manager for misinformation at Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. In his 15-year career, Aaron Berman rose to become a highly influential part of the CIA. For years, he prepared and edited the president of the United States’ daily brief, “wr[iting] and overs[eeing] intelligence analysis to enable the President and senior U.S. officials to make decisions on the most critical national security issues,” especially on “the impact of influence operations on social movements, security, and democracy,” his LinkedIn profile reads. None of this is mentioned in the Facebook video.

Berman’s case is far from unique, however. Studying Meta’s reports, as well as employment websites and databases, MintPress has found that Facebook has recruited dozens of individuals from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), as well as many more from other agencies like the FBI and Department of Defense (DoD). These hires are primarily in highly politically sensitive sectors such as trust, security and content moderation, to the point where some might feel it becomes difficult to see where the U.S. national security state ends and Facebook begins.

In previous investigations, this author has detailed how TikTok is flooded with NATO officials, how former FBI agents abound at Twitter, and how Reddit is led by a former war planner for the NATO think tank, the Atlantic Council. But the sheer scale of infiltration of Facebook blows these away. Facebook, in short, is utterly swarming with spooks.

TRUST ME, BRO

In a political sense, trust, safety and misinformation are the most sensitive parts of Meta’s operation. It is here where decisions about what content is allowed, what will be promoted and who or what will be suppressed are made. These decisions affect what news and information billions of people across the world see every day. Therefore, those in charge of the algorithms hold far more power and influence over the public sphere than even editors at the largest news outlets.

There are a number of other ex-CIA agents working in these fields. Deborah Berman, for example, spent 10 years as a data and intelligence analyst at the CIA before recently being brought on as a trust and safety project manager for Meta. Little is known about what she did at the agency, but her pre-agency publications indicate she was a specialist on Syria.

None of this is to say that any of those named are not conscientious, that they are bad people or bad at their job. Vacher, for example, helped design Facebook’s amber alert program, notifying people to missing children in their area. But hiring so many ex-U.S. state officials to run Facebook’s most politically sensitive operations raises troubling questions about the company’s impartiality and its proximity to government power. Meta is so full of national security state agents that at some point, it almost becomes more difficult to find individuals in trust and safety who were not formerly agents of the state.

Despite its efforts to brand itself as a progressive, “woke” organization, the Central Intelligence Agency remains deeply controversial. It has been charged with overthrowing or attempting to overthrow numerous foreign governments (some of them democratically elected), helping prominent Nazis escape punishment after World War Two, funnelling large quantities of drugs and weapons around the world, penetrating domestic media outlets, routinely spreading false information and operating a global network of “black sites” where prisoners are repeatedly tortured. Therefore, critics argue that putting operatives from this organization in control of our news feeds is deeply inappropriate.

One of these critics is Elizabeth Murray, who, in 2010, retired from a 27-year career at the CIA and other U.S. intelligence organizations. “This is insidious,” Murray told MintPress, adding,

I see it as part of the gradual and sinister migration of ambitious young professionals originally trained (with CIA’s virtually unlimited, U.S.-taxpayer funded pot of resources) to surveil and target ‘the bad guys’ during the so-called Global War on Terror of the post-9-11 era.”

MintPress also contacted Facebook/Meta for comment but has not received a response.

ARM’S LENGTH CONTROL

Some may ask what the big fuss is. There is a limited pool of individuals with the necessary skills and experience in these new tech and cybersecurity fields, and many of them come from government institutions. Casinos, after all, regularly hire card sharks to protect themselves. But there is little evidence that this is a poacher-turned-gamekeeper scenario; Facebook is certainly not hiring whistleblowers. The problem is not that these individuals are incompetant. The problem is that having so many former CIA employees running the world’s most important information and news platform is only one small step removed from the agency itself deciding what you see and what we do not see online – and all with essentially no public oversight.

In this sense, this arrangement constitutes the best of both worlds for Washington. They can exert significant influence over global news and information flows but maintain some veneer of plausible deniability. The U.S. government does not need to directly tell Facebook what policies to enact. This is because the people in decision-making positions are inordinately those who rose through the ranks of the national security state beforehand, meaning their outlooks match those of Washington’s. And if Facebook does not play ball, quiet threats about regulation or breaking up the company’s enormous monopoly can also achieve the desired outcomes.

Again, this article is not claiming that any of the named individuals are nefarious actors, or even that they are anything but model employees. This is a structural problem. Put another way, if Facebook were hiring dozens of managers from Russian intelligence agencies like the FSB or GRU, everybody would recognize the inherent dangers. It should be little different when it hires individuals from the CIA, an organization responsible for some of the worst crimes of the modern era.

Gen. Mark Milley: China Becoming ‘More Aggressive’ in Pacific

The top U.S. general asserted Sunday that the Chinese regime’s military has become more aggressive and dangerous over the past five years.

Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters that the United States and its allies have conducted more and more intercepts of Chinese aircraft and ships in the Pacific. The number of unsafe encounters has also increased significantly, he said.

“The message is the Chinese military, in the air and at sea, have become significantly more and noticeably more aggressive in this particular region,” Milley, who recently asked his staff to compile details about interactions between China and the United States and others in the region, said during a trip to Indonesia on Sunday.

The Chinese military has become “noticeably more aggressive in this particular region,” he also told the Financial Times. Milley spoke with The Associated Press and the Financial Times aboard his aircraft as he was flying to visit the Indo–Pacific over the weekend.

The top general, who has faced congressional blowback for holding two phone calls with a top Chinese general during the waning months of the Trump administration, did not provide specific figures about the incidents involving Chinese jets or ships.

But in one example, a Chinese J-6 fighter jet in May flew close to an Australian P-8 Poseidon spy plane and released chaff—or pieces of ammunition and other debris—that was sucked into the Australian plane’s engines, Australian officials said.

Canadian Convoys Hit the Road in Solidarity With Dutch Farmers

Multiple convoy protests got under way across Canada on July 23 in solidarity with farmers in the Netherlands and several other European countries who have been protesting against climate change policies over the past few months, saying the measures are threatening their livelihoods.

The decentralized protests were held by locals simultaneously across the country. In all, at least 55 convoys rolled out to support the Dutch farmers in eight provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

Kyle Norbury, an electrician from Edmonton who says he has been in Ottawa for five months protesting COVID-19 mandates, said he thought it’s important for him and others to support the Dutch farmers.

“We are here as proud patriot Canadians supporting the Dutch farmers in their protests over in the Netherlands,” Norbury told The Epoch Times.

“It’s important that Canadians make a stance for freedoms before they’re gone. We all see the government overreach happening all throughout the world right now, and it’s important the everyone stands united before it’s too late. Our freedoms are slowly disappearing as we speak.”

In the GTA, convoys of vehicles and supporters converged in Vaughan around noon to form a larger convoy. The convoys came from dozens of regions including London, Toronto, Niagara, and Kingston, with some “slow-rolling” to the rendezvous point.

Democrat House Intelligence Committee Member Warns: DNA Testing Can Be Used as Bioweapon to Target Americans

Bio-weapons are being developed that use specific DNA to target and kill individuals through their medical profile, a Democrat member of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee warned Friday.

Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), a U.S. Army veteran, used the Aspen Security Forum to warn Americans to be more judicious about sharing their DNA with private companies due to the coming of new bioweapon types.

His call is a repeat of one made in 2019 when concerns about China acquiring the DNA of American service members prompted the Pentagon to issue an advisory to the entire force against using commercial popular DNA testing kits to trace one’s ancestry.

“You can actually take someone’s DNA, take, you know, their medical profile and you can target a biological weapon that will kill that person or take them off the battlefield or make them inoperable,” Crow, from Colorado, reportedly said.

The congressman said the development of sophisticated bioweapons is worrisome given the popularity of DNA testing services, where people willingly share their genetic mapping with businesses to gain insight on their genealogy and health, the Daily Mail reports.

“You can’t have a discussion about this without talking about privacy and the protection of commercial data because expectations of privacy have degraded over the last 20 years,” the Democratic lawmaker said.

“Young folks actually have very little expectation of privacy, that’s what the polling and the data show.”

Crow, a former Army Ranger who served three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, continued: “People will very rapidly spit into a cup and send it to 23andMe and get really interesting data about their background.”

“And guess what? Their DNA is now owned by a private company. It can be sold off with very little intellectual property protection or privacy protection and we don’t have legal and regulatory regimes to deal with that.”

Crow went on to counsel that “an open and public discussion about… what the protection of healthcare information, DNA information, and your data look like because that data is actually going to be procured and collected by our adversaries for the development of these systems.”

DNA service provider 23andMe has repeatedly stated it does not sell off customers’ private information.

This is not the first time DNA testing has been called into question as a personal security risk.

The Berlin-based event, which took place on Saturday, was one of many Christopher Street Day demonstrations across Europe, with the pan-European celebration occurring annually in memory of the Stonewall Riots.

According to a report by broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, police said around 350,000 individuals took part in the protest, which this year reportedly centred around a “strong signal for diversity, freedom and respect and against hate, war and discrimination”.

However, for at least some protesters at the event in the German capital, sending a “strong signal” against war included demanding Ukraine be sent more weapons.

White House Backs W.H.O. Chief Tedros in Declaring Monkeypox Global Emergency

President Joe Biden’s White House stands four-square behind World Health Organization (W.H.O.) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and his unilateral declaration of a monkeypox global emergency.

Tedros made the decision to issue the declaration despite no consensus among members of W.H.O.’s emergency committee as to the way forward in treating the outbreak.

It is the first time the chief of the U.N. health agency has taken such an action on his own, as Breitbart News reported.

“Today’s decision by the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) to declare the current monkeypox outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern is a call to action for the world community to stop the spread of this virus.

“A coordinated, international response is essential to stop the spread of monkeypox, protect communities at greatest risk of contracting the disease, and combat the current outbreak,” Raj Panjabi, director of the White House Pandemic Preparedness Office, said in a statement on Saturday.

More than 16,000 monkeypox cases have been reported in 75 countries and territories. The emergency declaration mostly serves as a plea to draw more global funding to enable the W.H.O. to act in an environment of heightened awareness.

Ireland’s green agenda-loving government is set to impose an emissions cut of around 28 per cent on farmers, a report has claimed.

Farmers in Ireland may soon be forced to make potentially damaging changes to their businesses as climate alarmist ministers within Ireland’s government look set to cut the sector’s emissions by around 28 per cent.

Officials within the Irish government have been haggling over how badly to hammer the country’s farms with green legislation for some time, despite the visceral reactions of farmers in fellow EU member-state the Netherlands to the curbing of nitrogen emissions, due to the damage the EU-inspired restrictions will cause to their businesses.

According to a report by The Times, Ireland’s Minister for Agriculture, Charlie McConalogue, has already agreed to force a cut of either 27 or 28 per cent on the country’s farming sector, a move that will cause significant disruptions to local businesses.

However, the publication also claims that there is still significant pressure on McConalogue to implement a curb of 30 per cent, a measure the head of one of the country’s largest farming organisations has said would result in a massive cut in cattle numbers in the country.

“A target of 30 per cent would result in significantly reduced production, which could devastate the farming sector in Ireland,” Irish Farmers’ Association president Tim Cullinan previously said regarding such a move.

Even at the lower 28 per cent estimate, one of the Irish government’s own officials emphasised that it would not be business as usual, with such a measure requiring drastic changes in Irish farming.

“The targets assigned to each sector must be proportionate and reflective of the overall contribution,” Department of Agriculture chief inspector Bill Callanan reportedly told a parliamentary committee last week.

“Unlike in other sectors where technologies and/or lifestyle changes can be utilised, there are no silver-bullet solutions to reducing emissions from the agriculture and land use sector,” he went on to say.

1,600 Previously Convicted Criminals Caught Crossing into Single Texas Border Sector This Year

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol officials sounded the alarm after reporting the apprehension of more than 1,600 previously convicted criminal migrants who illegally entered the U.S. during the current fiscal year. The news comes after the arrest on back-to-back days of deported sex offenders.

“Thanks to agents in the Del Rio Sector, these two criminals won’t be on our streets,” Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens tweeted. “This is why we need our agents on patrol. This is our mission.”

The chief reported his agents apprehended two more criminal aliens on back-to-back days in July.

Brackettville Station agents arrested one of those, 61-year-old Jose Francisco Perdomo-Amador, a Honduran national, on July 12as he attempted to sneak past an interior checkpoint. During a records check, the agents discovered that a Dallas, Texas, court convicted the Honduran man in October 2017 for sexual assault. After being sentenced to a two-year prison term, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers deported him back to Honduras in 2021.

The following day, Carrizo Springs Station agents arrested a Guatemalan migrant who illegally crossed the border from Mexico into Texas with a group of four other migrants. During processing, agents conducted a background investigation and found that a court in Orange County, Florida, convicted the man, Henry Oroxco-Miranda, 42, for lewd and lascivious sexual battery upon the elderly/disabled. The court sentenced him to four years in state prison. ICE officers deported him in 2015.

Del Rio Sector officials report that since the beginning of Fiscal Year 2022 (October 1, 2021), agents arrested more than 1,651 criminal aliens who illegally re-entered the United States.

Migrants who re-enter the U.S. illegally after removal can be charged with a federal felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

The historically quiet Del Rio Sector jumped into first place as the busiest of the nine southwest Border Patrol sectors in June, Breitbart Texas reported. Del Rio agents 45,225 migrants in June — an increase of more than 47 percent over one year ago. More than three-quarters of those apprehended in June were single adults — up nearly 68 percent over last year.

The sector accounted for 326,177 of the more than 1.6 million migrants apprehended along the U.S.-Mexico border this fiscal year.

An Illinois man is charged with a hate crime for allegedly vandalizing a bakery about an hour outside of Chicago, and a drag show planned at the damaged business has been canceled.

The local police department, meanwhile, has been fielding complaints for weeks about advertisements saying children were welcome at the drag performance, but investigators insisted that no nudity or sexually explicit content was expected during the show. Protests and counter-protests were planned.

Joseph I. Collins, 24, of Alsip, Illinois, is charged with two felony counts of a hate crime and criminal damage to property in connection to an incident that happened just after midnight Saturday at the UpRising Bakery and Café located in the 2100 block of W. Algonquin Road in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.

At approximately 12:04 a.m., Lake in the Hills officers were dispatched to the bakery and notified of an "in progress damage to property and the suspect had fled on foot," according to a news release.

Biden could declare climate emergency - Kerry

The US climate envoy, John Kerry, says President Joe Biden is considering announcing a climate emergency.

The move would give him additional powers to push his renewable energy agenda, which has been held up by lack of support in Congress.

Mr Kerry told the BBC it was "less than ideal" that Congress was not "full-throatedly" in favour.

But he said nobody was more committed than President Biden to replacing carbon-based energy.

He said Mr Biden was prepared to use "every tool available to him" to tackle climate change, including executive orders.

In a packed lower Manhattan courthouse on June 28, Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiring with Jeffrey Epstein to recruit, groom and abuse underage girls. Federal Circuit Judge Alison J. Nathan said before rendering sentence that “the damage done to these young girls was incalculable.”

In Maxwell’s defense, lawyer Bobbi C. Sternheim said that Ms. Maxwell’s life had been clouded by two men: “her narcissistic, brutish father” Robert Maxwell, wealthy British media tycoon and former member of parliament, and “the controlling, demanding, manipulative” Jeffrey Epstein.

Maxwell herself spoke in court on Tuesday—her first public remarks since her July 2020 arrest—dressed in prison scrubs and with her ankles shackled. She acknowledged “the pain and anguish” of the victimized women who had addressed the court before her, but stopped short of apologizing or accepting responsibility for her crimes, claiming that “it is the greatest regret of my life that I ever met Jeffrey Epstein.”

While Maxwell’s attempt to blame Epstein for her crimes was obviously self-serving, what she could not say was that she was the one to take the fall for a sexual blackmail operation sponsored by Western intelligence agencies.

That operation appears to have originated with her father Robert back in the 1980s.

Ari Ben-Menashe, a former Israeli intelligence official, claimed to have seen Jeffrey Epstein in Robert’s office in the early 1980s.

Epstein may have first been recruited into the intelligence services at The Dalton School in Manhattan, where he taught math after dropping out of the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University in 1974.

The headmaster of The Dalton School at the time was Donald Barr, future attorney general William Barr’s father, who had worked for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and wrote a novel about child-sex slavery.

William Barr worked for the CIA’s China desk and as a CIA lawyer. Years later, he was responsible for investigating and covering up the circumstances of Epstein’s death in jail on August 10, 2019.[10]

The Bronfmans’ incidentally were involved with Mafia accountant Meyer Lansky, who pioneered the mob’s use of sexual blackmail, and with intelligence operations.

In 1968, Allen Bronfman set up a firm, Space Research, that manufactured howitzers which could be fired into space, and served as a cover for smuggling arms on behalf of British and U.S. intelligence. Richard Bissell, former CIA Deputy Director for Plans, sat on its Board of Directors.

According to Steve Hoffenberg of Towers Financial Corporation, a leading debt collection and corporate raiding agency where Epstein worked in the early 1980s after Bear Stearns, Epstein helped perpetrate securities fraud and a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme for which Hoffenberg was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Hoffenberg had called Epstein the “architect of the scam,” though Epstein’s name was mysteriously dropped from the criminal case.

Unfunded state pension liabilities grow to $8.28 trillion

(The Center Square) – Unfunded state pension liabilities have climbed to $8.28 trillion, or nearly $25,000 for every person in the United States, according to a new report from the American Legislative Exchange Council.

The American Legislative Exchange Council released the latest edition of its report on pensions in all 50 states Thursday. The report, "Unaccountable and Unaffordable 2021," shows just a handful of states with outsize pension liabilities account for a large share of overall pension debt in the U.S.

The report looked at 290 state-administered government pension plans and their assets and liabilities from fiscal year 2012 to fiscal year 2020. An example of state-administered government pension plans in Illinois would cover state employees, teachers, university workers, judges and lawmakers.

The states with the most unfunded liabilities are California ($1.53 trillion), Illinois ($533.72 billion), Texas ($529.70 billion), New York ($508.70 billion) and Ohio ($429.53 billion). These five states alone account for more than $3.5 trillion in unfunded liabilities, or about 43% of all unfunded liabilities in the U.S.

The bottom 10 states make up $4.9 trillion, or 59.36% of all unfunded liabilities, according to the ALEC report. On a per capita basis, the bottom five state are Alaska ($42,829), Illinois ($41,656.79), Connecticut ($40,427.58), Hawaii ($39,939.43), New Jersey ($39,849.02) and California ($38,713.16).

"As state pension plans invest their funds in increasingly risky assets, the gap between expected rates of return and actual rates of return widens, with results falling far short of expectations," the authors of the report wrote. "When investment returns fail to meet expectations, taxpayers and plan members must make up the difference through increased contributions."

The states with the least unfunded pension liabilities were Vermont ($14.43 billion), South Dakota ($14.44 billion), North Dakota ($15.13 billion), Delaware ($18.46 billion) and Wyoming ($18.71 billion). On a per capita basis, the lowest were Tennessee ($8,511.92), Indiana ($10,188.66), Nebraska ($13,370.44), Florida ($14,062.16) and Idaho ($15,918.74).

No state in the U.S. has fully funded its pension plans. The state with the highest funding ratio in the nation is Wisconsin at 56% and New Jersey was the lowest at 18%.

"Many experts feared dramatic pension investment losses in 2020," the authors wrote. "Even in years where investment returns beat the assumed return, public pensions cannot invest their way out of the problem of growing unfunded liabilities. … The problems of pension underfunding are structural. Poor assumptions, over promising benefits, chasing returns, and political investment strategies plague public pensions across the country."

Money Pit: Zelensky govt signals intent to default on tens of billions in foreign debts

Despite countless billions flooding into Ukraine, Kiev can't pay its debts.

Western governments have allocated well over $100 billion to prop up Ukraine in its war against Russia, with countless billions more flooding into the country at an increasing pace. Yet as each day passes, it’s becoming more and more clear that all of the money awarded and assigned to Ukraine continues to dissolve into a black hole of secrecy, corruption, deceit, and now, default.

On Wednesday, Ukraine finance ministry asked foreign creditors to accept a delay in its debt repayments, requesting a two year freeze on billions of dollars in Eurobonds. Per the Financial Times, “a rescheduling would amount to a Ukrainian default” on Kiev’s tens of billions in foreign debt.

The news comes just one day after the EU ambassador to Kiev insisted that Ukraine would not default on its foreign debt.

The junk-rated sovereign has a balance of about $25 billion of foreign debt, Bloomberg reports.

Despite all of the money coming in from around the world, Ukraine’s budget deficit has spiraled out of control. Zelensky’s office now claims to have a $9 billion monthly budget deficit, up 80% from just last month.

AUKUS, Technology and Militarising Australia

Thinktanks across Australia, tanked with cash from US sources and keen to think in furious agreement, are all showing how delighted they are with the AUKUS security pact and what potential it has for local, if subordinated industry. The United States Studies Centre, a loudspeaker for Washington’s opinions based at the University of Sydney, has added its bit to the militarising fun with a report on what AUKUS will be able to do.

The author of the report, non-resident fellow of the US Centre’s Foreign Policy and Defence program Jennifer Jackett gushes about the “more consequential” nature of various “technological developments in quantum, cyber, artificial intelligence, undersea, hypersonics and electronic warfare” than nuclear-powered submarines. The latter are, after all, slated to appear much later on the horizon. In the meantime, warring potential could be harnessed in other realms.

Jackett stresses the urgency of appreciating these fields, given that Australia faces “a more hostile Indo-Pacific”. No ironic reflection follows that such hostility has been aided, in no small part, by the AUKUS security pact that has put countries in the region, with China being the primary target, on military notice.

In dealing with such threats, the AUKUS partners – the US, UK and Australia – had to “understand areas of comparative advantage, complementarity, and potential gaps or overlaps, between the three industrial bases.”

Reading, at points, like an intelligence comb through of local assets and wealth resources by a future colonising power, the report is revealing about what Vince Scappatura called that “loose networks of elites and institutional relationships” that nourish Australia’s umbilical cord to Freedom Land.

Australia’s population is described in glowing terms, with some nose-turning suggestions for improvement for the happily compliant subjects. “Australia stands out for the quality of its educational institutions and skilled workforce. Australian scientists are renowned for the global impact of their research in fields such as quantum physics and artificial intelligence.” There is, however, a belated admission that Australia’s STEM workforce, with 16 per cent of qualifications in the field, come behind that of the United States, “where around 23 per cent of the total workforce has a university-level or below STEM qualification.”

Bahrain sacks senior official, royal family member over Israel envoy snub

A senior Bahraini official and member of the ruling Al-Khalifa family has been dismissed for refusing to shake hands with the Israeli ambassador to the country.

Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, who is the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities was reportedly sacked by order of King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa according to a report on Friday by Rai Al-Youm.

Mai is said to have refused to shake hands with Eitan Na'eh, Israel's ambassador to Manama, during a funeral service for the father of US ambassador Steven C Bondy last month.

She also reportedly left the funeral service upon learning of Na'eh's presence and requested that the US embassy should not publish any pictures of her attending the event.

Bahraini sources have revealed that the king did not wait for Mai to return from her official visit in Albania to dismiss her. She was swiftly replaced by Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.

"The government wishes to emphasize that the former president of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, served in government for over 20 years with distinction," the Bahraini government's spokesperson said in a statement issued in response to the report.

"Wide-ranging changes announced this week within a number of government bodies follow on from the largest cabinet reshuffle in the Kingdom's history," the statement continued.

"Updates to leadership positions within public sector bodies should not be misinterpreted."

Sheikha Mai's refusal to shake hands with Na'eh is a "true reflection of the Bahraini people's genuine stance in support of Palestinians," said Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem in a statement in on Saturday.

According to Al-Mayadeen, Shaikha Mai also opposed plans aimed at the "Judaization" of Old Manama neighbourhoods, such as Bab Al-Bahrain in the central business district of the city, and Al-Mutanabbi Avenue.

The Bahraini royal family member has been described as a "controversial figure", who has worked as an official for over 20 years. She has previously served as the Bahraini information minister, the first woman to hold the office in addition to Bahrain's culture minister.

On 30 November last year, Shaikha Mai hosted Israeli historian and activist Ilan Pappé at the Sheikh Ibrahim Center. Pappé has previously written about "the ethnic cleansing of Palestine", and is opposed to the ongoing occupation of Palestine.

Lapid orders to prepare responses against Russia if it shutters Jewish Agency

Potential responses include recalling ambassador, more assistance to Ukraine, TV reports; delegation to Moscow to fly at a later date

Prime Minister Yair Lapid has ordered the Foreign Ministry to prepare a range of reactions to weigh for possible use if Russia indeed shuts down the Jewish Agency, according to Hebrew-language media reports.

The decision came following a meeting Lapid held earlier today.

The potential responses include delaying handing back Alexander’s Courtyard to Russia, providing more assistance for Ukraine, and calling home the Israeli ambassador in Moscow for consultations, Channel 12 news and Channel 13 news report, citing sources involved in the meeting.

According to Channel 12, Israeli leaders aren’t certain as to why Russia has threatened to shut down the agency, with a crucial court hearing set for Thursday, but Moscow may be unhappy with the delays so far to transfer Alexander’s Courtyard and/or angered by Israeli comments, especially Lapid’s, decrying the invasion of Ukraine. Alternatively, it may be exacting a price for Israeli strikes in Syria, whose airspace is largely controlled by Russia.

Channel 13 says the Israeli delegation to Moscow to attempt to solve the matter will not fly today as planned, but at a later date to be determined. Channel 12 says Moscow has not yet given its agreement for the delegation to visit.

The US authorities condemn the attack on the port of Odessa, holding Russia responsible for it and argue that Russia allegedly violated its obligations under the agreements on the export of Ukrainian grain. This is according to a statement by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, released on Saturday.

"The United States strongly condemns Russia’s attack on the port of Odessa. Just 24 hours after finalizing a deal to allow the resumption of Ukrainian agricultural exports through the Black Sea, Russia breached its commitments by attacking the historic port from which grain and agricultural exports would again be transported under this arrangement," Blinken said.

According to him, Russia was "starving Ukraine of its economic vitality and the world of its food supply". "This attack casts serious doubt on the credibility of Russia’s commitment to yesterday’s deal and undermines the work of the UN, Turkey, and Ukraine to get critical food to world markets," he said.

Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Saturday, commenting on reports of the shelling of the port of Odessa, that Russia "had nothing to do with the attack." According to him, this was announced within the framework of Russia's contacts with the Turkish side.

On July 22, a package of documents was signed in Istanbul to solve the problem of food and fertilizer supplies to world markets. The memorandum between Russia and the UN fixes that the world organization is involved in the work to remove anti-Russian restrictions that impede the export of agricultural products and fertilizers. Another document prescribes the mechanism for the export of grain from the Black Sea ports controlled by Ukraine. Trump urges school restrictions on radical ideologies, rehiring troops ousted over vaccines

The 45th president sounded like a candidate ready to make a third run for the White House in 2024.

Former President Donald Trump is calling for the reinstatement of troops ousted from the military over vaccine mandates as well as new restrictions to keep teachers from exposing students to extreme race, gender and sexual ideologies.

"Across the United States, we need to implement strict prohibitions on teaching inappropriate racial, sexual, and political material to America's children in any form," Trump declared in a speech Saturday night in Florida to young conservatives at the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit.

Trump also said that troops ousted from the military services for refusing to be vaccinated should be restored with back pay.

The Pentagon should "rehire every patriot who was shamefully fired from the military with an apology,” he said.

The 45th president sounded like a candidate ready to make a third run for the White House in 2024, speaking to the group just a day after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also addressed the convention.

“We’re going to take back our liberty. We’re going to take back our destiny. We’re going to take back, very soon, our country,” Trump said to cheers.

“If I announced I was not going to run for office, the persecution of Donald Trump would immediately stop,” he added. “But that’s what they want me to do. And you know what? There’s no chance I do that.”

Trump also implored attendees to fight the culture wars by imposing embargoes on corporations that lean too far left.

"The radical left attacks those corporations by putting boycotts on them, and for some reason, Republicans and the right they don't do that," he said. "The only way to stop this extremism and get radical politics out of corporate boardrooms and human resource departments is if we do to the left exactly what the left does to us."

No more organ transplants for the unvaccinated in Canada — JCCF lawyer weighs in

A judge has ruled that Sheila Lewis, who is unvaccinated, has no right to receive a life-saving transplant.

Recently, we interviewed Sheila Annette Lewis, who suffers from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and has been advised that she will not survive unless she receives an organ transplant. A recent court ruling has led to Lewis now being denied this life-saving surgery for her terminal condition, because she is unvaccinated.

Below are excerpts from Justice R. Paul Belzil’s ruling. (This case is under a publication ban which means that Rebel News is unable to publish the name of the organ Lewis needs.)

“No one has a right to receive [CENSORED] transplants, and no one is forced to undergo transplantation surgery.”

“It is illogical for the applicant to freely accept all other preconditions to transplantation and object to one on the basis of alleged medical coercion."

“The Charter has no application to clinical treatment decisions made by the Treating Physicians.”

The publication ban also censors other details of this case, including the names of the doctors, the name of the city where her transplant team works, and the name of the hospital where her transplant would take place. Rebel News published two articles on Lewis's case before the ban took effect, one in September of 2021, and the other in December of 2021.

Alejandro Mayorkas, who somehow wound up as the Secretary of Homeland Security under the Biden administration, recently spoke at the Aspen Security Forum. Unlike his boss at the White House, Mayorkas agreed to take some questions from the press after concluding his remarks. He was asked about the situation at the southern border and what plans might be in place to address the Biden border crisis. Remarkably, Mayorkas responded by saying that the border “is secure,” though he admitted that we are facing an “historic challenge.” The Secretary managed to deliver these remarks with a straight face, despite the fact that we are currently seeing more than 200,000 illegal border crossings per month. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday claimed that the southern border “is secure” – even as Border Patrol agents are facing historic migrant numbers.

Mayorkas spoke at the Aspen Security Forum, where he was asked about the situation at the southern border – which has seen more than 200,000 migrant encounters a month in the last three months.

But, even though he acknowledged the situation is a “historic challenge,” the secretary claimed the border is “secure.”

“Look, the border is secure,” he said. “We are working to make the border more secure. That has been a historic challenge.”

Mayorkas also sought to place blame on Republicans who refuse to consider any new immigration legislation that includes a pathway to citizenship for the more than ten million illegal aliens who are already in the country. He was quoted as saying that he takes issue with “the math of holding the solution hostage until the problem is resolved.”

When the Border Patrol Officers heard these remarks, they called him out for being the liar that he is:

Multiple Border Patrol agents are pushing back against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ claim that the southern border is “secure” — just as agents on the frontlines of the historic migrant crisis are struggling to cope with the overwhelming numbers facing them. …

“Hundreds of thousands crossing every month is not the definition of secure,” one agent said. “They are liars and anyone who believes them are fools.”

Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) also disputed that the border is secure, pointing to not only the drug flows into the U.S., but also the number of migrants that get past agents.

A high-level CBP source told Fox News last month that there have been 440,000 known gotaways since the fiscal year began in October — with over 50,000 in May. Combined with the 400,000 known gotaways since the beginning of FY 2021, that means that more than 800,000 illegal immigrants have gotten past agents since October 2020.

“As bad as the apprehension numbers are, and they are beyond bad, the scariest part of border security is the gotaways and the amount of drugs that are coming into the country,” Judd told Fox News Digital. “Secretary Mayorkas knows the cartels use illegal border crossers to facilitate their higher value contraband including criminal aliens and fentanyl.”
