As concerns mount about a possible recession this year, White House National Economic Council director Brian Deese argued that a second consecutive quarter of negative GDP growth was technically “not a recession.”

According to Deese, the “technical definition considers a much broader spectrum of data points.” He also emphasized the need to look ahead rather than “technical debates about backward-looking data.”

CNN “New Day” host John Berman said, “It sounds like you’re anticipating what will be comments from some saying two quarters of negative growth in a row — that’s a recession.”

“Right,” Deese replied. “And certainly, in terms of the technical definition, it’s not a recession. The technical definition considers a much broader spectrum of data points. But in practical terms, what matters to American people is whether they have a little economic breathing room, they have more job opportunities, their wages are going up. That has been Joe Biden’s focus since coming into office. He has had a view of the economy that we need to look to build from the bottom up.”

“What that means is typical working-class people in this country have had trouble affording things for years,” he continued. “He is focused on building a strong, durable, economic recovery here. We have real global challenges here in the short term. We’ve got to navigate our way through them, but we have to do so without giving up all our economic gains. That’s going to be our focus. And I think we need to train that focus on that rather than on sort of technical debates about backward-looking data.”

Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she would make a decision about running for president in 2024 “down the road.”

Anchor Jake Tapper said, “You’ve made it clear you don’t think Donald Trump shouldn’t be trusted with the presidency again. Are you willing to run for president to try to stop him? At least in part?”

Cheney said, “I haven’t really at this point. I’ve not made a decision about 2024. I am really very focused on the substance of what we have to do on the select committee. Very focus on the work that I have to do to represent the people of Wyoming. I’ll make a decision about 2024 down the road.”

She added, “But I do think as we look towards the next presidential election, as I said, I believe that our nation stands on the edge of an abyss. I do believe that we all have to really think very seriously about the dangers we face in the threats we face and we have to elect serious candidates. We’ve got to look people who will take their obligations and their oath seriously and who will deal with issues of substance with respect for people who have disagreements. And we’ve got to be able to come together and stop the very dangerous kind of politics we have lived through over the last year and a half certainly.”

Full Frontal with Samantha Bee won’t return to TBS in the fall, the latest apparent victim of Discovery’s takeover of WarnerMedia, which has caused upheavals throughout the corporation, including at CNN. In announcing its cancellation, the show couldn’t resist one final dig at Trump by making a reference to January 6.

Samantha Bee, 52, consistently used her ratings-challenged show to push a leftist agenda, whipping up anger against then-President Donald Trump (R) and his family. Her signature hectoring tone combined feminist rage with left-wing smugness — a noxious concoction that endeared her to Democratic elites but repelled general viewers, leaving her in the ratings dust compared to other late-night comedians.

The comedian recently called on her fans to harass Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, who penned the high court’s majority opinion overturning Roe v. Wade. On her show last month, she told her viewers to “raise hell in every restaurant Alito eats at for the rest of his life,” adding, “if Republicans have made our lives hell, it’s time to return the favor.”

When Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted this year, Bee complained that “this is not justice” while falsely claiming that Rittenhouse had incited violence when in fact the jury concluded he had acted in self-defense.

Bee has also attacked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), calling him a racist who should “eat shit.”

The comedian launched her TBS show in 2016 following a long stint as a correspondent for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Disinfo Board Redux: Former Google ‘Disinformation’ Expert Given Top White House Cyber Role

The White House’s Office of the National Cyber Director has a new Deputy National Cyber Director: Camille Stewart Gloster, a former Google executive who specialized in removing “disinformation” from the tech giant’s app store, and in her spare time rants about “systemic racism” in America.

In a tweet, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) accused the Biden administration of appointing a leftist “social justice warrior” to run the cyber office.

“The Big Tech, Big Government alliance continues,” said Sen. Hawley.

Gloster is a prime example of the extensively documented revolving door between Google and Democrat administrations. Prior to working for the tech giant, she was Senior Policy Advisor for Cyber, Infrastructure & Resilience Policy at the Department of Homeland Security under President Obama.

At Google, she was Head of Security Policy for Google Play and Android at Google, where she led “security, privacy, election integrity, and dis/mis-information.”

“Disinformation” and “misinformation” are terms used by tech and media elites as a pretext to suppress information they dislike. One such example is the Hunter Biden laptop story, which was baselessly condemned at the time of its publication as potential “Russian disinformation.”

Former security officials, Gloster’s professional peers, played a key role in giving legitimacy to the Russian scapegoat narrative.

In her tweets, Gloster has demonstrated her ability to tie far-left causes like “systemic racism” to the seemingly unrelated topic of cybersecurity.

“Systemic racism is a cybersecurity threat,” wrote Gloster in 2020, quoting an article from the Council on Foreign Relations.

“Cybersecurity is about people & ignoring how technology shows up in the lives of ALL people leaves us vulnerable,” said Gloster in a later tweet.

In 2020, following the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha Wisconsin, Gloster said America’s “#NatSec apparatus must be a part of dismantling systemic racism” (Blake, holding a knife at the time, had been physically fighting police before being shot).

The Office Of The National Cyber Director was established in 2021 with the goal of strengthening U.S. cybersecurity policy. Its first hires were from Microsoft and the CIA.

The hiring of a “misinformation” expert to fill this role falls in line with the Biden Administration’s trend of using the national security state for domestic political goals, the most prominent example being the Department of Homeland Security’s “disinformation governance board.” Gloster has already stated that the partisan notion of “systemic racism” should be a concern of the U.S. national security apparatus.
