The French were treated abominably by their government for 600 years. I have yet to hear a black American with a French surname comment on how their ancestors were liberated within 2 generations of the Louisiana Purchase, without slaughtering all the frogs.
According to a 19th French historian, the first attempt at Communism was in France. 2 villages went red. Within 2 years the survivors were all executed by their neighbors, for stealing. That was the end of it, until some craven dogs in London read this historian and decided it was a worthy scam.
