Turkish military base in Iraq targeted with 6 Grad missiles

Al Mayadeen correspondent in Iraq reported that a number of Grad missiles targeted Friday the Turkish army in the Zlikan military base, east of Mosul.

Iraqi Kurdistan Region's Directorate-General for Counter-Terrorism confirmed that the attack was carried out through a drone that launched missiles at the base, which resulted in human and material casualties.

It is noteworthy that the vicinity of the Zlikan military base in Nineveh province, northern Iraq, was also targeted last month with six missiles.

Iraq strongly condemns Turkish bombing of Nineveh

Earlier, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Turkish bombing that targeted government headquarters and civilian homes in Sinjar district, in Nineveh province.

In a statement, the Iraqi Ministry considered that the bombing represents a violation of Iraq's sovereignty "and a threat to the security of civilians, a number of whom were martyred and others were injured as a result of this act."

"This attack is a targeting of the security of Iraq and the stability of its people and requires a unified position to confront it," the statement stressed.

Turkey: 6 PKK militants killed in northern Iraq

This comes after the Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed in a tweet killing six militants from the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq as part of the so-called "Operation Claw-Lock."

On its part, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan bloc in the Iraqi Parliament underscored that the Turkish acts have become a heavy burden for the countries of the region and the international community.

The bloc called on the Iraqi government to fulfill its duty, protect the sovereignty of the state and the lives of citizens, and put an end to Turkey's actions.

It is noteworthy that the PKK has been involved in confrontations with the Turkish state since 1984.

Turkey, which has established military bases in northern Iraq for 25 years, announced on April 18 launching a new offensive against the PKK militants.

In a different context, the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced Friday the arrest of a dangerous terrorist in the Diyala Governorate.

According to a ministry statement, the arrested terrorist was responsible for ISIS' transportation and logistical support in the Governorate.
