who is giving the orders?
I have a strong suspicion that not only space force is overdue, but that also aliens are walking among us for a long time now.
so thinking about earth as the ballpark of a higher race, it could be that they try to shape us in a way that we accept them when they drop the camo.
what we seem to know so far:

they eat insects

they are not binary

they have overcome the concept of money and ownership

they view as as primitive and in need for shaping

in their society, parenthood does not exists, kids belong to the hive

they like planets warm
somewhere around that the alien race is trying to acclimate us to their maybe shocking culture.
