Trump backs out of G7 agreement, lashes out at 'meek and mild' Justin Trudeau for 'dishonest' press conference

President Trump lashed out at Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for being “dishonest” and “weak” and allegedly informed U.S. officials not to affirm the communique signed by the other G7 members.

"Based on Justin’s false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!" Trump tweeted en route to Singapore on Saturday.

Based on Justin’s false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 9, 2018

Trump accused the Canadian leader of acting “meek and mild” during their meetings in Quebec during the G7 summit and being “dishonest” in the way he portrayed the newly imposed U.S. tariffs.

“PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, ‘US Tariffs were kind of insulting’ and he ‘will not be pushed around."

PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, “US Tariffs were kind of insulting” and he “will not be pushed around.” Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 9, 2018

“Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!” the tweet continued.

Trudeau, along with other members of the G7, have spoken out in retaliation to Trump’s proposed heavy tariffs which he vowed to impose so these countries could stop taking “advantage” of the U.S.

Following Trump's Saturday departure from the G7 for Singapore, Trudeau held a press conference stating that all of the member nations, including the U.S., had signed a communique dedicated to lowering tariffs and other trade barriers.

His office responded to Trump's reneging on the deal with a brief statement.

"We are focused on everything we accomplished here at the summit. The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn’t said before — both in public, and in private conversations with the President."

Trump will meet with Kim Jong Un one-on-one at beginning of denuclearization summit: Report

President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un will meet one-on-one in a closed door meeting at the inception of the denuclearization summit in Singapore.

According to Bloomberg, the two heads of state will be alone, with the exception of personal translators, when they meet for the first time Tuesday. Subsequent meetings will involve both leaders' top aides.

Bloomberg adds that both Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton will join the president, despite Kim's supposed "strong dislike" for Bolton.

Before leaving for Singapore Saturday morning, Trump told reporters at the G7 summit in Canada that he'll be able to know "within the first minute" of his "mission of peace" whether Kim and North Korea are serious about denuclearization.

Pres. Trump says "within the first minute" he'll know if negotiations with Kim Jong Un will produce favorable outcome.

Reporters already on the ground in Singapore have noted signs of increased security at the hotels hosting this week's historic events.

The Shangri-La Hotel, host to the U.S. delegation, was designated a "special area" last week and will receive official protection from Singapore's government.

The North Korean delegation is expected to stay at the St. Regis Hotel. Reporters confirmed the installation of new security equipment, though the hotel would not comment on the installations nor Kim potentially booking rooms.

The summit itself will be held at the Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island.

Trump-Kim summit: Trump may discuss opening US embassy in Pyongyang

WASHINGTON - US President Donald Trump may discuss establishing official diplomatic ties with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and consider opening an American embassy in Pyongyang, a US media website reported, quoting sources.

Citing two sources familiar with preparations for the Singapore summit, the Axios news website reported on Saturday (June 9) that this was among topics that could be discussed during their talks on Tuesday.

"It's definitely been discussed," the unnamed source told Axios. "His view is: 'We can discuss that: It's on the table. Let's see.' Of course we would consider it. There's almost nothing he'll take off the table going in."

But nothing has been decided for sure or is necessarily expected to emerge from Mr Trump's talks with Mr Kim, the Axios report said.

The White House has not officially commented on the matter.

It's thing like this that a Nobel Peace Prize is awarded, or should be, would have been an honor for someone to receive it until it got bastardized with Obama

Apple Isn't Your Friend

Apple has been steadily positioning itself as the anti-Facebook for a while now, and between verbal jabs aimed at the social media giant and privacy-focused product decisions, the patient goodwill campaign seems to be working. Unfortunately, Apple isn’t going to save us, and now’s the time to keep your guard up.

There’s likely no other company on Earth that has defined its brand more deftly than Apple. Despite many examples that contradict its chosen set of associations, people generally think about perfectionism, ease of use, elegance, and innovation when they think about Apple. And due to its closed system of building its software and hardware in tandem and its long run as being the relatively virus-free alternative to Microsoft, the company has built a good reputation for security and privacy.

Now that Facebook’s endless cycle of scandals has opened up public awareness of what’s at stake in the battle for online privacy, and political will has, at least slightly, tilted towards doing something about it, Apple has seized an opportunity to remind people how great it is. Its CEO, Tim Cook, hasn’t passed up a single chance to mock Facebook’s troubles. When asked by Recode in April

what he would do to deal with Facebook’s cascade of privacy catastrophes, he snidely replied, “I wouldn’t be in this situation.”

Another choice line from that interview came when he said, “The truth is, we could make a ton of money if we monetized our customer—if our customer was our product. We’ve elected not to do that.” For the last few months, he’s made comments that were directly critical of Facebook’s entire business model on several occasions and even snuck in a thinly-veiled reference to its troubles giving the commencement speech at his alma mater, Duke University, in May. “We reject the excuse that getting the most out of technology means trading away your right to privacy,” he told the graduating students. Then he plugged Apple’s dedication to “collecting as little of your data as possible, being thoughtful and respectful when it’s in our care.” It’s all been the kind of thing that tech nerds quote-tweet with “sick burn” and “shots fired” captions.

Earlier this week, Apple received praise when it announced that macOS Mojave will come with updates to Safari that will make it harder than ever for third-parties to use a technique known as “browser fingerprinting” to track your activities. As we explained on Monday, advertising technology companies often analyze “the type of browser you’re using, your operating system, graphics hardware, screen size, browser plugins, software versions, timezone, language, system fonts, and whether cookies are enabled, among other characteristics” to identify you for marketing purposes—even when you’re using incognito mode. This is one of the many ways that Facebook tracks users around the web and creates shadow profiles for non-users.

That was my position as well., Vienna brings this full circle. Unless Lavrov throws the monkey wrench into it. He indicated a short time ago he didn't think it was a good idea. This guy as we know is corrupt as they come, question is what is Putin going to do about him?

I think more than anything, they are trying to hang on to the last bastion of what ever they can, while at the same time trying to make Trump appear unhinged and impulsive, in other words out of control, which is exactly what I think Merkel was up to with her posturing as well. What they haven't figured out yet is, it won't work. He has come up against many who thought they could affect him in this way. He won, with truth and poise.
