Well, that not a very good explanation if him. He's playing-up all the tropes that are developing here. In essence, he's trying to insert his self into this movement to be the quasi-Q like shepherd of the "sheep". Whether he work for Them or doing it for his ego is unclear. But it's a common pattern you see with any emerging social group. There are always people who insert themselves as "leaders" so they can monitor the group and lead them in certain directions at critical moments.
