Putin signs new Russian naval doctrine

The revised document reflects “geopolitical change” and seeks to strengthen the force’s resilience

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday gave his approval to a revised naval doctrine that takes into account the “change in the geopolitical and military-strategic situation in the world.”

The signing ceremony took place in the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg in the Peter and Paul Fortress, just before the start of the Navy Day parade. The president also signed a decree to approve the ship charter of the Russian Navy.

In May, Yury Borisov, then-deputy prime minister, explained that amid the ongoing military operation in Ukraine and “all-out hybrid war” launched by the West against Moscow, “building up capabilities to ensure and protect national interests in the world oceans” is vital for Russia.

“The adjusted Naval Doctrine takes into account the change in the geopolitical and military-strategic situation in the world,” Borisov said at the time.

According to him, the fundamentally new provisions of the doctrine relate to preparing for mobilization and mobilization readiness in the area of maritime activities.

“What is especially important now, all these measures will ensure the commissioning of civilian ships and crews into the Navy, as well as the operation of maritime infrastructure facilities in wartime,” he explained.

At the same time, Borisov, who was recently appointed as head of the Russian space agency, Roscosmos, stressed that the new version of the doctrine is not aimed at confrontation but rather seeks to strengthen national maritime security and significantly reduce the Navy's dependence on external factors and market conditions.

Russia's naval doctrine was first adopted in 2001. Its previous version, which was intended to be in effect for five years and had been amended to reflect the expansion of NATO and accession of Crimea to Russia, was approved by Putin in July 2015. It provided for an increase in the Russian fleet’s presence in the Arctic, the Black and Mediterranean Seas, as well as in the Atlantic Ocean.

Historic and modern boats on display at Russia’s Navy Day (PHOTOS)

Vessels from bygone eras sailed alongside the Navy’s modern fleet in the Neva River in St. Petersburg

Russia celebrated its Navy Day on Sunday with annual parades across the country, including the main one in the city of St. Petersburg.

This year’s event marked 350 years since the birth of Peter the Great, the 18th-century Russian emperor who created the country’s first regular Navy and founded the city that bears his name, which is now Russia’s second largest.

The parade was led by a full-sized replica of the ship of the line Poltava, one of many vessels ordered by Peter the Great. The 54-gun battleship was named after a major victory over the invading Swedish army during the Great Northern War (1700-1721).

The landing ship Ivan Pasko was carried aboard Peter the Great’s wooden sailboat dubbed ‘The Grandfather of the Russia Navy.’ The historic vessel is normally kept at the Central Naval Museum of St. Petersburg.

The four-masted barque Sedov, one of the world’s biggest sailing ships in operation, also took part in the celebration. The 100-year-old vessel, which is still used to train sailing crews, was built in Germany and handed over to the Soviet Union as part of World War II reparations.

Among the modern ships in the Neva River was the stealth nuclear-powered Severodvinsk, which is designed for missions under the Arctic ice and equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles. It was the first submarine to launch a Zircon hypersonic anti-ship missile in 2021.

In a speech kicking off the parade, President Vladimir Putin declared that the Navy would start receiving the Zircons “in the coming months.” The first warship to be armed with the weapon is the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which carried out the initial test of the missile in 2020.

The St. Petersburg parade concluded with flybys by dozens of naval aircraft, including a squad of Su-25 jet fighters, which painted the sky in the white, blue and red of the Russian flag.

Justice Department Says Militia Group Cannot Blame Donald Trump for Entering Capitol on January 6

Jordan Dixon-Hamilton31 Jul 2022

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is arguing the founder and members of the Oath Keepers militia group who entered the U.S. Capitol on January 6 cannot blame former President Donald Trump for their actions.

DOJ lawyers argued Trump lacked the authority to authorize an attack on the Capitol, which should prevent Oath Keepers’ lawyers from blaming the former President.

The United States said in a filing:

President Trump did not have the authority to permit or authorize a conspiracy to forcibly oppose the authority of the government or the execution of the laws of the United States, nor could he have lawfully sanctioned the attack on the United States Capitol on Jan. 6 or any of the other criminal conduct allegedly perpetrated by defendants.

Trump’s critics often blame him for inciting the Capitol riot during a speech held hours before the breach. The House of Representatives ultimately impeached Trump in the aftermath of the Capitol riot.

Federal prosecutors also want the judge toprohibit the defendants “from arguing that any failure to act by law enforcement rendered their conduct legal.” Accused rioters often argue they were effectively let into the Capitol by members of the Capitol police.

The federal trial of Oath Keepers founder Elmer Stewart Rhodes and other members of the militia group is set to begin on September 26, Bloomberg reported.

The judge in the case recently denied Rhodes’ request to dismiss the charges against him and rejected a request to move the trial outside of Washington D.C. due to potential jury pool bias.

Trusted Aide Kate Bedingfield Reverses Decision to Bail on Joe Biden

Simon Kent31 Jul 2022

She was in, she was out, and now she’s back in again. Confused yet? In a last-minute change of mind, White House communications director Kate Bedingfield has reversed her decision to leave her job.

Bedingfield had previously said she would step down at the end of July after years advising President Joe Biden, serving him as communications director when he was vice president.

She also joined Biden’s 2020 campaign as the deputy campaign manager and director of communications.

Initial news of Bedingfield’s departure broke after White House press secretary Jen Psaki also left her position, which sparked additional departures, as Breitbart News reported.

But this week, UPI reports she backflipped under pressure to reconsider from Biden and Chief of Staff Ron Klain.

“After much thought, discussion and reflection, I’ve decided to stay,” Bedingfield emailed colleagues on Friday, as reported by CNN and the New York Times. “I’m not done here and there is so much more good work to do with all of you.

She continued: “I couldn’t be happier and more excited about this awesome — if admittedly last-minute! — development. The work is too important and too energizing and I have a lot of gas left in the tank.”

Klain had high praise for Bedingfield’s performance as White House communications director.

“Without Kate Bedingfield’s talent and tenacity, Donald Trump might still be in the White House, the Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Law might still be unrealized goals, and Ketanji Brown Jackson might not be sitting on the Supreme Court,” Klain said in a statement.

Praise for Bedingfield defied her performance when Biden was vice president and she served as his point person on the issue of Hunter Biden’s corrupt ties to the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

She notably forcefully lied about the authenticity of Hunter Biden’s laptop during the 2020 campaign.

Questions about Hunter Biden’s corruption, she argued before a presidential debate, were only “amplifying Russian misinformation.”

BBC ‘Disappearing Women’ by Filling Gender Quotas with Trans Staff

Peter Caddle31 Jul 2022

A senior insider within Britain’s state-owned BBC has claimed that the broadcaster is now “disappearing women” by allowing gender quotas to be filled by “trans” individuals.

In what appears to be the latest episode of the left eating itself, insiders within the British Broadcasting Corporation have claimed that the organisation is “disappearing women” by allowing trans individuals who would have historically been seen as men to fulfil gender quotas for women.

The BBC — which is funded by the United Kingdom’s mandatory TV tax — had implemented a hardline “50:50” regime of gender diversity quotas back in 2017 as part of a progressive push to increase the representation of women within the organisation.

However, according to a report by The Telegraph, these diversity quotas are now falling to the newer progressive wave of transgenderism, to the chagrin of some in the organisation.

“The BBC has now ‘disappeared’ women as a sex class and instead monitors ‘gender identity’,” one senior staff member — who described the BBC as still being a “deeply sexist organisation where these concerns raised by women are dismissed” — told the publication.

Meanwhile, the paper reports another unnamed insider as criticising the “50:50” regime as meaningless due to the system of counting now depending on “the producer’s conception of what gender is”, making the otherwise “binary” data unreliable.

A spokesman from the BBC reportedly rejected the concerns as “an attempt to generate a story where none exists” — though one senior insider rejected this defence.

“This feels like discrimination even via the press office, being publicly scoffed at by your employer,” they said, having also argued that the statement showed “the BBC lacks basic understanding of the issue at hand”.

While progressive infighting rages on within the halls of the publicly-funded BBC, the issue of transgenderism has garnered more and more attention within the United Kingdom’s public discourse, with criticism growing as to its effects as a medical treatment in particular.

Such concerns appeared to reach a new height recently after it was announced that the infamous child trans treatment clinic, the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) of the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust, was being shut down after being found to be unsafe for the children it was supposedly treating.

In particular, the service was found to overly focus on transgenderism while not sufficiently addressing other mental health issues in its patients.

With warning signs about treatment at the clinic not being up to snuff been visible for months if not years, many who have previously expressed criticism of the clinic have asked why pressure was not put on the government to act sooner, with former candidate for Tory leader Kemi Badenochy criticising British opposition parties for not raising the issue in Parliament.

Where was the furore in parliament as these women suffered?”the former candidate asked in an opinion piece published by The Times on Saturday.

“A healthy opposition would have pushed government to solve the problem sooner,” she wrote. “Instead Labour, the Liberal Democrats, and the [Scottish National Party] were on the wrong side of the debate, captured by gender-identity ideologues.”

“Notable exceptions, such as MPs Rosie Duffield and Joanna Cherry, were ostracised by their party leadership who refused to look at the evidence, preferring to posture on social media and chant slogans in parliament,” she added.

UK Govt Told to Pay Damages After National Health Service Killed Patients with Tainted Blood

Breitbart London31 Jul 2022

LONDON (AP) – The head of an inquiry into a tainted blood scandal that killed 2,400 people in Britain urged the government to pay survivors and bereaved partners at least 100,000 pounds ($120,000) each in compensation immediately.

The government said Saturday it would consider the recommendation “with the utmost urgency.”

Thousands of haemophiliacs and other hospital patients were infected with HIV or Hepatitis C during the 1970s and ’80s through tainted blood products, largely imported from the United States. The situation has been called the worst treatment disaster in the history of Britain’s health care system.

Brian Langstaff, a retired judge who is chairing the inquiry, said Friday that payments to the more than 2,000 partners and survivors shouldn’t wait until his long-running probe is finished because of the “profound physical and mental suffering” caused by the tragedy.

The contaminated blood was linked to supplies of a clotting agent called Factor VIII,which British health services bought from the U.S.Some of the plasma used to make the blood products was traced to high-risk donors, including prison inmates, who were paid to give blood samples.

After years of campaigning by victims, an inquiry began in 2019. A final report is expected next year.

Three former UK health secretaries — Labour’s Andy Burnham and Conservatives Jeremy Hunt and Matt Hancock — urged the government to heed Langstaff’s recommendation.

“Successive governments, which I was part of one, didn’t act as quickly as they should have, and we need to recognize this as a terrible, terrible injustice,” Hunt said.

Nolte: 400 TV Personnel Crybaby to Hollywood Studios About ‘Safety’ in Pro-life States

John Nolte30 Jul 2022

The headline reads, “More Than 400 TV Showrunners Demand Netflix, Disney and More Offer Safety Protocols in Anti-Abortion States,” but I think we all know what it reallymeans….

More than 400 fully grown adults, who also happen to be wealthy, helpless, neurotic, and angry crybabies, got together to demand the Hollywood studios make them feel safe in anti-abortion states.

Why?

—Because leftists are weak, spoiled, perpetual victims who always have tantrums like this whenever things don’t go their way__.

Get a load of this…

The letter, obtained by Variety, is signed by A-list talent such as Shonda Rhimes, Issa Rae, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Natasha Lyonne, Ava DuVernay and many more. It puts the U.S.’s biggest content creators on notice that the companies need to outline specific protections for those working in states that have outlawed abortion in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade.

“It is unacceptable to ask any person to choose between their human rights and their employment,” the letter reads in part.

The letter escalates the vexed issue of what companies such as Netflix and Disney should do with productions in states with anti-abortion laws that were triggered by Dobbs, such as Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. The writers are demanding published policies for how the companies will subsidize employees’ travel to obtain abortions, as well as how employee privacy will be protected. They want protocols for medical care for “ectopic pregnancies and other pregnancy complications that require medical treatment.”They’re demanding criminal and civil indemnification for anyone helping an employee obtain an abortion.

The emphasis is mine…

Can you believe this?

What are these people—animals who can’t control themselves?

You know, not getting pregnant is a lot easier than getting pregnant.

The letter is also a lie that claims “ectopic pregnancies” are outlawed in certain states when they are not.

My favorite, though, is requesting the studios guarantee “criminal and civil indemnification for anyone helping an employee obtain an abortion.” Yeah, I know these billion-dollar multinational corporations enjoy all kinds of power, but at least for now, they do not have the power to offer protections from criminal and civil laws. Fortunately, we haven’t yet reached the inevitable Robocop stage of our society.

How about a little self-control?

How about a little birth control if you can’t control yourself?

How about driving a couple of hundred miles on your day off to a state that will allow you to butcher your innocent child?

You could also fly to another state. It’s not like you don’t have the money.

You see, but these babies see none of this is an option because big, spoiled, helpless, vindictive babies such as these are always determined to make their problems yourproblems.

Their childish need to lash out at an unfair world means they have to crash through your window and complicate your life rather than just deal with things on their own—which is what normal, mature, strong adults do.

Overall, though, this is blackmail, a way to bully the studios into blacklisting states that have had the gall not to allow these monsters to butcher their innocent children. The goal here is to make life so difficult that the studios choose other states to work in.

This will almost certainly succeed.

The good news is that we have one more example of just how weak and pathetic left-wing women are.

Oh, yeah, you’ve come a long way, baby.

P.S. These states want to save your child. You want to kill it. So whose “safety” is in actual jeopardy here?

Trump speaks out against US-Russia prisoner swap

The former president has argued that trading an arms dealer for “spoiled” basketball star Brittney Griner wouldn’t be a good deal

Former US President Donald Trump has weighed in on his successor’s proposed prisoner swap with Russia, arguing that trading a dangerous arms dealer for “potentially spoiled” basketball star Brittney Griner wouldn’t be a good exchange for Washington.

At issue is last week’s proposal by President Joe Biden’s administration to make a trade for Griner and former US Marine Paul Whelan in a deal that would reportedly include Russian arms trafficker Viktor Bout, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in Illinois. Griner was arrested at a Russian airport in February for allegedly trying to smuggle hashish oil into the country, where she plays professional basketball during the WNBA offseason.

“She went in there loaded up with drugs into a hostile territory where they’re very vigilant about drugs,” Trump said on Saturday in a radio interview. “They don’t like drugs, and she got caught. And now we’re supposed to get her out — and she makes, you know, a lot of money, I guess – but we’re supposed to get her out for an absolute killer and one of the biggest arms dealers in the world. [Bout] killed many Americans, killed many people.”

Bout, who is nicknamed the ‘Merchant of Death’, sold former Soviet weapons that were allegedly used in wars around the world, including Afghanistan, Angola, Congo, and Lebanon. He was charged with conspiring to kill Americans and convicted in 2011 after being extradited from Thailand.

Trump, who made his comments on the ‘Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show,’ argued that Griner knowingly went into Russia with drugs and admitted her offense. Swapping Bout for Griner “certainly doesn’t seem like a very good trade, does it? He’s absolutely one of the worst in the world, and he’s gonna be given his freedom because a potentially spoiled person goes into Russia loaded up with drugs.”

Mike Pompeo, who served as secretary of state in the Trump administration, also has criticized the proposed prisoner swap. Releasing Bout would create “a real risk” to the US, he said in a Fox News interview. “To offer a trade like this is a dangerous precedent.”

Moscow has reportedly made a counteroffer to the Biden administration, asking that Vadim Krasikov, a Russian national convicted last year of murder in Germany, be included in the prisoner trade. Russia made the request to free Krasikov through “an informal backchannel” used by the FSB security agency, CNN reported on Friday.

Americans shouldn’t care about Ukraine, US conservative argues

Ann Coulter accused the US-led NATO alliance of “encroaching” on Russia

Conservative US author Ann Coulter has argued that the US and UK “have [their] own problems” and shouldn’t care about Ukraine, which she pointed out was historically under Russian influence. With British broadcaster Piers Morgan vehemently disagreeing, Coulter blamed the expansion of the NATO alliance for the current conflict.

Speaking to Morgan on Thursday, Coulter declared “on the NATO thing, I’m with Noam Chomsky, Pat Buchannan, George Kennan, once the Soviet Union fell there’s no point to NATO, and we keep encroaching, encroaching, encroaching,” referring to the alliance’s expansion into Eastern Europe since the fall of the USSR, something its leaders assured Russia it would not do.

Morgan, a staunch supporter of Ukraine who recently interviewed Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his wife Elena, argued otherwise, claiming that Russia’s military operation in Ukraine proves “that’s what NATO’s there for.”

“I’m sorry, Ukraine was historically part of the Russian empire of influence,” Coulter countered. “I’m not defending Putin… but why should Americans care about this? We have our own problems. Why should the British care about this?”

Over Morgan accusing her of wanting “the Soviet Union back,” Coulter said that the UK should focus on reducing immigration, and while Morgan brought up American assistance to Britain during World War II, Coulter countered that Putin is “not attacking England.”

“You can’t compare everything to Hitler,” Coulter sneered.

Coulter is known for her anti-interventionism, and threw her support behind then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016 after he vowed to end America’s “endless wars.” Less than a week after Russian troops entered the country this February, she called on Republicans to “stop talking about Ukraine.”

Claiming that support for Ukraine ultimately means more money for US defense contractors, she called on the party to do something about inflation, immigration, crime, and anti-white racism in schools.

“Republicans ought to be talking their heads off about the unprecedented crisis at our border, illegal aliens hauling meth and fentanyl into our country, rampant shoplifting, carjacking and assaults destroying neighborhoods in our country,” she wrote at the time.

Putin reveals imminent delivery of new hypersonic missiles

The frigate Admiral Gorshkov will be the first vessel to be equipped with the weapon

Russia’s naval fleet will start receiving the newest Zircon hypersonic anti-ship cruise missiles “in the coming months,” President Vladimir Putin has said.

The Russian president praised the weapon on Sunday, saying that “no obstacles” can stop the rockets.

“The Russian Armed Forces will start receiving them in the coming months,” Putin said during a Navy Day speech in St. Petersburg. “The first ship equipped with this mighty weapon will be the frigate Admiral Gorshkov,” he added.

According to Putin, the frigate’s exact deployment will be chosen “in accordance with the interest of maintaining Russia’s security.”

Putin added that Russia will defend its maritime interests “resolutely and with all its capabilities.”

[Our fleet] can respond with lightning speed to anyone who has decided to encroach on our sovereignty and freedom.

The missile, which can travel up to 1,500km (932 miles) when launched from surface ships, was first tested in 2020.
