Elementary school promotes book for kindergartners about ‘gender identity’

The principal at a Minnetonka elementary school recently promoted a book on “gender identity” for kids as young as 5.

Stacey DeCorsey, principal at Excelsior Elementary School in Minnetonka’s public school district, gave a brief video update about the upcoming year on the school’s Facebook page.

DeCorsey plugged a couple books for elementary students to read over the final 40-odd days of summer, including Erica Silverman’s “Jack (Not Jackie).”

“Jack (Not Jackie)” is a picture book written for kids in kindergarten through second grade that attempts to normalize transgenderism. DeCorsey called the book a “phenomenal read” and said it’s being added to the school’s media center.

“In this heartwarming picture book, a big sister realizes that her little sister, Jackie, doesn’t like dresses or fairies — she likes ties and bugs! Will she and her family be able to accept that Jackie identifies more as ‘Jack’?” the book description reads.

“She wants to play with mud and be a super bug! Jackie also doesn’t like dresses or her long hair, and she would rather be called Jack … Readers will love this sweet story about change and acceptance,” the description adds.

“Jack (Not Jackie)” ends with the main character’s older sister and book narrator, Susan, acknowledging that “Jack” is her “brother.”

DeCorsey is far from the only school official or teacher in the Twin Cities area promoting leftist gender ideology. One Minneapolis preschool teacher posted a TikTok video in May about 3-year-old students affirming the teacher’s “trans/queer” identity.

“So today was full of little happy gender euphoria moments,” the teacher said. “I got called ‘Mr. Micah’ a lot today … and that was really heartwarming that the kids just got it.”

Back in February, Rep. Angie Craig read from the U.S. House floor a children’s book about a young girl who comes to identify herself as a boy.

“It is critically important to make sure that transgender and nonbinary youth not only feel supported but valued and affirmed for who they are,” Craig commented.

According to campaign finance reports, Soros personally gifted $250,000 to the Minnesota DFL State Central Committee in January of this year.

Minnesotans might recognize Soros from his involvement in the campaign to abolish the Minneapolis Police Department. Soros’ Open Society Policy Center donated $500,000 to a group called “Vote Yes 4 Minneapolis,” according to a February 2021 report from the Minnesota Reformer.

That group was created for the sole purpose of campaigning to replace the city’s police department with a “Department of Public Safety.”

Minneapolis voters overwhelmingly rejected the idea by 12 percentage points last November.

According to a June 2022 report from the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund, Soros has provided $40 million over the past decade to help elect 75 prosecutors. That means 20% of Americans, and half of America’s most populous cities, are represented by a Soros-backed prosecutor.

“Soros uses a series of shell organizations, affiliates, and pass-through committees to steer contributions to both candidates and his robust support network for progressive prosecutors, which provide gravitas and perks to preferred prosecutors,” the report says.

Since 2018 alone, Soros has spent $13 million on 10 prosecutors’ races, according to the report.

“Crime and violence surged following the election of many of these reform prosecutors. And critically, the rise in most of these prosecutors’ jurisdictions predates the nation-wide 2020 crime spike,” the report adds.

Many of these prosecutors have faced criticism for their failure to hold violent criminals accountable, the report concludes.

Alpha News reached out to the Minnesota DFL for comment but did not receive a response. This story will be updated if a response is received.

Democrat controlled Hennepin Juvenile Detention Center does not hold property crime offenders

Three teenage boys have been arrested for their involvement in a 48-hour crime spree spanning Edina and Minneapolis, the Edina Police Department announced Friday.

Police said the crime spree began July 23 when the juvenile suspects stole an Audi Q3 in the Southdale area of Edina.

They then used the vehicle in five purse-snatchings, including three in the 50th and France area in both Edina and Minneapolis.

Police located the stolen vehicle July 25 and arrested the teenagers involved in the incidents.

Police said they have added extra patrols to the 50th and France area.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher has been sounding the alarm on the “failed juvenile justice system” for the past several months.

He said three juvenile offenders were involved in a crime spree from July 5-7 across the suburbs of Edina, Eden Prairie, Roseville, Bloomington, and Minnetonka.

The spree began on July 5 with five thefts in the span of three hours in Edina, he said. They allegedly went on to steal two BMWs and a Tesla from homes in Eden Prairie and Minnetonka.

“The suspects were apprehended and had two handguns on them,” Fletcher said. “They were released to their parents because the Hennepin Juvenile Detention Center does not hold property crime offenders. All three suspects have an auto theft history and two have a weapons history prior to this arrest. Back on the streets.”

After their release, two were seen stealing from a Speedway Gas Station on July 12 and attempted to flee in a stolen Kia by ramming a Minneapolis squad car, Fletcher said. They were arrested and released to their parents.

Two days later, July 14, one of the suspects was arrested yet again by Edina police after he rammed one of their squad cars with a stolen vehicle from Brooklyn Park, Fletcher said.

On July 15, two of the juveniles were arrested for a third time, according to Fletcher. Fletcher said they robbed several female victims in Minneapolis and punched them in the face.

Felon free on stayed sentences now charged in Northeast Minneapolis, Minnesota home invasion

Villagomez has a lengthy criminal history with 22 convictions, including three felonies.

A multi-time felon who was recently granted multiple stayed sentences, including on two violent crime cases, has now been charged in a home invasion in Northeast Minneapolis.

Gordon Roy Villagomez, 33, of Blaine, was charged Wednesday with one felony count of first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling.

The criminal complaint says a female occupant was sitting in the living room when she heard banging on the external glass door to the three-season porch.

The female then saw the suspect break the outer door and enter the three-season porch. The suspect then broke through the internal three-season porch door and entered the living room.

The complaint states the female resident was extremely upset and was concerned for her life when she saw the suspect breaking into the home.

Villagomez made his first court appearance on Thursday and was granted a public defender. Villagomez remained in custody Friday evening on a $3,000 conditional release cash bail amount. His next hearing in the case is scheduled for Aug. 22.

Criminal history

Villagomez has a lengthy criminal history with 22 convictions, including three felonies. According to court records, Villagomez received stays of imposition in two separate felony cases in Anoka County in May 2022, including third-degree assault and domestic assault by strangulation; both are violent crimes.

Judge Kristin C. Larson placed Villagomez on supervised probation in the two felony cases with no time to serve.

Villagomez was also in Hennepin County Court on July 8 when he was convicted on a gross misdemeanor count of violating a domestic abuse no contact order (DANCO).

Villagomez received a sentence of 365 days in jail on that conviction. However, Judge Edward Thomas Wahl stayed the sentence and ordered Villagomez to serve zero time. Villagomez was again placed on probation.

Villagomez’s other convictions include felony fleeing police, which was also stayed in Anoka County Court in 2021, two recent convictions on misdemeanor domestic abuse-violate an order for protection, damage to property, several DWIs, trespassing, and driving after suspension.

Four warrants have now been issued for Villagomez out of Anoka County for probation violations on the prior three felony cases and one gross misdemeanor case involving DWI. Court records show Villagomez also faces a probation violation hearing on the Hennepin County DANCO violation case.

Shortly after midnight, several suspects fired an estimated 100 rounds of automatic gunfire At least two firearms were recovered and at least one had a “switch” installed making it fully automatic. At least one of the suspects was described as an adult.

Minneapolis is paying a brutal price for turning its back on its own police department in recent years.

Calls to defund and dismantle the police department, politically charged prosecutions of officers, have emboldened criminals.

That is a dangerous combination. We saw the results last night, and there is no reason to believe things will improve anytime soon.

Minneapolis remains without a permanent police chief 7 months after Chief Arrandondo retired. The department has only 564 officers, down from nearly 850 just a few years ago. Mayor Frey will be in court in August to answer why the city has failed to maintain the minimum of 731 officers it is mandated to employ per the city charter.

The city desperately needs more officers on the street. The token numbers of state troopers, BCA agents, and sheriff’s deputies who are occasionally patrolling the city are just not enough.

Shots-fired incidents are on pace to exceed 10,000 for the second year in a row.

Car jackings, which doubled to nearly 650 in 2021, are on pace to exceed that in 2022.

The police department’s 3rd precinct sits vacant two years after city leadership ordered the police to vacate the building rather than defend it against mobs of protestors. Those protestors were emboldened by the retreat and torched the police precinct. It stands as a trophy to criminality.

38th and Chicago, a major intersection a few miles south of the burned-out precinct, is Minneapolis’s version of an autonomous zone. Businesses have walked away from their properties, while barricades and memorials to George Floyd dominate the streets and parking lots in the area.

The downtown entertainment district and sporting venues have been hit hard. Rarely does a week go by without a story of citizens being assaulted, robbed, shot in the crossfire, or just harassed while downtown or attending a ballgame in the evening. A recent Twins homestand with the Yankees averaged over 10,000 empty seats – that just hasn’t happened in the past.

Metro Transit is under the same strain. Stories of riders being assaulted, robbed, or harassed while trying to ride the light rail are commonplace. Ridership has decreased by half since pre-pandemic days, and safety is often cited as a primary reason. Those that are riding are often criminals and homeless who openly use drugs, urinate and defecate, and sleep in the isles of the train cars.

“I felt so unsafe that I preferred walking three miles … to and from work. The Green Line was like a dystopian nightmare during this time.”

We have never seen such a public safety crisis in Minneapolis. And this is the city the New York Times labeled “Murderapolis,” in the mid 90’s.

We desperately need public safety-minded leaders to step forward. These leaders must boldly support law enforcement and call out criminals and those in the system that excuse and perpetuate criminal behavior.

Without that leadership, Minneapolis will continue to draw closer to a “no-recovery zone.”
