US envoy makes unannounced visit to 'Israel' after Lebanon

US mediator in the indirect talks between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation on the demarcation of the maritime borders in the Mediterranean Sea, Amos Hochstein, arrived in occupied Palestine in an announced visit following his meeting with Lebanese officials across the border on Monday.

The US official landed in occupied Palestine late Monday, and the matter was first reported by Walla! on Tuesday morning.

Hochstein is set to meet with two Israeli officials in the occupation's energy ministry, the foreign ministry, and the National Security Council. He reportedly already had a discreet meeting with Israeli occupation Prime Minister Yair Lapid.

Lebanese Energy Minister Walid Fayyad reportedly said on Sunday that Hochstein brought "a new proposal to the Lebanese officials, and he told me that it was positive and denied any rumors about joint excavations between Lebanon and Israel."

Reports on the meeting indicated that the US mediator would be delivering "Israel's" answer to a Lebanese proposal for full control over the Qana gas field in exchange for Beirut dropping its claims on the Karish gas field.

A Lebanese diplomatic source later said Lebanon "rejected an Israeli offer to give Beirut part of Block 8 north of Line 23," in exchange for "Israel's relinquishment of the Qana gas field."

The source told the Russian news agency, Sputnik, that "the Israeli offer includes 'Israel's' relinquishment of the Qana field in return for Line 23, minus an area that must be ceded located north of the line, specifically the southwestern part of Block 8."

"The Israeli offer was rejected by Beirut," he said. "Lebanon stuck to its right in the Qana field and refused to give up any square meter in Block 8."

Hochstein said Monday he "remained optimistic" on the two sides making progress toward a deal, saying he looked forward to returning to the region to make a "final arrangement" on the issue that led to regional tensions between Beirut and "Tel Aviv" with threats of military escalation on both sides.

Hochstein came to Lebanon carrying an Israeli proposal in response to a Lebanese demarcation proposal sent to "Tel Aviv" in June, marking his second visit to Beirut in two months.

The US envoy met with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, Prime Minister Najib Mikatim, and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at the presidential palace in Baabda.

Lebanon is looking to clinch "a deal that preserves its rights and its wealth and that could provide, as soon negotiations are over, an opportunity to revitalize the economy," Aoun said ahead of Monday's meeting.

As Hochstein landed in the country, the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon military media published a video that displayed the coordinates of the Israeli occupation's gas rigs off the coasts of occupied Palestine in a clear message to "Tel Aviv".

The video showed footage of the drillship and the floating production unit alongside information pertaining to the specifics of their geolocation, giving their coordinates and information regarding the origin and details of the ships at sea based on the flags they bear. Moreover, the video displayed the exact distance of each ship from Lebanese shores.

The video was entitled: "[You are] in our crosshair… stalling is not beneficial."

Israeli media: Preparations in south for possible scenarios

Israeli media said today, Monday, that the Israeli occupation forces are cautious because they expect an attack by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) against the background of the arrest of the movement’s official Bassam Al-Saadi yesterday.

Or Heller, the Israeli commentator on Channel 13, said that "the scenario they are preparing for in the south (because of Al-Saadi's arrest) is the launch of anti-armor missiles, a Kornet missile with a range of 5 and a half kilometers."

Heller added, "We see that the Israeli army ducks in face of a potential attack by Palestinian Islamic Jihad," adding "this tension will last for the coming days," with messages from Israel to Hamas and the PIJ through the Egyptians, advising "not to take the initiative to escalate the situation in Gaza because of an arrest operation in Jenin."

Yesterday, special units of the Israeli occupation stormed the house of the PIJ official Bassam Al-Saadi and arrested him and his brother-in-law Ashraf Al-Jadaa in his home in the Jenin camp after assaulting them and took them to an unknown destination.

Ezz El-Din Al-Saadi, the son of the PIJ official, said that "the occupation arrested his father and his sister's husband," noting that his father "was injured during the storming."

The Palestinian resistance factions warned the occupation against harming Al-Saadi's life, declaring alertness and stepping up the readiness of the operating combat units, especially since the blood in the house of Sheikh Al-Saadi confirms he was injured before he was kidnapped.

Israeli media spoke about "fear of escalation after the arrest of Bassam Al-Saadi," stressing that "the Israeli army arrested Al-Saadi, who was taken wounded, and reports say he was seriously injured in his stomach."

The military correspondent of the Israeli occupation forces radio said that there is an "extraordinary alert in the Gaza area, at a scale that we have not seen since 'Operation Guardian of the Walls.'

Israeli official: Border agreement with Lebanon is complete surrender

Israeli media quoted Tuesday a senior Israeli official in the gas sector as saying that the maritime border demarcation agreement that is taking shape with Lebanon is a complete surrender by "Israel".

The official was quoted by Yinon Magal, a journalist for the Israeli Channel 14, on his Twitter account.

The Israeli official considered that the agreement is a complete surrender by Israeli occupation Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Israeli Security Minister Benny Gantz to Lebanon, noting that "Israel's" submission is a great victory for Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

The official warned that if "Israel" conducts similar negotiations on other matters, the situation will be very worrying.

Earlier, Israeli media revealed that Lapid secretly met Monday with US mediator Amos Hochstein.

Lebanon rejects Israeli offer on demarcation of borders

A Lebanese diplomatic source confirmed on Monday that Lebanon "rejected an Israeli offer to give Beirut part of Block 8 north of Line 23", in exchange for "Israel's relinquishment of the Qana gas field."

The source told the Russian news agency, Sputnik, that "The Israeli offer includes 'Israel's' relinquishment of the Qana field in return for Line 23, minus an area that must be ceded located north of the line, specifically the southwestern part of Block 8."

The source explained that "the Israeli offer was rejected by Beirut," adding that "Lebanon stuck to its right in the Qana field and refused to give up any square meter in Block 8."

Al Mayadeen's correspondent confirmed Monday that Hochstein's meeting with the three heads of political power in Lebanon ended and no final result was reported, noting that "no agreement has been reached yet, but only talks about the need for more time."

Lebanese sources told Al Mayadeen's correspondent that the US mediator wants to reach a quick solution before summer ends and that the atmosphere was positive.

It is noteworthy that a couple of days ago, "Israel" submitted a proposal to the United States, and senior Israeli officials said that "Israel's position entails confirmation that it is ready to offer concessions regarding the disputed area with Lebanon, but it will not offer any concessions outside the disputed are."

Yediot Ahronoth also claimed that the Israeli occupation is optimistic about the maritime border negotiations with Lebanon.
