Pfizer Board Member Predicts Monkeypox Will Become A 'Public Health Failure'

Pfizer board member Dr. Scott Gottlieb warned that the United States lacks a federal infrastructure capable of dealing with public health emergencies such as monkeypox.

“Now if monkeypox ‌gains a permanent foothold in the U‌nited States and becomes an endemic virus that joins our circulating repertoire of pathogens, it will be one of the worst public health failures in modern times not only because of the pain and peril of the disease but also because it was so avoidable,” the former Food and Drug Administration head wrote in and op-ed for the New York Times.

“Our lapses extend beyond political decision making to the agencies tasked with protecting us from these threats.”

Gottlieb claimed the United States did not test enough people for the virus, which is overwhelmingly spreading via homosexual men, in the early part of the outbreak while the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) should have utilized commercial labs sooner. It wasn’t until June that the CDC expanded to using those labs, he noted.

Data released by the CDC shows monkeypox, which hasn’t caused any deaths outside Africa in the recent outbreak, has infected about 5,200 people in the United States as of Sunday. Wyoming, Montana, and Vermont are the only states that haven’t reported any cases so far.

Over the past several days, health departments in New York City and San Francisco declared the virus a public health emergency, allowing those municipalities to free up more funding and resources. Days before, the head of the World Health Organization declared monkeypox a global public health emergency.

“Its cultural instinct is to take a deliberative approach, debating each decision,” Gottlieb said of the CDC’s response. “With COVID, the virus ‌‌gained ground quickly. With ‌‌monkeypox, which spreads more slowly, typically through very close contact, the shortcomings of CDC’s cultural approach haven’t been as acute yet. But the shortfalls are the same.”

El Paso UPDATE: New Lawsuit Filed — Potential Manipulation by Election Judge Caught on Camera!

It’s time for an update on El Paso, CO where four candidates are involved in a recount effort to validate the election results from last June.

The Gateway Pundit has been following this recount closely. We’ve even caught the attention of the far-left CCP funded LeadStories with a bogus fact check.

This morning we learned that another petition has been filed by the candidates, this one including statewide candidate Tina Peters. The lawsuit calls for the recount process to be relinquished to the Secretary of State’s office rather than the local clerk and recorder. The petition argues that candidates who rendered partial payment for a recount are being excluded from the recount because they can’t afford the $10,000 “vendor programming” fee that has been charged to all candidates involved. Currently, each of the four candidates have paid $10,000 each to a “vendor”, believed to be Dominion, for 40 hours of work at $250/hour. The lawsuit argues that the other candidates shouldn’t be subject to this same barrier once the $10,000 payment has been accounted for.

In the petition’s Statement of Facts, they make reference to a significant admission by CISA, the federal agency overseeing election infrastructure. The reference was to the CISA advisory regarding J. Alex Halderman’s still sealed report out of Georgia.

In the CISA advisory, they recommend mitigation steps including “conducting rigorous post-election tabulation audits of the human-readable portions of the physical ballots and paper records, to include reviewing ballot chain of custody and conduction voter/ballot reconciliation procedures.” None of these are being followed. Rather, the recount is using the same vulnerable machines addressed in the advisory.

China begins military drills near Taiwan – reports

Beijing has vowed to “resolutely thwart” external interference from the US after Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

Beijing has begun conducting military drills off Taiwan after promising to launch a series of “targeted military operations” in response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to the self-governing island, Chinese media reported.

"The Eastern Zone of the PLA Combat Command is consistently conducting a series of joint military operations around the island of Taiwan," CCTV reported hours after Pelosi arrived on the island.

Pelosi touched down in Taipei late on Tuesday despite repeated warnings from Beijing against attempting to visit territory that it regards as an integral part of China.

“The Chinese People’s Liberation Army is on high alert and will launch a series of targeted military operations to counter this, resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and resolutely thwart external interference and ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist attempts,” defense ministry spokesman Wu Qian said, without providing any further detail.

In a separate statement, China’s Eastern Theater Command announced joint military drills off Taiwan, live-firing in the Taiwan Strait and missile test-launches in the sea east of Taiwan. The exercises kicked off early on Wednesday, footage circulated by Chinese CCTV shows.
