BREAKING: Active shooter alert issued by Joint Base San Antonio Lackland. Authorities are responding to reports of gunshots heard off base

 

UPDATE: The San Antonio Police Department reported at 10:26 a.m. that patrol officers are investigating a “shots fired” call off Medina Base Road, just outside Lackland’s gate. According to SAPD, there is no active shooter on base at this time, and there is no threat to the public. Officers are still looking into the incident.

 

Initial report:

On Tuesday, June 14, at 10 a.m., an active shooter alert was issued for Lackland Air Force Base.

 

Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland was placed on lockdown due to reports of gunshots off-base.

 

JBSA said in a tweet that security forces and local law enforcement are responding to reports in the area of the base.

 

According to an email sent to employees, all facilities in the Southwest area of Valley Hi and Truemper are on lockdown, and people are advised to take cover, KSAT reported.

 

It is currently unknown whether anyone was injured or where the shots were fired.
