A prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office has been found dead in his Swieqi home, but investigations have not yet established whether foul play was involved in his death.

The body of 43-year-old Karl Muscat was found at his home in Swieqi.

Police spokesperson Brandon Pisani said nothing is being excluded by the police, but said police did not believe that any third parties were involved “at this point”.

“The way the body was found means nothing can be excluded until the exact cause of death is established by an autopsy,” Pisani said.

MaltaToday is informed that no external signs of violence were seen on the body, but initial information suggested that the interior of the house "had been turned upside down".

However, Pisani denied that the house had been ransacked.

According to information received at MaltaToday, Muscat had recently been suspended from duties over what has been described as a contravention committed under the influence of alcohol.

A source with knowledge of the proceedings added that suspension was a standard procedure whenever a prosecutor faces any charges.

The son of former Nationalist junior minister for telecommunications Pierre Muscat, who had passed away in 1990, Muscat was formerly a Nationalist Party local councillor for Rabat, elected in 2019. He then resigned in October 2020 to take up his post with the Office of the Attorney General. Politically, he had fronted a petition supporting the leadership of Adrian Delia in 2019 at a time of party infighting.

The prosecutor had earned praise from the Maltese courts for attending several high-profile money laundering sittings instead of his colleagues when they were on strike.

In March Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech Court praised lawyer Karl Muscat for his dedication in the proceedings against Yorgen Fenech, the man accused of masterminding the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and Vince Buhagiar, the former chairman of Progress Press and Allied Group director accused of laundering kickbacks from former OPM Chief of Staff Keith Schembri’s Kasco Group.

Muscat was also leading the case against Ryan Schembri, the former More Supermarkets owner, who had fled the country in 2014 with a reported €40 million in debts.

Muscat was also representing the AG’s office in the proceedings against Christian Borg and five others individuals, accused of kidnapping a man in Rabat and threatening to cut off his fingers and rape his sister.

Professor Shmuel Shapira, M.D., MPH, the former Director General of the Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR), is one of the top medical scientists in the world, and since his “vaccine” injury, he’s become one of the world’s top critics of the COVID-19 shots.

“I received 3 vaccinations, I was physically injured in a very significant way as many others were injured,” Shapira tweeted on May 13, 2022. “And in addition, my trust in the nature of the decisions and in the processes of making them has been severely eroded.”

Shapira’s impressive resume was recently featured in an article in CTC Sentinel, the publication of the West Point Combatting Terrorism Center.

Professor Shmuel Shapira, M.D., MPH, served as the Director General of the Israel Institute for Biological Research (IIBR), Israel between 2013 and 2021. He is the founder and head of the Department of Military Medicine of the Hebrew University Faculty of Medicine and IDF Medical Corps. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) at Reichman University in Israel.

Professor Shapira previously served as Deputy Director General of the Hadassah Medical Organization and as the Director of the Hebrew University Hadassah School of Public Health. He is a Full Colonel (Res.) in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and served as the IDF Head of Trauma Branch. He is an authority on terror, trauma, emergency medicine and military medicine, and instructs medical students, physicians, EMS, medical leaders, and rescue teams on terror medicine, management of mass casualty’s events, military medicine, advanced trauma life support, and risk management. He has published more than 110 articles and is the editor of Essentials of Terror Medicine, Best Practice for Medical Management of Terror Incidents and Medical Response to Terror Threats. He is the author of The Pandemic Circus (Yediot Books, Rishon LeZion 2021).

Shapiro played a central role in the original development of Israel’s BriLife COVID-19 vaccine, which is based on a virus platform. After two years of development, the vaccine is only in phase 3 trials due to red tape, he told the CTC Sentinel. “We were affected a lot by bureaucracy, and this really delayed us.”

Last week, Twitter censored Shapira for posting “disinformation” after he suggested that the Monkey Pox outbreak could be related to the mRNA vaccines.

“Monkey pox cases were rare for years. During the last years a single case was documented in Israel,” he tweeted. “It is well established the mRNA vaccines affect the natural immune system. A monkey pox outbreak following massive covid vaccination: Is not a coincidence.”

Twitter forced the expert in biological research and military medicine to take the tweet down.
