Greece to Lebanon: Vessel in Mediterranean not owned by government

Abdallah Bou Habib, the Lebanese Foreign Minister told Al Mayadeen that the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Lebanese Chargé d'Affairs to Athens.

Bou Habib added that the Greek Foreign Ministry informed the Lebanese Chargé d'Affairs that the extraction vessel in the Mediterranean is not owned by the Greek government.

The Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Beirut stated that the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs was informed of the presence of Greek sailors on board the ship that "Tel Aviv" brought to the Karish field.

Our correspondent pointed out that "the Lebanese Foreign Ministry was informed that the ship was owned by a private company, and the government had nothing to do with it, despite the presence of Greek sailors on it."

Part of the Karish field is located within borderline No. 29, which the Lebanese negotiators consider the Lebanese border. Therefore, the excavations carried out by this company, on the recommendation of "Israel", are illegal.

Yesterday, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said during a televised speech that what happened over the course of the past few days signals that Lebanon is entering a new stage.

"With the maritime borders and the vast riches in the [Mediterranean] sea, Lebanon today is before an issue that must become a major national cause," Sayyed Nasrallah added.

A "neighboring treasure" is how the Hezbollah leader referenced the riches in the Mediterranean, stressing that all of the wealth lying within and beneath the waters of the sea belongs to all of the Lebanese people, and it is "the last remaining hope to rescue Lebanon from collapse."

The Karish gas field is a red line; therefore, all that is extracted from it is contested, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed.

The resistance is one of the options available to the Lebanese state and the Lebanese people in this confrontation for wealth, Sayyed Nasrallah highlighted, underlining that the resistance would not stand idle as the Israeli occupation robs Lebanon of its treasures and wealth and the only hope for saving its people.
