'Operation Blue Ghost' saves four potential human trafficking victims
From May 17th to May 19th, the Wichita Police Department, in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and other law enforcement partners, participated in 'Operation Blue Ghost,' and were able to save four potential human trafficking victims.
'Operation Blue Ghost' is an anti-child sexual child exploitation operation. Other operations took place in the Kansas City area until June 2nd. In the three days of operations in Wichita, two people were arrested for aggravated human trafficking, one for human trafficking, one for promoting the sale of sex and 13 for buying sex.
WPD officers and detectives worked not only with HSI, but also with adult victim advocates from ICT SOS, a group dedicated to ending human trafficking and combatting underaged victimization.
In addition to the arrests, four potential victims of human trafficking were able to be connected with social services, and three firearms and two vehicles were seized.
