The omnipresent WWW or The Web was created around 1990 by Englishman Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Belgian Robert Cailliau, working at the European Nuclear Research Center (CERN), in Geneva, Switzerland. The World Wide Web is a system of interlinked, hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. Robert Cailliau, seen here at CERN along with the original computer terminal (NEXT) on which the WWW was born. The original proposal, and the book are also on display at the CERN museum.
