Kim Jong Un commits to ‘complete denuclearisation of Korean Peninsula’ in joint text: Reports

 

Key points of the document signed by Kim and Donald Trump at the end of Tuesday's talks:

 

1. US and North Korea commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.

 

2. The two countries will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

 

3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, North Korea commits to work towards the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

 

4. US and North Korea commit to recovering remains of prisoners of war including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un set to leave Singapore on Tuesday night

 

Mr Kim is set to leave between 9pm and midnight. Two Air China Boeing 747 jets - including the one that flew Mr Kim to Singapore for his meeting with Mr Trump - were on their way to Changi Airport on Tuesday afternoon. http://str.sg/oYKo

US and North Korea committed to work intensively: US ambassador to Philippines Sung Kim

 

Mr Kim, who attended the working lunch earlier with Donald Trump, told reporters at Capella ahead of Mr Trump's media conference: "I think it's a very good statement… I think there's a lot of work left. The two sides are committed to work intensively."

Storm Injures 18 People

 

A strong storm hit Tehran Monday night, injuring 18 people and breaking branches of trees and electricity cables in the capital city.

 

Tehran Emergency Services reported early Tuesday that strong winds blowing at a speed of 83 kilometers per hour injured 18 people across the Tehran Province Monday night of whom five were transported to hospital and the rest were treated as outpatients and released, IRNA reported.

 

They were injured as a result of fallen trees and power pylons or breaking of construction scaffolding and decorative stones of building facades.

 

The storm coupled with heavy rainfall, thunder and lightening engulfed most parts of the capital city particularly southern, central and eastern districts.

 

There is no official report on the exact amount of losses as a result of the storm.

 

Meanwhile, lightning struck and set fire to a vast parts of agricultural lands under wheat and barley cultivation in Varamin, southeast of Tehran Monday.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen lauds SAF for professionalism during Trump-Kim summit

 

"Singapore has played a small but important role for peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula, and indeed that of Asia," wrote Dr Ng in a Facebook post.

 

"For the SAF, this was a joint mission, requiring command and control of air, land and sea assets. It was “no duff” because the threats were real – not made easier when the time and place of the summit was broadcast to the world.

 

"It should be known to Singaporeans that our SAF troops and platforms were loaded with live ammunition, ready to take out any external threats."

 

The historic Singapore Summit has ended. It will be a long road ahead from armistice to peace treaty but at least amity…
