I don't think the Korean Summit would have occurred without Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State, as I don't think Rex Tillerson was too keen on the idea to begin with. If the negotiations had been ongoing for 3 months, then clearly the talks were underway before Pompeo became Secretary of State. I wonder what Pompeo was able to accomplish as head of the CIA? The role of the CIA apparently has been diminished a bit from the rogue agency it was, but Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has emerged on the scene in quite a more important role with an impressive hand in bringing President Trump and Chairman Kim to a signed agreement. Pre-staged in the Forbidden city is one thing, but on the International stage for all the world to see is a blessing for everyone. My God, the way the press hounded the President at the Presser was disturbing, they peed in their own punchbowl to their own demise. Particularly noticeable was the question from a woman who asked the President why he was praising Kim when he had previously called him a murdering thug, to which President Trump responded that Chairman Kim took over a nation at the young age of 26 and managed to keep the country together, throwing in that very few at any age could have accomplished such a feat.
Not sure how Iran is going to proceed, but there is no denying the effectiveness of President Trump not only on domestic policy issues, but also on foreign policy matters with a major victory in Singapore. For the first time in God knows how long, I actually think peace rather than conflict will prevail.
