SpouseAnon and I adopted my brother's three children. They were taken by the State and initially placed in Foster Care. The original family seemed nice enough, but, a bit, "off." And they seemed very upset that we had stepped in to take custody (why would Family custody upset anyone?) Anyway, the court case dragged on over a year. We eventually got foster licensed so we could receive some benefits until the adoption (in not above taking advantage of the system, KEK). At the adoption, the Judge (whom I believe to be a decent person), was ADAMANT that she was very happy the children ended up with family. She made it a loud and clear point that she wished more families would step up to the plate for foster children. It wasn't until I began to see stats on child trafficking that I understand why the Judge was so adamant. I think they know the statistics. But the system is broke as fuck. So, Anons, because I feel most of you are good-hearted, please consider fostering children. SpouseAnon and I have discussed it, but now that we are raising three extras, it would be waaaaay to difficult, especially if the foster child had special/extra needs or had serious issues from abuse (like we are currently dealing with, with our three little ones. Also, I recommend only one child at a time. Just hep them start their life. You don't need to be the parents they never had. Just someone that cares about their well-being and their future.
