Never heard of SSBMs carrying SAMs. Can they be rigged to fire Patriot Missiles? Arent they usually just loaded with Tomahawks and Tridents etc.

China would understand the results of such an action would affect relations with US for centuries. Even if it failed. Deep State on the other hand is desperate for any kind of 'success'.
