I've always thought that a number of The Bill of Rights had their roots started in the French & Indian War, which was really a continuation of The Hundred Years War, by proxy. I can tie the 1st, 2nd, 4th and the 10th directly to one British Military habit of the period, now resurrected in Russia and Ukraine ironically, the Press Gang.

Not only would the Press Gang "Impress" any person they deemed of military use, but that would include ANY provisions found on site. Foodstuffs, gunpowder, munitions, were all subject to Uncompensated seizure for the benefit of the military. If you had sixty years of THAT going on in your "country", you'd want to address that in plain language, right up front.

One British commander threw a "tradition" that Bostonians would not be impressed in 1747. It started quite a chain reaction that none forgot. Just note the colonist players involved.
