Texas - WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER FIRING SHOTS INSIDE HCA CONROE HOSPITAL ER

 

On June 14, 2022, at about 1147 hours, Conroe Police Officers were dispatched to HCA Conroe Hospital Emergency Room (504 Medical Center Drive) in regard to an active shooter. Officers arrived at about 1150 hours they found the scene to be secure.

Harris County Emergency Corp EMS had transported a black/female patient (identified as 65-year-old Glendar Jackson) to HCA Conroe from Harris County for mental health evaluation and Emergency Detention Order per the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. They arrived at the emergency room at 1142 hours and positioned Jackson on a gurney in the hallway with her arms and legs secured to the gurney to limit movement. As they awaited triage, Jackson retrieved a small caliber firearm from an elastic waistband type holster, that was wrapped around her torso under her dress, firing two rounds. One of the HCEC EMS attendants took immediate action and disarmed Jackson. No one was injured as a result of this incident.

After receiving medical clearance, Jackson was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for charges of Deadly Conduct Felony 3 and Unlawful Carrying Weapon / Places Weapons Prohibited Class A Misdemeanor.

Chief Christy commends the HCEC EMT that took quick, decisive, and heroic action in disarming Jackson as she discharged the gun. His actions likely saved innocent lives.

Conroe Mayor Jody Czajkoski wanted to recognize the Conroe Police Department’s rapid and overwhelming response to the reported active shooter situation. He is thankful that the situation was resolved without casualties.
