Hate to say this, but we need to start from Q's early days and build a scrolling timeline similar to what you see in picture 1 - except with actual links, more articles, etc.
I'm not super into the clock thing until we actually figure it out and more than 1/3 of us can understand it, but when we do understand the "numbers", pic 2 would be great layout.
