Did you know pretty much all major religions before ours revered psychopomps? Even Gabriel is regarded as a psychopomp too, like Anubis or Hermes, but we don't pretend he's evil.
The conflating of psychopomps (Grim Reaper, in this case) and "Satan" (Hebrew for "adversary") is a very new iteration.
I've always found it fascinating that research is the main focal point of this board, but so few of you seem to spend any time studying religion outside of theological confinements and not even any adjacent areas of study like etymology.
