Was checking out this ten year old film based on a true story about human trafficking. Makes total sense in 2022, but seemed far fetched in 2012. It gets too many details right for it to be fanfic.
Sheriff in the desert was a mid level manager running a trafficking ring in the desert, who ALSO was a consultant/guest speaker on the problem of human trafficking.
