"I stabbed myself in the hand with a knife," Joy Behar, co-host of "The View," said Tuesday, explaining why she was missing from Monday's show.
Joy Behar, co-host of “The View,” confessed Tuesday that she injured her hand while cutting an avocado and was hospitalized as a result.
“Saturday night, on my way to the event at the retreat, I stabbed myself in the hand with a knife,” Behar, who was missing from Monday’s broadcast, said on “The View” Tuesday.
“I was trying to desperately eat something, so I was trying to open up an avocado and I stuck the knife into the pit to get it out … and I stabbed myself,” she said.
Behar added that her doctor said the injury was common and has been referred to as “Avocado Hand.”
“Apparently, there is a syndrome called Avocado Hand. It’s real. And the doctor said, ‘Oh, we get this all the time.’ So anytime you’re holding the item and you try to cut it, you can get this. So what happened was I guess there must have been an infection, they put me in the hospital overnight.”
Behar said that she is “better” now after being on an “antibiotic drip.”
