Reporter: Do you consider Donald Trump to be a political rival of [Biden]?
Jean-Pierre: I'm not going to speak to that from here.
Reporter: Do you consider Donald Trump to be a political rival of [Biden]?
Jean-Pierre: I'm not going to speak to that from here.
Reporter: Is this White House weaponizing the Justice Department and the FBI against political opponents?
Jean-Pierre: [Biden] believes in the rule of law. [Biden] believes in the independence of the Department of Justice.
Reporter: That's a yes or no.
Jean-Pierre: No, it's a yes or no for you. I'm answering the question…we're not going to comment on a 'criminal investigation'.
Reporter: Do you think it's going to be popular when the eighty-seven thousand new employees hired by the IRS, go around and start auditing people to pay for the Inflation Reduction Act?
Jean-Pierre [quoting IRS Commissioner]: This will only apply to those earning over $400,000.
Reporter: So no new audits on people making under $400,000 a year?
Jean-Pierre: No. Very clear, no.
[coming from her, that means, yes. a very clear, yes]
Reporter: Do you consider Crimea a legitimate target for Ukraine, when they use US-provided weapons?
Jean-Pierre: We are supportive of Ukraine's efforts to defend it's sovereignty and territory integrity.
Reporter: Is the Crimea a legitimate target for Ukraine when they use US-provided weapons? In the past, Pentagon seemed to convince Ukraine not to use US-provided weapons to attack Russian territory.
Jean-Pierre: I don't have anything else for you on this. I'm saying we are going to continue to support Ukraine.
Jean-Pierre: [Biden] was not aware of, of, of uh, of, of the uh, what is it, the Mar-a-Lago raid? I don't even know what you guys are calling it, uh, uh, before it happened…he learned about it, really, like all of us did. I'm sure maybe someone on his team flagged it for him, but he was not aware- what I can tell you definitively, and for sure, he was not aware of this, nobody in the White House was. We were not given a heads-up, and we did not know about what happened yesterday.
[way too much nervous protest]
Reporter in White House press briefing says that since the raid on Mar-a-Lago, there has been a lot of 'chatter among extremists online', about the 'possibility of violence'; people talking about 'Civil War II'.
Walensky [monkeypox briefing]: We at CDC are very much recommending that people who get vaccinated, continue to take steps to protect themselves from infection…by avoiding close skin-to-skin contact, including intimate contact with somebody who has monkeypox, because we don't yet know how well these vaccines work.
Dr. Marks [monkeypox briefing]: We feel pretty strongly that two does are necessary, in part, because we simply don't have any evidence out, six, eight, three months later, after a single dose, to know that people will be adequately protected, and we don't want to give people a false sense of security if they resume activities they put a pause on because they erroneously think they are protected.
