Poll: 89% Say January 6 Hearings Have Not Changed Their Minds

Amy Furr9 Aug 2022

A recent poll found a large percentage of respondents said the House January 6 Committee hearings had not changed their minds about the incident at the Capitol.

“Have the recent House January 6 Committee hearings changed your mind about what happened at the Capitol that day or who is responsible, or have the hearings not changed your mind?” the Monmouth University poll, published Tuesday, asked respondents.

In August, eight percent answered, “Yes, have,” while 89 percent answered, “No, have not.”

The poll was performed via telephone from July 28 until August 1 with 808 adults in America, and the question results had a margin of error of +/- 3.5 percentage points.

In addition, American citizens leaned toward the belief the January 6 hearings were partisan in nature, and most thought they were designed to prevent former President Donald Trump from running again, according to a I&I/TIPP poll published in July.

Breitbart News reported:

The survey asked 1,643 adults nationwide if they agreed or disagreed with two statements, one of which states, “Some say that the Jan. 6 committee’s main aim is to ensure President Trump can’t run in 2024.”

Sixty percent, overall, agree that the committee’s main aim is to prevent Trump from running in the next presidential election. Further, 62 percent of Democrats, 70 percent of Republicans, and a plurality of independents — 48 percent — share that view. According to the survey, independent voters “were the only group of the more than 21 demographic categories the I&I/TIPP Poll follows that was below 50%.”

During a recent interview on Fox News Channel’s Hannity, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) slammed the January 6 committee, saying it had “exonerated” Trump.

“And this is the best that they can do, this hearing tonight, the capstone event, the prime time hearing,” Banks said. “This is the best that they can do. They haven’t proven anything. If they’ve done anything, they’ve exonerated President Donald Trump and Republicans who supported him.”

Report: FBI Agents Searched Through Melania Trump’s Wardrobe During Mar-a-Lago Raid

Jordan Dixon-Hamilton9 Aug 2022

FBI agents reportedly searched through former first lady Melania Trump’s wardrobe during Monday’s raid of Mar-a-Lago, the Trump family’s residence in Florida.

Former President Donald Trump announced the FBI raided his home in a statement issued Monday.

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar- A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”

In addition to searching through Trump’s office, FBI agents also combed through Melania Trump’s wardrobe.

As the New York Post reported:

FBI agents scoured Melania Trump’s wardrobeand spent several hours combing through Donald Trump’s private office, breaking open his safe and rifling through drawers when they raided the former First Family’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida Monday morning.

However, thesearch warrant was reportedly limitedto finding presidential records as well as evidence of classified information being stored at Mar-a-Lago, the Post reported.

The FBI raid of the 128-room, 62,500-square foot property lasted over nine hours, as agents reportedly arrived at 9:00 a.m. and did not leave until after 6:30 p.m.

The raid was conducted by more than 30 plain clothes FBI agents from a Florida and Washington field office, according to the Post.

The agents searched Trump’s locked basement storage room, where they confiscated 15 cardboard boxes of White House materials that reportedly contained Trump-era White House mementos, including letters from former President Barack Obama and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

TheFBI agents were reportedly “arrogant,” according to one eyewitness, and they told Trump representatives, “We have full access to everything. We can go everywhere.”

Additionally, the agents refused to allow Trump’s lawyers inside the property to cool off. Instead, they were left in a parking lot outside the residence.

The Trump family was not at Mar-a-Lago during the FBI raid.

Liz Cheney’s Husband’s Law Firm Advises CCP-Linked Technology Firm

Wendell Husebø9 Aug 2022

Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) husband’s law firm, Latham & Watkins, has advised a Chinese Communist Party-linked technology company named Tencent Music Entertainment or “TME.” Liz Cheney is up for reelection in Wyoming’s August 16 primary against Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman, who has been outspoken against the CCP.

While Cheney campaigns for another two years in office, her husband, Philip Perry, has connections to one of the United States’ greatest adversaries. Perry’s law firm has a close working relationship with TME, which the State Department in 2019 dubbed a tool of the Chinese government.

Christopher Ashley Ford, assistant secretary of the U.S. State Department’s bureau of international security and nonproliferation, told Quartz about the dangers of TME’s relationship with CCP. “Whether de facto or de jure, such giants can in some important respects or for some purposes act as arms of the state—or, more precisely, the Chinese Communist Party, to which the Chinese state apparatus is itself subordinate,” he said about Latham & Watkins’s client and the CCP.

According to Latham & Watkins’s press release, the firm has advised TME on acquisitions and has celebrated its client as the “market leader in interactive virtual entertainment experiences” in Communist China. TME has positioned itself as the “leading online music and audio entertainment platform in China,” Yahoo Finance reported.

TME is not just a music company, it is “a foundation of technology-facilitated surveillance and social control” for Communist China, which is built upon the “China Dream” or “China Model,” Ford further explained. Along with Chinese companies like Alibaba, Ford said, “these companies export their products and services to the rest of the world, the security and human rights problems associated with this ‘China Model’ are progressively exported with them.”

Cheney’s husband’s law firm has not only advised TME, a CCP-linked company, but has lobbied on behalf of companies with ties to the CCP…

In 2011, Exelon Corporation agreed to provide consulting and training services to an arm of the state-owned China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), according to the Wall Street Journal. The state-owned CNNC’s president and vice president are appointed by the highest administrative position in the Government of China, the Premier of the People’s Republic of China. The CNNC supervises all facets of China’s nuclear programs.

“Exelon Corp. will provide consulting and training services to an arm of state-owned China National Nuclear Corp., in a signal that China’s secretive state-owned nuclear companies are determined to learn Western safety practices and other expertise in the aftermath of Japan’s nuclear incident in March,” the Journal reported in 2011. “As part of the deal disclosed on Friday, instructors from Chicago-based Exelon will be stationed at Qinshan Nuclear Power Station in China’s eastern Zhejiang province.”…

Liz Cheney’s opponent, Hageman, has slammed Cheney and her husband for his connections to the CCP-liked companies. Hageman believes the Perry family is “personally” and “financially benefiting from working for China,” Hageman told Just the News.

“He has a choice, he can either work with his firm and take the stand that his wife is apparently advocating publicly, and say, ‘We’re not going to represent countries or companies that, number one have problems with human rights abuses, and number two, who are really kind of in a soft war with the United States.’ Or you can go to another law firm,” Hageman added. “Have some integrity.”…

Cheney’s alliance with Democrats also extends to the partisan January 6 Committee, which has sought to investigate the January 6 incident without focusing on the alleged FBI informants at the Capitol. Cheney is one of ten Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump. If she loses the August 16 primary, only two pro-impeachment Republicans will remain in office.

Cheney’s alliance with Democrats and fixation on Trump caused the Wyoming Republican Party in 2021 to excommunicate their representative from the state in which she is no longer recognized as a Republican. Since then, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and former Wyoming Rep. Barbara Cubin have all endorsed Hageman.

According to PredictIt odds,Cheney has only a four-cent chance on the dollar of winning. Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman is favored by 97 cents on the dollar.

The Morning Briefing: Dear Dems—Trump 2024 Is Gonna Be Super LIT

BY STEPHEN KRUISER AUG 10, 2022 4

There certainly has been a lot to parse since Garland’s Folly was unleashed on Mar-a-Lago on Monday night. As Robert writes, this is an unprecedented level of acrimony between American political rivals who, in theory, are all serving the same country.

Mitch coined the term “Mar-a-Lagogate,” and notes that this should be a crippling scandal for Team Biden.

In a perfect world, anyway.

Matt points out how this will backfire on the Democrats and I’m going to add to that.

All of this is being driven by the Democrats’ obsession with using the J6 fauxsurrection to keep Trump off of the ballot in 2024. They know that they could resurrect FDR and Trump is still going to waltz back into the White House. He’s the monster under all of their beds. As I’ve written before, he’s not only living rent-free in their heads, he’s building condos and inviting his friends.

Had they not been working out daddy issues since Jan. 20, 2021, there is a chance that Trump might have opted to enjoy more golf and play Republican kingmaker. Let us not forget that he enjoys sticking it to establishment “Harumph!” Republicans as much as he does to Democrats.

All that these idiot Democrats have done with their extended fascist tantrum is guarantee that Trump wants to come back and give them a righteous butt-whupping. Every single thing that they do to weaken him makes him stronger, constantly renewing his energy to build more of those condos.

It’s cloudy now but that’s one heck of a silver lining

These Are the Republicans Who Voted to Confirm Merrick Garland

Spencer Brown

As Bill Shakespeare once wrote, "the past is prologue." This week, as the FBI raided Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago retreat, it's worth looking at the past and how the DOJ got to this place under the leadership of Merrick Garland, Obama's failed Supreme Court nominee-turned Biden's Attorney General.

Even before President Joe Biden took office, he announced his intention to nominate Garland to be his Attorney General. The Senate Judiciary Committee, in charge of evaluating such presidential nominees, then conducted its confirmation hearings for Garland in February 2021. At the conclusion of those hearings, Garland received a favorable recommendation from the committee, thanks to support for Republicans.

In addition to all the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senators Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John Cornyn of Texas, and Thom Tillis of North Carolina supported Garland's nomination.

Then, on March 10, 2021, when Garland's nomination came before the full Senate for a vote, he was confirmed in a 70-30 vote. Again, in addition to every Democrat senator, a number of Republicans voted to make Merrick Garland the Attorney General of the United States.

The 20 GOP senators joining Democrats to confirm Garland were:

Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capitol of West Virginia, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, John Cornyn of Texas, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Chuck Grassley of Iowa, Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, James Lankford of Oklahoma, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Jerry Moran of Kansas, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah, Mike Rounds of South Dakota, John Thune of South Dakota, and Thom Tillis of North Carolina.

Where are these Republicans now that the FBI has raided Mar-A-Lago on Garland's watch? Seemingly missing in action and conspicuously quiet about the search of Trump's "Southern White House."

In the wake of the DOJ's escalating offensive against Donald Trump, a question is begged: Do these Republicans who supported Garland's nomination and voted to make him Biden's attorney general still support him and what his department is doing?

It's hardly worth pestering their offices for questions. That's because last October, as the Garland DOJ was busting norms and politicizing his department to go after any number of Republicans and conservative causes our friend Amber Athey asked that same question. In a piece for The Spectator on her quest to find out whether those 20 Republicans had confirmer's remorse, she revealed that not a single Senator agreed to comment.

Showing an example of what Republicans ought to be doing in the wake of the FBI's unprecedented raid on a political opponent of the current administration is Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO), who quickly called for Garland's resignation or impeachment — plus more information from the DOJ and FBI about the search that was conducted on Monday.

Daring Ukrainian special forces raid is revealed as cause of Russian airbase explosion

By David Averre and Tom Pyman For Mailonline 02:41 EDT 10 Aug 2022 , updated 08:46 EDT 10 Aug 2022

Ukraine's special forces were responsible for a series of deadly explosions which destroyed parts of a crucial Russian airbase in Crimea yesterday, killing one and injuring 14 according to a Ukrainian government official.

Up to ten Russian aircraft were destroyed in the attack, the Ukrainian air force said, which an anonymous official told the Washington Post had been carried out by special forces – despite claims yesterday that long-range missiles could have been used.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky meanwhile vowed to 'liberate' the peninsula previously part of Ukraine but annexed by Russia in 2014 despite international condemnation.

Zelensky did not directly mention yesterday's explosions, the cause of which has not yet been officially confirmed, but spoke with conviction as he declared: 'Crimea is Ukrainian, and we will never give it up… The Russian war against Ukraine and the whole of free Europe must end with Crimea and its liberation.'

The President's comments come as hordes of Russians seemingly began to fleeing the Crimea in the wake of the explosions which left one dead and 14 injured according to the latest reports.

The blasts rang out around 3:30pm local time yesterday afternoon at the Russian-held Novofedorivka military airbase in Western Crimea, which is located within sight of a popular beach.

Videos circulating yesterday on the Telegram messaging app showed dozens of shocked beachgoers watching trails of smoke snaking from the base before hastily evacuating the shore.

Other clips showed the charred remains of a Russian fighter jet and the smouldering wreckage of several cars on torn up tarmac destroyed in the devastating blasts.

WH Econ Adviser Bernstein: We’re Not Guaranteeing No Audits for People Making Under $400,000, But I Don’t Think There Will Be Increase

Ian Hanchett10 Aug 2022

2:53

On Monday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” White House Council of Economic Advisers member Jared Bernstein said that he doesn’t expect increased audits on the middle class due to increased IRS Funding in the Inflation Reduction Act reconciliation bill and vowed the newly-expanded IRS won’t be going after anyone making under $400,000 but said they aren’t guaranteeing nobody who makes under $400,000 will be audited.

Co-host Brian Sullivan asked, “How much of this is going to be just IRS tax collection? They want to double the size of the IRS. I understand the industry has been shrunk, gutted, in some people’s words. And do you expect increased audits on the middle class?”

Bernstein responded, “Certainly not on the middle class. Remember, one of the lines in the sand, for all his flexibility…President Biden has always maintained that no one under 400,000 will pay one penny more in taxes. So, line in the sand there. Look, in terms of closing the tax gap, that’s what you’re talking about here, something like 80 billion for the IRS, this raises something like 200 billion over ten years and some people call that a conservative estimate. And remember, this is enforcing taxes owed, so this is a way to, not just close tax loopholes, but to stave off tax evasion. In my strongly-held view, defunding the IRS has been a long-term shadow tax cut for tax evaders, and this president will reverse that with this bill that now goes over to the House.”

Sullivan then said, “And much of those are going to be small businesses, Jared, that — people that use S Corps.”

Bernstein responded, “Yeah, well, remember, 400,000 in the sand. Just like people — I’ve heard people talk small business on the minimum corporate tax –.”

Sullivan then cut in to ask, “I want to be clear, is the president guaranteeing nobody making under 400,000 will get audited?”

Bernstein answered, “No, no, no. That’s not what I said. Nobody under $400,000 will pay higher taxes under the Inflation Reduction Act. Let’s be very clear about that.”

After Bernstein started talking about the corporate minimum tax, Sullivan asked, “If you’re doubling the size of the IRS, then who are they going to go after?”

Bernstein responded, “Nobody under 400k, whether you’re a small business or an individual pays a penny more in taxes.”

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre promised that there won’t be any new audits on anyone making less than $400,000.

White House Urges Donald Trump Supporters to ‘Remain Peaceful’ After FBI Raid

Charlie Spiering10 Aug 2022

WTF? They are goading people!

The White House urged Americans to remain peaceful after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s home on Monday.

“We would ask Americans to remain peaceful in this time,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during the daily briefing when asked about angry Trump supporters.

Establishment media reports have raised fears about enraged Trump supporters declaring “war” on the “deep state” after the raid on the former president’s home, raising the alarm that they are preparing for political violence or even a second civil war.

But the White House made it clear President Joe Biden sternly opposed any violence.

“There is no place for political violence in this country,” Jean-Pierre said. “People have the right to raise their voices peacefully, but we would strongly condemn, as we have many times from here, the president has condemned, any efforts to plan violent behavior of any kind.”

A crowd of Trump supporters reacted to the FBI raid by rallying in front of the former president’s home in Florida to show their support.

Jean-Pierre refused to address details of the FBI raid, insisting that President Biden had no prior knowledge of the incident and learned about it through the news media.

She also ignored questions about Biden’s federal law enforcement invading the home of a potential rival in the 2024 election, appearing to be a politically motivated prosecution.

“It would not be appropriate for us to comment on any ongoing investigations,” she said.

The Department of Justice and the FBI have not released any statements about the raid or revealed why they felt it necessary to execute a search warrant on the former president’s home.

FBI agents reportedly spent nine hours searching through Trump’s home, breaking open a safe in his private office and even former searching through First Lady Melania Trump’s wardrobe.
