What does exist (probably) is the cell making these things, probable reaction to poisoning or to damage, which would make it at best a symptom.
And why anti-parasitic medicine works, is that maybe it's parasites, or something else.
One is for sure: modern "medicine" claims that it's viruses and bacteria, and almost never parasites, and poisoning also never happens.
And I'm pretty sure proper food plays a very large role too, which they also partly deny, of course.
