Boatfag here. I just got back home from sea.
On June 7th, I took photos of my Navigation Display in the lower Chesapeake Bay. There were 26 ships anchored, some outside of anchorage. That amount of ships backed up is unusual.
I called a pilot and asked him what was up, and he said they were all bulk cargo ships waiting to be filled with coal in Norfolk and Newport News. That amount of ships at anchor and backed up is unusual.
Don’t know if that means anything but since it was unusual, I pass it along.
