I think it's called having ADHD. Being hyper focused.

People with ADHD get hyper focused onto something that they are interested in and block everything else out. So they are startled when their thought process is interrupted.

Versed is an evil drug that should be outlawed.

It causes anterograde amnesia. So basically after it is administered to someone, they are still awake and can feel everything (it has no pain killing properties) but the person will have no memories of it. A person can move and talk while under the influence of Versed, but will have no memories. What could possibly go wrong?

They came out with it in the 1980s and started using it in pediatric units at hospitals. Supposedly to lessen the children's anxiety. Med. personnel can do whatever they want to the kid and the kid won't have any memories of it. What kind of a sick bastard came up with this idea?
