Admit you're wrong / repent.
I'm not sure why but when I was ~23 I came across this quote: "If it stinks like shit everywhere you go, it's best to check underneath your own shoe first". Had a serious epiphany reading that. My life was miserable, Godless, and selfish around that time. Realizing it might be ME that's the problem, I went down the deep abyss of introspection and meditated that grueling years of work were ahead of me that was needed to fix my current predicament. It hit me like a truck, all at once. Long-story short I'm now a healthfag, Christfag, and ALL-THE-THINGS self-improvement.
