Latvian Businessman Who Sold House to Ivanka and Jared Found Dead Outside DC Apartment – Widow Denies Suicide

A Latvian businessman who sold Ivanka and Jared a house was found dead outside of his DC apartment.

Dan Rapoport, 52, was found dead on August 14, the Daily Mail reported.

Initial reports claimed he ‘jumped to his death,’ however his widow denies Rapoport committed suicide.

Rapoport sent a friend an urgent message on Facebook complaining that he was being scammed by a Russian VC firm.

“I need a small favor. I just posted on FB about a Russian VC firm trying to screw me for $10k.” he said in a Facebook post, according to the Daily Mail.

“I would really appreciate if you could like and/or comment on it. I don’t expect to get paid, but I want to maximize their public embarrassment.” he said in April.

The Daily Mail reported:

The anti-Putin, Latvian-American businessman found dead in Washington DC this week was discovered in the street outside the apartment building where he lived after falling to his death, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Dan Rapoport, 52, was found outside 2400 Main Street apartments on August 14th shortly before 6pm.

His body was discovered in the street along with his cracked cellphone, $2,620 cash, a keyring with a lanyard and a cracked white headphone.

Russian media reported that he was found dead from an apparent suicide after setting his dog free in a nearby park.

DC Metropolitan police also told DailyMail.com on Wednesday that they do not suspect foul play.

But his widow Alena denied that he took his own life, insisting to Russian newswire: ‘There were no notes, no suicide.’

Three days before his death, Rapoport posted a haunting image on Facebook of Marilyn Brando as Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now with the words: ‘The horror, the horror.’

In the months before his death, Rapoport had been complaining to friends that he was being ripped off by a Russian investment firm.

NATO ready to intervene in Kosovo – Stoltenberg

The secretary general pledged the bloc’s support in the event that “stability” in the province is jeopardized

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has reiterated his promise that the bloc will intervene if “stability” is jeopardized in Kosovo during a press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday.

”Should stability be jeopardized, KFOR stands ready to intervene and will take any measures that are necessary to ensure a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all the people of Kosovo,” he said.

The leader of the military alliance called on “all sides” to “show restraint and avoid violence,” arguing that diplomacy was the only way forward, even while threatening military intervention under the UN mandate if the two parties did not abide by the EU-mediated dialogue.

Stoltenberg is set to hold a meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti later on Wednesday, while Vucic and Kurti will meet on Thursday in Brussels to continue the dialogue.

Turkey Strikes Northern Syria, Killing At Least 17, As Cross-Border Offensive Looms

Tuesday into Wednesday has witnessed heavy fighting between Kurdish YPG and Turkish forces along the Syrian border town of Kobane, at a moment Turkish President Erdogan's planned large scale cross-border offensive looms. Already there are Turkish media reports claiming that a Turkish military convoy has entered Jarablus, northern Syria - with unverified social media photos circulating that purport to show convoys amassing.

Turkish shelling of Syrian Kurdish positions has reportedly killed and wounded civilians including a 14-year old child. And a series of airstrikes have hit Syrian government border posts, killing 17. However, it's unclear how many among these were Syrian national troops, Kurdish militia fighters, or pro-government militia members who fight alongside the army.

"Seventeen fighters were killed in Turkish air strikes that hit several Syrian regime outposts… near the Turkish border," one pro-opposition war monitor told Middle East Eye. Turkish military officials have said they've killed five Kurdish militants in the fresh assault.

Turkey's defense ministry said one of its soldiers was killed in a Kurdish counter-strike with artillery. A statement said that on the Syrian side of the border "Thirteen terrorists were neutralized" in "retaliation".

A Syrian government statement said meanwhile that "Any attack on a military outpost run by our armed forces will be met with a direct and immediate response on all fronts," according to state-run SANA.

So far throughout the war in Syria, Turkey has conducted three major cross border operations going back to 2016, in efforts to prevent any level of Kurdish autonomy from forming, as part of what it deems border stabilization efforts. At the same time it has long supported jihadist groups which seek to ethnically cleanse Kurds, while at the same time trying to topple the Syrian government under Bashar al-Assad.

Over the period, Turkey has seized hundreds of kilometers of Syrian sovereign territory and has effectively pushed the de facto border demarcating control some 30km deep into Syria. The United States, which has limited forces on the ground (most estimates are between 1,000 to 2,000 special forces soldiers), has tended to stay out of Turkey's way, despite Kurds making up the bulk of the US-backed and trained Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Interestingly, all of this comes as over the past week there have been substantial rumors of official contacts and talks between the Syrian and Turkish foreign ministries. For example, last week Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu for the first time publicly urged reconciliation between the Syrian government and the so-called "rebel" groups, even though Turkey has long used the very same jihadist groups as proxies to wage war on the Syrian state.

His comments were seen as an apparent easing of Ankara’s longstanding hostility towards al-Assad’s government and enraged the Syrian opposition and rebel groups. But this latest Turkish attack on Syrian border posts strongly signals continued hostility and friction between Ankara and Damascus for the immediate future.

Israel and Turkey announce normalization of ties

The Israeli prime minister’s office says the two nations will restore full diplomatic relations, which were downgraded in 2018

Israel and Turkey will soon reappoint ambassadors to each other’s countries and restore full diplomatic ties, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said on Wednesday.

Relations between the two nations were downgraded back in 2018 after Israeli forces killed some 60 Palestinians during protests on the Gaza border. Ankara at the time condemned the heavy-handed treatment of demonstrators by Israel.

A statement released by the premier’s office, following talks between Lapid and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said: “it was decided to once again upgrade the level of the relations between the two countries to that of full diplomatic ties and to return ambassadors and consuls general.”

The normalization would, among other things, help “strengthen regional stability,” it added.

Prime Minister Lapid was also quoted as describing the move as “important economic news for the citizens of Israel.”

With the normalization of relations having been in the pipeline for some time, President Erdogan earlier noted that restoring ties with Israel would allow Ankara to “help our Palestinian brothers.”

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the press in Ankara that his ministry was already looking for the right candidate to become the country’s ambassador to Israel.

Following a visit to Turkey by Israeli President Isaac Herzog in March and subsequent visits by foreign ministers, Israel announced the reopening of its trade office in Istanbul. The two countries have also signed an aviation agreement, which allows Israeli airlines to fly to Turkey.

In recent years, Israel has been making concerted efforts to normalize its traditionally strained relations with some Muslim nations. 2020 saw the signing of the so-called Abraham Accords between the Jewish state on one side and the United Arab Emirates on the other. Similar accords between Israel, Bahrain and Morocco followed soon thereafter. That same year, Turkey also began its attempts to normalize relations with other regional powers, such as Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

Congressman: "Tyranny" Is Coming "Right Into Everyone's Living Room Very Very Shortly"

“This is about intimidating anyone who refuses to bend the knee to the narrative”

GOP Pennsylvania Representative Scott Perry warned Sunday that everyday Americans should now plan for “tyranny” to enter their homes in the form of federal agents if they refuse to play nice with the authorities.

Perry, the House Freedom Caucus chair, revealed how the FBI recently seized his phone, just hours after the feds raided President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago complex.

“A day after the raid on the president’s home FBI agents showed up when I was traveling with my family, my wife and our two small children, my in-laws, extended family,” Perry stated in an appearance on Fox News.

The Congressman related how the feds “showed up and demanded my cell phone they said they were going to image it they were not going to search it and and then they eventually did return it.”

Perry, who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, further declared to “have always supported law enforcement. I always have, we have revered the FBI, but this is an abuse of power.”

“There’s been no accountability,” Perry continued, explaining that “James Comey, the director of the FBI used classified information improperly to get a second special counsel, no, no, no accountability for that.”

“Whether it’s John Eastman, whether it’s Scott Perry, whether it’s President Trump, and with passing a bill that will pay for hiring of 87,000 IRS agents, tyranny is going to come right into everyone’s living room very, very shortly,” Perry proclaimed.

While the 87,000 figure is disputed, the Senate last week approved nearly $80 billion in IRS funding, with $45.6 billion for “enforcement”.

“This is about intimidating anyone who refuses to bend the knee to the narrative,” the Congressman further warned.

“This is an abuse of power,” Perry claimed, “and of course they’re using these taxes tactics to intimidate people to coerce people.”

Referring to Hillary Clinton, Perry said “People that BleachBit their their phones and hit him with hammers, smash them with hammers and those types of things have something to hide. People that keep the same phone a year and a half after the election aren’t worried about what’s on their phone, and so that’s me, but apparently they want to destroy me politically.”

“Anybody that doesn’t bend the knee, that isn’t intimidated, that isn’t parroting the narrative is now subject to these kind of third world Banana Republic tactics politically,” Perry stressed.

Elsewhere during the interview, Perry told viewers that “It should be pretty apparent to anybody that’s been alive for the past 5 years that the Biden family is completely compromised by the Communist Party of China.”

Israel Admits to Killing Five Children at Cemetery in Gaza

Israel officials initially claimed the deaths could have been caused by misfired rockets from Islamic Jihad

Israeli military officials have admitted that an Israeli airstrike was responsible for killing five Palestinean children at a cemetery in Gaza during Israel’s recent three-day bombing campaign against the besieged enclave.

The Israeli airstrike hit the Al-Faluja Cemetery next to the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on August 7. After the incident, Israeli officials claimed the children could have been killed by a misfired rocket launched by the Palestinian group Islamic Jihad.

But Israeli military officials told Haaretz that an Israeli Army inquiry into the incident found that Israel was to blame. The victims’ ages ranged from four to 17 and most were from the same family. They were killed as they sat next to their grandfather’s grave in the cemetery.

Another Israeli air raid targeted a group of children who were in Fallujah cemetery in northern Gaza.

All five – most from same family- were killed, bodies tattered.

According to Al Jazeera, the victims were Jamil Najm al-Deen Naijm, age 4, Jamil Ihab Najim, 13, Mohammad Nijm, 17, Hamed Nijm, 17, and Nazmi Abu Karsh, 15.

The three-day Israeli bombing campaign killed 49 Palestinians, including 17 children. The bombardment started on August 5 when the initial Israeli strike killed an Islamic Jihad leader, a five-year-old girl, and several other Palestinians.

Israel still claims that some of the dead were killed by errant Islamic Jihad rockets, but that account has been disputed by Palestinians. The Israeli military officials speaking to Haaretz claimed that a similar incident in the Jabalya refugee camp that killed eight civilians, including children, was caused by an errant rocket.

After Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza, President Biden and other US officials expressed strong support for Israel’s bombing campaign. Biden said he was “proud” of US support for Israel, and the US ambassador to Israel said the US was “fully supportive” of the country’s actions in Gaza.

Syrian Intelligence Eliminated Another Prominent Leader Of ISIS In Daraa

The Syrian intelligence has eliminated another prominent leader of ISIS who worked inthe southern governorate of Daraa.

On August 15, a security source told the Syrian Arab News Agency that the terrorist group’s top military leader in the southern region Mahmoud Ahmad Al-Hallaq, who is known by his nome de guerra “Abu Omar Al-Jababi,” was killed in a special operation that took place in the town of Tafas in the western Daraa countryside.

“The terrorist Abu Omar al-Jababi was the former leader of the military wing of ISIS in the Yarmouk Basin and in charge of training camps, and he worked with the murdered terrorist Abu Salem al-Iraqi and the terrorist Abd al-Rahman al-Iraqi, in coordination with the intelligence services of an Arab country,” the unnamed source told the state-run agency.

Al-Jababi was an officer in the Syrian Arab Army who defected early on in the war. He first joined the Free Syrian Army 24th Infantry Brigade before defecting again to join ISIS affiliate Jaysh Khalid Ibn al-Walid in the Yarmouk Basin.

The terrorist left the FSA right after returning from a trip to Jordan, where he met with officials from the US-led Military Operations Center. Back then, several Syrian opposition activists said that he began working for the Jordanian intelligence.

After the 2018 reconciliation deal in Daraa, al-Jababi began his covert work with ISIS. The terrorist was behind a series of terrorist attacks and assassinations, many of which targeted former rebels and civilians.

Al-Jababi was the top military aid of ISIS general leader in southern Syria Abu Salem al-Iraqi, who was killed during a special operation by the Syrian intelligence that took place in the town of Adawan in the western Daraa countryside on August 9.

Both terrorists were taking shelter in Tafas, where the Syrian Arab Army is currently conducting search operations under a recent agreement with the locals.

The elimination of al-Jababi and al-Iraqi was without a doubt a large blow to ISIS. However, it will not likely affect the terrorist group’s day-to-day operations in Daraa and other parts of Syria’s southern region.

Gab User Arrested For Alleged 'Threats' Against The FBI

A Gab user from Pennsylvania was arrested last week for allegedly making generalized threats against the FBI.

From the DOJ:

Man Arrested for Making Threats of Violence Against FBI

A Pennsylvania man has been arrested on charges of making threats of violence against FBI personnel.

Adam Bies, 46, of Mercer, was arrested late Friday in Mercer. He made his initial appearance in federal court today in Pittsburgh and remains in custody pending a detention hearing.

According to court documents, on or around August 11, the FBI National Threat Operations Section Social Media Exploitation team received a tip from MEMRI Domestic Terrorism Threat Monitor regarding Gab user "BlankFocus," later identified as Bies, who allegedly posted violent threats towards the FBI and law enforcement stating: "My only goal is to kill more of them before I drop" and "If You Work For The FBI Then You Deserve To Die".

According to court documents, on August 10, Bies allegedly wrote: "Every single piece of [expletive] who works for the FBI in any capacity, from the director down to the janitor who cleans their [expletive] toilets deserves to die. You've declared war on us and now it's open season on YOU."

In another post on August 10, Bies allegedly wrote: "HEY FEDS. We the people cannot WAIT to water the trees of liberty with your blood. I'll be waiting for you to kick down my door."

Bies is charged with influencing, impeding or retaliating against federal law enforcement officers. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Cindy K. Chung of the Western District of Pennsylvania, and Special Agent in Charge Mike Nordwall of the FBI's Pittsburgh Field Office made the announcement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bengel is prosecuting the case.

The FBI's Pittsburgh Field Office, North Country Violent Offender Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General are investigating the case.

A criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

"A few days before his arrest, the feds say Bies taunted Gab CEO Andrew Torba, tagging him in a post reading, 'It's perfectly OK for the government to constantly tell you that they intend to murder you, but when we decide we've had enough and tell them we are going to slaughter THEM, you get banned from Gab. @a [Andrew Torba] go ahead and ban me you fucking asshole,' adding, '@a just gave me an account warning today for saying that a bunch of child molesting f**gots at the FBI should be put down,'" the Daily Beast reported.
