The true bullshit when it comes to student loans was the change to the bankruptcy laws that no longer allowed them to be discharged.

That's what needs to be put back to the way it was to truly solve the current problems in that area.

The point of my OP wasn't really the pros/cons of student loan forgiveness.

It's the absurdity of yuge debates in the public square about those billions while the billions being constantly given to Ukraine are treated like ho hum no biggie.

I hear ya - wasn't mainly directed at anons.

It's the society at large that has a cow about some billions being spent, but doesn't have much to say about other billions.

What's the difference in terms of the negative inflationary type consequences between either type?

And, when some Americans are ackshyually benefiting from the billions getting bitched about but not benefiting from the other billions everyone is mum aboutโ€ฆ

Yeah, I guess I kinda get pissed off when I see it.

The moral hazard argument.

And he's right.

Change the law back to the way it was.

Let people discharge their student loans via bankruptcy.

That way those that really need relief get it.

And those that lent money to poor scholars or for useless degrees get punished as well.

When a few people get burned by a scam it's their problem.

When a yuge chunk of society gets burned by a scam it's everyone's problem.

That's the situation in This Current Year when it comes to the student loan debacle.
