Mark Zuckerberg's revelation Facebook suppressed Hunter Biden laptop stories sparks backlash

Jack Newman, James Gordon 05:32 EDT 26 Aug 2022,

Mark Zuckerberg has sparked outrage with his bombshell revelation that deliberately used an algorithm to suppress stories about 's laptop in 2020 before the November election after an intervention by the .

Republican politicians and voters have accused the FBI and Facebook of censorship, adding further questions about whether Americans should have been aware of the laptop before going to the polls and the impartiality of the bureau head Chris Wray, who ordered the raid on Mar-a-Lago this month.

The GOP have torn into the quashing of the story and have vowed to investigate Zuckerberg, the FBI and Hunter if they retake the majority in the House in the midterms.

Republican Representative Andrew Clyde of Georgia said: 'This isn't just insane, it's election interference. The Oversight Committee must immediately invite Mark Zuckerberg to testify—under oath—about the FBI’s attempts to circumvent the First Amendment. The American people deserve answers and accountability.'

The huge cache of files, emails and photos was seen by many as a smoking gun that could have turned the tide in the election, but social media bosses at Facebook and Twitter minimized the story for unfounded fears it could be Russian misinformation.

The huge cache of files, emails and photos was seen by many as a smoking gun that could have turned the tide in the election, but social media bosses at Facebook and Twitter minimized the story for unfounded fears it could be Russian misinformation.

GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy added: 'The FBI colluded with Big Tech to silence news stories weeks before the 2020 election in an attempt to control your access to information.

'Democrats in Congress have been intentionally ignoring the facts. When Republicans are back in charge, we will hold all of them accountable.'

Ted Cruz called it 'complete corruption, plain and simple' and Ron Johnson said: 'We need whistleblowers to come forward to expose the truth, hold people accountable and restore integrity and credibility to the FBI and federal agencies. We need to get to the bottom of this corruption.'

Zuckerberg said Facebook enacted a policy of 'decreased distribution' to deliberately push down the story on people's newsfeeds to limit its reach, while Twitter went even further and banned the story from its platform.

The billionaire said: 'I think it was five or seven days when it was basically being determined whether it was false. The distribution on Facebook was decreased, but people were still allowed to share it. So you could still share it. You could still consume it.'

Three weeks before the election, the New York Post revealed the sordid contents of Hunter's laptop, showing compromising photos of the then presidential candidate's son and his questionable business dealings implicating his father.

The huge cache of files, emails and photos was seen by many as a smoking gun that could have turned the tide in the election, but social media bosses at Facebook and Twitter minimized the story for unfounded fears it could be Russian misinformation.

DailyMail.com independently verified the laptop with a forensic analysis by top cyber experts and has been regularly publishing revelations ever since, while many other news outlets refused to touch the story.

But now, Zuckerberg has openly admitted how he tried to limit the electorate from accessing the stories in a terrifying insight into how easily democracy can be undermined by tech firms.

Steve Bannon Attacks ‘Transhumanist’ Jared Kushner, Claims He Rushed ‘Experimental Gene Therapy/Vaccine’ in Bid For Immortality

By Alex GriffingAug 26th, 2022

Former Trump White House adviser and campaign manager tore into his one-time West Wing colleague Jared Kushner on Friday after Kushner said he believed he might “live forever.”

Kushner made the odd comments, which sparked a slew of media headlines in a conversation with former Trump official Richard Grenell. Kushner said:

From the last year, the one thing I’ve tried to put a priority on since I left the White House was, you know, getting some exercise in. I think that there is a good probability that my generation is, hopefully with the advances in science, either the first generation to live forever, or the last generation that’s going to die.

So, we need to keep ourselves in pretty good shape.

Bannon had fun with the comment and shared on Gettr a barb aimed at Kushner, calling him a “Transhumanist.”

Bannon added Kushner “believes it’s a real possibility that he could ‘live forever and never die’ put himself in charge of Project Warp Speed, the effort to rush an experimental gene therapy/vaccine through trials toward an Emergency Use Authorization ….now things begin to become clear.”

Encyclopedia Britannica defines“transhumanism” as a “social and philosophical movement devoted to promoting the research and development of robust human-enhancement technologies.”

Bannon, a close ally of former PresidentDonald Trump, also appeared to hit the Trump administration over their quick rollout of Covid-19 vaccines and hinted at the conspiracy theories on the far-right that they were part of some greater devious social engineering plot. Such conspiracy theories recently led Alex Jones to endorse Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for president, saying he “pig-headedly supported [Trump] a few years ago, even though I disagreed with his Warp Speed.”

Proud Boys Founder Gavin McInnes Interrupted Mid-Show, Sparks Theories

By Ewan Palmer On 8/26/22 at 11:39 AM EDT

Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes is the subject of online speculation after his show was interrupted live on air Thursday night, with some people close to him claiming he was arrested.

McInnes, who left the far-right group in 2018, was seen talking to unidentified people off camera during Thursday's live broadcast on his Censored.TV show before getting up and leaving, apparently to go with whoever was speaking to him off-screen.

"We're shooting a show, can we do this another time?" McIness asked. "Alright I'm happy to do that, I'll go get a lawyer and we will sit down and have a conversation, we'll schedule a meeting."

McInnes then walked off-screen. The broadcast kept going with an empty set for at least 30 minutes after McIness left.

It has not been confirmed what the interruption was about, or if it was genuine.

Will Carless, who covers extremism for USA Today, tweeted that the local New York police force say they did not detain McInnes on Thursday so "IF he was arrested tonight, more likely Federal."

An FBI spokesperson told Newsweek that they could not comment.

Carless also noted that McInnes previously told his audience during one of his previous shows that he had spotted an unmarked police car outside of his home.

"Possible set up for a prank? Or premonition of something else?" Carless tweeted.

Will Sommer, who covers politics and extremism for The Daily Beast, later tweeted: "Roughly 12 hours since Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes disappeared during a live broadcast of his show, and it's still not clear whether it's a prank, he was arrested, or something else happened. No confirmation from any law enforcement agencies so far."

Comedian Josh Denny, who also works at Censored.TV, claimed that McIness had been arrested and was currently in custody at an unnamed location.

"Just got off the phone with our people. It's not a bit," Denny tweeted.

Denny also claimed the arrest occured after McInnes spoke out against the Proud Boys attending the January 6 protests in Washington D.C. and the white supremacist "unite the right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017.

"But he's rotting away in jail because he dared to question authority," Denny added.

In a follow-up tweet, Denny denied that McInnes had planned to leave his show mid-broadcast as a stunt after one Twitter shared a clip of McInnes appearing to admit that he would not "be around" next week.

In a post in Telegram on Thursday evening before his show was broadcast, McIness wrote: "Just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100 percent white—even when I'm crying crazy. Yeah, I got law problems, that's the human in me."

McInnes set up Censored.TV in 2019 after departing from Glenn Beck's BlazeTV the previous year.

McInnes was a co-founder of Vice Media but left in 2008. The media company has since cut all ties with McInnes due to his far-right beliefs and ties.

McInnes left the Proud Boys in November 2018 after several of its members were charged after clashing with Antifa activists following a speech he made at the Metropolitan Republican Club in New York.

Monster’ fish eludes capture as Chinese city drains lake, millions watch

Lyric Li - Yesterday 4:21 AM

A furtive “monster” fish caught national attention in China this week as millions of people tuned in to a multiday effort to capture it.

The fish, estimated to be at least 27½ inches long, was first spotted in mid-July by a resident in Ruzhou, a landlocked central Chinese city. Local authorities identified it as an alligator gar — a torpedo-shaped freshwater fish with razor-sharp teeth — and launched an operation to capture it. Officials fear the fish, whose origin is traced back some 100 million years by fossil records, would attack humans.

The “monster” busters faced a challenge: They had to first locate the fish in Yunchan Lake, a 30-acre artificial body of water rife with aquatic plants near the bottom. After two weeks searching in vain, the local government announced it would drain the entire lake.

As the draining neared an end Tuesday, media outlets and Chinese TikTok influencers swarmed to the site for a glimpse of the fish. A live stream by the state-run tabloid Chutian Metropolis Daily attracted more than 37 million viewers, as the hunting team set up searchlights and combed remaining puddles with fishing nets.

“I am starting [a] fire to cook it,” said one commenter on the live stream. Others brainstormed ideas for the search team, with one person proposing the use of Go-Pro-equipped remote-control cars and others suggesting luring it out with a laser pointer.

By the time the search team called it a day late Tuesday, there was still no sight of the fish.

The live-streaming marathon continued Wednesday and Thursday, with gar-related hashtags trending on the Weibo microblogging service. Government officials told local media that the gar could be hiding in an approximately 200-yard-long U-shaped pipeline leading to the lake.

Alligator gars, native to the Americas, were introduced to China as pet fish. They were prized for their quirky look, but many were later abandoned or released into the wild after growing too big. Despite Chinese scientists lobbying for the gar to be added to an inventory of invasive species, it remains readily available in pet stores and on e-commerce sites for as little as a few dollars.

The fish poses a threat to local ecosystems because of its voracious appetite, experts say. It also has few natural predators.

In the United States, where the alligator gar population appears to be in decline, transport and trade of the fish is regulated by federal law. In Washington state, the unauthorized release of an alligator gar into state waters can be charged as a felony.

“When a gar gets released into a river, lake or fish farm here, it will start to devour everything, which can be a great threat to local ecosystems,” said Gu Dangen, an aquatic ecosystems expert at the Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute, who has studied invasive fish species.

The gar can grow up to 10 feet and prefers sluggish bodies of water such as the artificial lake in Ruzhou, he said. The fish may attack humans if it feels threatened, though such incidents are “extremely rare,” Gu added.

A 27-inch, 11-pound gar was caught in an eastern Chinese city last week after a boy was bitten, according to a television network in Jiangsu province.

Members of the search team said Thursday afternoon that they would enter the large water pipe to hunt the gar. But some online commenters started speculating about whether it was worth draining the lake for one fish.

“With all this fanfare, one would think this was about catching the Loch Ness Monster,” one user commented on Weibo.

Gu said local officials meant well but may have overreacted.

“Economically, of course, it’s not worth it. Are we going to drain every lake when we spot gars there?” he said.

Trans Predator In CA Walks Free After Messaging Who He Thought Was Nine-Year-Old Girl About 'Kissing' And 'Touching All Over'

BERKELEY, CA – This past June, Berkeley Police reportedly let a biological male suspected of trying to arrange an illicit encounter with multiple underage girls walk free – despite the fact that police were provided with significant evidence showing the suspect trying to coordinate the meeting so as to sexually abuse the minors.

On August 20th, the anti-pedophile group Predator Poachers shared a video of the June sting where they’d used an online decoy of a nine-year-old girl to see if they’d get contacted by adults for nefarious purposes. During the sting operation, Predator Poachers’ online decoy wound up being contacted by a biological male, who claims to be a woman, identified as Sophia Westfall.

The investigation carried out by Predator Poachers was reportedly months in length, where Westfall had exchanged some unsettling messages with the decoy posing as the nine-year-old girl, with the messages being rather explicit in regards to what Westfall had wanted to engage in with the child.

Alex Rosen, who is part of the operation behind Predator Poacher, spoke with news outlet Reduxx about the investigation into Westfall. “Sophia was one of the reasons we were in California but we actually had multiple suspects in the state,” Rosen stated, noting that Westfall had interacted with two decoys they’d been utilizing between Instagram and Telegram that were using AI-generated photos to maintain the facade with would-be predators who try to entice children on said platforms.

Screenshots of some of the exchanged messages showed Westfall telling the nine-year-old decoy, “Well, you know I love young girls…I’m just excited thinking about how fun it could be to play in bed with both of you.”

The reference to “both of you” in the message from Westfall was in reference to the nine-year-old decoy telling Westfall that she had a younger sibling. From there, the decoy sent a message reading, “I have another sister but she’s probably too young…She’s only 1 lol.” Alarmingly, Westfall responded to the aforementioned with, “That doesn’t bother me. Never too young to start learning.”

The content of the messages continued to get progressively worse from there, with Westfall explicitly telling the nine-year-old decoy what else he’d like to do with her, which included, “Kisses and touching all over. Kissing between your legs, especially!”

When the decoy questioned whether the aforementioned act would be “icky,” Westfall responded with, “Nope. As long as you wash first, it’s not only not icky…it’s an amazingly good feeling!”

Westfall also volunteered details in messages to the decoy about how he’d molest the one-year-old girl referenced in previous messages, saying, “There’s at least some fun ways to touch her even if she can’t help out a lot.” He later texted the decoy, “I’m eager to spend some lovely time with all of you.”

The grooming nature of Westfall’s text messages were in full swing when he told the decoy, “I hope you’re ready to try plenty of new things! As long as you do exactly what I tell you, this should be a wonderful time for everyone.”

When Rosen went to confront Westfall in person after a meeting with the decoy was arranged, Westfall immediately became defensive and was attempting to avoid discussing the messages exchanged with the decoy.

Berkeley Police were eventually contacted and responded to the scene, with Westfall trying to claim he was being harassed by Rosen and his team. Officers at the scene were handed over the evidence – including images of child pornography that Westfall had allegedly sent the decoy – but had simply let the suspect walk free with no further action.

On August 24th, Berkeley Police issued a statement on the matter via Twitter, claiming to have “received a number of questions about the incident” since the video went live online. The excuse given regarding the officers’ inaction during the confrontation was, “When private persons attempt to conduct their own stings/investigations (which may or may not adhere to modern investigative standards), it presents a unique challenge for law enforcement.”

Berkeley Police additionally mentioned, “After being notified about the incident, which occurred in June, officers responded to the location, spoke to the reporting party, the person alleged to have committed the crime, and investigated the incident,” claiming that they’d tried following up with Rosen about the case and he hasn’t provided “information we have requested to continue to the investigation.”

Even more reports surface: Pentagon demilitarizing US Army to shovel weapons into Ukraine black hole

What is going on here exactly?

Extremely concerning. More and more reports are surfacing of the U.S. military “demilitarizing” active duty units — stripping them of their weapons to send to Ukraine. One suspects big handouts to the defense military-industrial complex will soon be on the way — but with the collapse of manufacturing expertise, is the U.S. still capable of making these weapons at scale?

Here is a close-up of the leaked images:

Revolver previously reported on earlier reports saying the same thing here: “Reports: US pulls weapons from active duty, sends them to Ukraine…”

Very strange…

They said it was impossible’: how medieval carpenters are rebuilding Notre Dame

Kim Willsher

Part 1 of 2

At Guédelon Castle the year is 1253 and the minor nobleman, Gilbert Courtenay, has ridden off to fight in the Crusades, leaving his wife in charge of workers building the family’s new home: a modest chateau that befits his social position as a humble knight in the service of King Louis IX.

Here, in a forest clearing in northern Burgundy, history is being remade to the sound of chisel against stone and axe against wood, as 21st-century artisans re-learn and perfect long-forgotten medieval skills.

The Guédelon project was dreamed up as an exercise in “experimental archaeology” 25 years ago. Instead of digging down it has been built upward, using only the tools and methods available in the Middle Ages and, wherever possible, locally sourced materials. Now, in an unforeseen twist of fate, Guédelon is playing a vital role in restoring the structure and soul of Notre Dame cathedral.

Paris’s imposing 13th-century cathedral, a world heritage site, was consumed by fire in April 2019, destroying its complex roof structure, known as La Forêt because of the large number of trees used in its construction. The widespread view was that it would be impossible to rebuild it as it was.

“The roof frame was extremely sophisticated, using techniques that were advanced for the 12th and 13th centuries,” Frédéric Épaud, a medieval wood specialist, tells the Observer.

“After the fire, there were a lot of people saying it would take thousands of trees, and we didn’t have enough of the right ones, and the wood would have to be dried for years, and nobody even knew anything about how to produce beams like they did in the Middle Ages. They said it was impossible.

“But we knew it could be done because Guédelon has been doing it for years.”

A number of the companies bidding for the Notre Dame work have already engaged carpenters trained at Guédelon, and more are expected to beat a path to the Burgundy clearing 200km down the autoroute du Soleil from Paris.

It might be quicker and cheaper to turn wooden beams out of a sawmill – especially with French president Emmanuel Macron’s pledge to reopen the ravaged cathedral in 2024 – but you will not find anyone at Guédelon who believes it should be done that way.

Stéphane Boudy is one of a small team of carpenters at the medieval site, where he has worked since 1999. Boudy, 51, trained as a baker, then an electrician, until discovering his vocation at Guédelon. He explains how hand-hewing each beam – a single piece from a single tree – respects the “heart” of the green wood that gives it its strength and resistance…..

They said it was impossible’: how medieval carpenters are rebuilding Notre Dame

Part 2 of 2

“We have 25 years’ experience of cutting, squaring and hewing wood by hand,” he says. “It’s what we [have done] every day for 25 years. There are people outside of here who can do it now, but I tell you they all came here to learn how. If this place didn’t exist, perhaps the experts would have said: no it’s not possible to reproduce the roof of Notre Dame. We [have shown that] it is.

“This isn’t just nostalgia. If Notre Dame’s roof lasted 800 years, it is because of this. There’s no heart in sawmill wood,” he says.

Maryline Martin is co-founder of the Guédelon project that attracts around 300,000 paying visitors every year and was featured in a 2014 BBC documentary series, Secrets of the Castle. She says the chateau’s blacksmith has been commissioned to make the axes that will cut the wood for Notre Dame, and its carpenters are expected to train others to work on the cathedral.

“It’s prestigious for us that Notre Dame will be restored by many who learned their trade at Guédelon. We are a private enterprise lost in our forest that receives no public money. We work with many state research bodies, but some people wrote us off as a theme park,” she says.

“Now, after 25 years, we are the only ones who can understand and are able to do what has to be done, and they discover we have not sold our soul to the devil. Our people will be working on Notre Dame one way or another, but why would we want to go to Paris? We will continue our 13th-century work here.”

Florian Renucci, the Guédelon site manager and a philosopher turned master mason, has already been asked to oversee training of artisans expected to work on Notre Dame.

“All we heard over and again after Notre Dame burned was that it was not possible to reconstruct the roof as before. There was no wood, no savoir faire – it was an argument used by those who wanted to modernise. We showed that it can be done and we know how to do it,” he says.

Épaud is on the scientific committee at Guédelon and the committee overseeing the reconstruction of Notre Dame, as well as a member of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France’s national research body. He says that going back to build the future is not just nostalgia.

“I have studied the 13th-century technique for many years and, if we respect the internal form of the tree, the beams will last for 800 years. Guédelon is the only place in France, and I believe in Europe, where they build this kind of roof structure in wood. All those who didn’t think it was possible didn’t know about Guédelon.”

He adds: “But it shouldn’t be rushed. Macron’s insistence that the cathedral be open by 2024 is idiotic. We are talking about a cathedral, we’re not in a hurry and we have the money to do it the right way. If we rush it, there’s a risk it [will] be done badly and something is missed. Sadly, I fear Macron doesn’t understand that.”
