Young anon with many same age friends here. We know no matter hard we work we will not currently be able to afford what our parents could at our age. What we earn doesn't seem to matter. Goal posts are always moving out of reach. Housing costs too much, can't afford healthcare, earn enough to get by but then too much tax weighs on the check. Covid and the housing cost rising so much killed all motivation.

I guess it doesn't. I just see a lot of older people trying to break down why young workers are "acting lazy." I am part of the age group where morale has hit the bottom and these are frequent points of discussion so I thought I'd share. We just want to be able to put down roots somewhere and start our lives. It also contributes to why younger people opt to not have kids. We can barely take care of ourselves, so we don't want to bring children into it.

I completely agree. Nothing tore apart the family like men not being able to support a family on one income. It destroyed everything.

BTW for anyone really wondering about young people and having kids, they really want them, I assure you. They want that grandma bringing tea out on the front porch, family bbq, and big birthday party feels. They know they can't afford it though, so they pretend like they're above it. Inside, they're empty.
