"Corning Incorporated announced on Tuesday that it is partnering with Dallas-based AT&T to establish a new manufacturing facility in Gilbert, Arizona to make optical cables that will be used to expand internet access across the West. Corning expects to hire 250 people at the forthcoming facility, which is scheduled to open in 2024. Corning said the new site will be the industry's westernmost U.S. manufacturing site for optical cable. Corning, which is headquartered in the city of the same name in New York state, is working with AT&T to assess demand for high-speed, fiber internet offerings. Corning has invested more than $500 million to expand its fiber and cable manufacturing since 2020."
