Germany reaches limit in arms deliveries to Kiev

The German Army needs its weapons stocks to be able to guarantee national defense, Christine Lambrecht has said

The German Armed Forces can’t send any more weapons to Ukraine if they want to retain their ability to defend their own nation, Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht told the German government on Tuesday. As the defense minister, her focus is Germany’s national security, she added.

“I have to admit, as the Minister of Defense, … we are reaching the limits of what we can give away from the Bundeswehr [stocks],” Lambrecht told the cabinet during a meeting on Tuesday. The German Armed Forces – the Bundeswehr – must be able to “guarantee” security at the regional and national levels, she said, vowing to ensure that this “continues to be the case.”

Germany has been supplying Kiev with various weapons since the onset of the conflict in Ukraine in February. Berlin has delivered Stinger anti-aircraft missile systems, Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, and Gepard anti-aircraft gun tanks to Ukraine, among other weapons.

Lambrecht had previously already said that the Bundeswehr’s ability to supply Kiev with weapons was limited. Germany could not “give away much more,” she warned as early as mid-July.

Meanwhile, the head of the German parliament’s Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, called on the government to continue to supply Ukraine from the Bundeswehr stocks. Germany could especially spare some Marder infantry fighting vehicles, she said last week, adding that this military hardware can then be replaced by the German defense industry.

US government issues statement on biolabs abroad

The facilities have nothing to do with weapons, Washington and its partners insist

Biological laboratories in Ukraine and other foreign countries were never used to develop weapons, the US government claimed on Monday, in a joint statement with other participants in the program.

Nine countries, including Ukraine, are included in the explanation, which was issued months after Russia accused Washington of maintaining a secret overseas germ warfare program.

“Our governments have partnered openly and transparently through the Biological Threat Reduction Program, which is a part of the US Department of Defense Cooperative Threat Reduction Program,” the statement read.

“These partnerships are devoted exclusively to peaceful purposes; they have nothing to do with weapons.”

Apart from the US and Ukraine, the statement was released by Armenia, Georgia, Iraq, Jordan, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and the Philippines.

The countries added that the purpose of the program is to “protect the health of humans and animals in our countries, including in the prevention, detection, and control of infectious disease outbreaks.”

They said the importance of surveillance and response to infectious disease has been highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In March, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had found documents in Ukraine which showed that Ukrainian biological laboratories partnered with the US in research involving dangerous pathogens, such as plague and anthrax. President Vladimir Putin said in April that Russia has evidence that the laboratories were used to develop “components of biological weapons.”

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky denied that Kiev was developing any weapons of mass destruction and said the laboratories were only conducting “ordinary” scientific research.

President Joe Biden said Tuesday while in Pennsylvania that “brave right wing Americans” who claim the Second Amendment is meant to fight back against a tyrannical government would be obliterated by the military.

Biden was speaking in Wilkes-Barre while promoting gun control and bolstering police forces across the nation. Biden pushed for a federal ban on so-called “assault weapons” and took aim at Republicans during his speech, invoking the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

“As one of the most – one of the most conservative justices in history, Justice Scalia, once wrote like, quote, ‘like most rights, the rights granted by the Second Amendment are not unlimited’,” Biden said. “They’re not unlimited right now.”

“You can’t go out and buy an automatic weapon, you can’t go out and buy a cannon, and for those brave right wing Americans who say its all about keeping America independent and safe, if you want to fight against the country you need an F-15. You need something a little more than a gun.”

“No, I’m not joking,” Biden continued. “Think about this. Think about the rationale we use that’s used to provide this. And who are they shooting at? Shooting at these guys behind me.”

Biden was standing in front of supporters, including several members of law enforcement.

Biden has made similar comments, saying in June of 2021 that the Second Amendment is not absolute.

“Those who say the blood of lib – ‘the blood of patriots,’ you know, and all the stuff about how we’re going to have to move against the government. Well, the tree of liberty is not watered with the blood of patriots. What’s happened is that there have never been – if you wanted or if you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s, and maybe some nuclear weapons.”

Biden has called on Congress to pass a ban on “assault weapons and high capacity magazines” shortly after a mass shooter killed 19 children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas. Biden tried to assure Americans that “this is not about taking away anyone’s guns” or “vilifying gun owners.”

“The Second Amendment, like all other rights, is not absolute,” Biden had said.

REPORT: Chuck Todd Possibly On The Chopping Block Over Poor Ratings

An executive for NBC News’s program “Meet the Press” is reportedly deciding whether to replace anchor Chuck Todd due to the show’s declining ratings.

The former executive producer of “Meet the Press,” John Reiss, was given the boot after the show’s ratings fell by 21 percent in total viewership in comparison to last year, the Daily Beast’s “Confider” newsletter reported. Reiss was replaced by long-time CNN producer David Gelles to revive the program.

Gelles is considering replacing Todd, who has hosted the show since 2014, multiple sources told Confider. The move would force Todd out of his two-year contract extension at the network, the outlet reported.

The new executive producer is reportedly planning to hire NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker to take over as the host and have increasingly notable television appearances during the midterm elections.

MSNBC and NBC removed Todd’s “Meet the Press Daily” from their networks and switched it over to a streaming-only option in May. “Chuck can be very difficult — he’s very opinionated — and that has strained some of the relationships internally,” an insider told Page Six.

NBC News has been reached for comment on the matter.

Todd’s departure would follow another major cable news change since CNN canceled its longest running show, “Reliable Sources,” on August 21. The network’s decision forced the program’s host, Brian Stelter, to depart the network.

A new poll from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) has Trump-endorsed candidate Don Bolduc 21 points ahead of Chuck Morse in New Hampshire’s Republican Senate primary.

Bolduc, a retired brigadier general and an Afghanistan veteran, claims former President Donald Trump won the election in 2020. Trump has yet to endorse Bolduc, but the former president has praised the Senate hopeful for his criticisms of Gen. Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

If the primary were held Tuesday, Bolduc would receive 43% of the primary vote, while his opponent Chuck Morse would receive only 22%, according to the UNH poll. Twenty percent of primary voters are still undecided.

The poll, conducted via online between Aug. 25 and 29, surveyed 1,993 individuals with a 3.3% margin of error.

Trump-endorsed candidates have seen success in the primary season, with 92% of Trump-endorsed candidates winning their races, according to Ballotpedia.

‘I Have Plenty More Footage’: DCNF Reporter Obliterates Jean-Pierre On Border With One Tweet

A Daily Caller News Foundation reporter contradicted a claim by White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about the border and the vaccination status of migrants with one Twitter post Tuesday morning.

DCNF investigative reporter Jennie Taer posted a video of migrants walking across the border at a section where border fencing is incomplete on Twitter. Taer tagged Jean-Pierre in the post with the 65-second video.

“And if that’s not convincing, I have plenty more footage of people ‘walking over’…” Taer said in a follow-up post.

Jean-Pierre disputed a statement by Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy that unvaccinated migrants were walking across the border during Monday’s press briefing at the White House while professional tennis player Novak Djokovic was barred from entering the United States for refusing to be vaccinated.

“How is it two different things? Somebody unvaccinated comes over on a plane, you say that’s not okay. Somebody walks into Texas or Arizona unvaccinated, they’re allowed to stay?” Doocy asked.

After some back and forth, Jean Pierre claimed people were not walking across the border.

“That’s exactly what’s happening!” Doocy responded. “Thousands of people are walking in a day.”

Biden Ramps Up Rhetoric Against ‘MAGA Republicans’ In Speech On Crime

President Joe Biden ramped up his rhetoric against “MAGA Republicans” during a Tuesday afternoon speech in Pennsylvania.

Biden traveled to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to speak about how his “Safe America Plan” will help reduce “gun crime and save lives,” according to a schedule provided by the White House. A key portion of the president’s speech was aimed at the GOP, with Biden slamming the defense of January 6 rioters and calls by some within the party to defund the FBI following the raid on Mar-a-Lago.

“You hear some of my friends in the other team talking about political violence and how it’s necessary. Think about this now. Did any of you think … you’d ever be in an election where we talk about, it’s appropriate to use force political violence in America. It’s never appropriate, never. Period. Never, never, never,” Biden said.

“To this day, the MAGA Republicans in Congress defend the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6. Defend them. You all saw it,” the president added.

Biden continued on to directly address his “MAGA Republicans friends in Congress,” arguing that they can’t tell him they “support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened” on January 6.

“Don’t tell me. Can’t do it! For God’s sake, whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? Look, you’re either on a side of a mob or the side of the police,” Biden shouted. “You can’t be pro-law enforcement and pro-insurrection. You can’t be a party of law and order and call the people who attacked the police on January 6 ‘patriots.’ You can’t do it!”

The president ended his comments about the GOP by condemning calls to defund the FBI. Some Republicans have issued such calls after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s Florida home in early August. Biden reiterated his anti-defund the police stand, as well, but didn’t directly speak on the raid itself.

“There’s no place in this country, no place, for endangering the lives of law enforcement. No place. None, never, period. I’m opposed to defunding the police, I’m also opposed to defunding the FBI,” the president said.

Biden’s remarks on Tuesday against the Republican Party mark an escalation for a president who promised to be a unifier when he first came into office. In recent weeks, Biden has begun issuing stronger comments regarding the GOP, describing Republican proposals as “semi-fascism” in a speech Aug. 25.

Prestigious Pfizer Fellowship Tells Whites And Asians Not To Apply

Pfizer’s prestigious Breakthrough Fellowship Program is restricted to black, Latino and Native American applicants, a requirement some civil rights experts say is illegal.

The company’s Breakthrough Fellowship Program is part of a concerted effort to increase racial diversity within its ranks, with a goal of bringing in 100 new fellows by 2025. White applicants are not eligible for participation in the program based on their race, nor are Asians.

Requirements to apply for the program include being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, being a current junior in college and helping to “meet the program’s goals of increasing the pipeline for Black/African American, Latino/Hispanic and Native Americans.”

Civil rights experts told The Washington Free Beacon that the program likely violates civil rights law. Attorney Adam Mortara called the program “flagrantly illegal” and U.S. Commission on Civil Rights member Gail Heriot said it was a “clear case of liability.”

Under a Frequently Asked Questions document on the program, Pfizer describes itself as an “equal opportunity employer” and encourages college students who don’t meet the criteria for the Breakthrough Fellowship Program to apply for one of the other “programs and opportunities” the company offers.

The Breakthrough Fellowship Program offers college juniors a 10-week summer internship, two years of full-time employment after undergraduate graduation, a full scholarship to pursue a two-year graduate program after the two-year employment period and a future job offer after the completion of a postgraduate degree.

“As students receive mentoring and professional development, they also will have the opportunity to grow within the organization, which will lead to parity at all levels to create a vibrant culture where every colleague has the opportunity to succeed,” CEO Albert Bourla said regarding the program.

According to an annual review, the program’s first class of fellows was 55% female, 40% black, 40% “Latinx/Hispanic” and 20% two or more races.

Pfizer has benefitted from the COVID-19 pandemic, seeing record profits thanks to the development of its mRNA COVID-19 vaccine and antiviral pill Paxlovid. The company has openly stated it hopes to continue profiting from the global pandemic, which has killed more than six million people, for years to come.

Washington School Board Unanimously Bans CRT From The Classroom

A Washington school board approved a policy on Aug. 24 prohibiting the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in classrooms.

The Kennewick School Board in Kennewick, Washington, voted 5-0 on a policy which bans educators from teaching students CRT or that “their race determines their value or worth.” The policy requires that students learn “factual” U.S. history in all disciplines at school.

The policy bans “indoctrination” and teaching “the belief that the U.S. is fundamentally or systemically racist.” Curriculums now under review by the passing of the policy should be examined through a lens of “neutrality, objectivity and educational effectiveness”

“Neither preferential nor disparaging treatment shall be applied to learning about any race, and no student shall be taught that their skin color determines their ability to succeed; that their race determines their moral character; or that their race make them responsible for past transgressions of their race,” the policy read. “Moreover, no student shall be taught that their socio-economic status or U.S. citizenship status makes them superior or inferior to others.”

The school board held its annual retreat in June to discuss the creation of the policy prior to the vote, according to the Tri-City Herald.

“Anytime in politics, there’s give and take. Could this have been stronger? I think so. But we had a great discussion in June and everyone was able to voice their concerns and thoughts, and I think we were able to capture that in this policy,” board member Gabe Galbraith told the outlet.

The Kennewick School Board referred the Daily Caller News Foundation to the recording of the meeting when asked for comment.

The Kennewick School District did not immediately respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

RNC not paying legal fees over Trump's Mar-a-Lago document investigation: Report

The Republican National Committeehas so far footed the bill for much of former President Donald Trump's legal woes, though it won't be helping on matters stemming from the FBI’s investigation and retrieval of documents at his Florida estate.

A source told Politico Tuesday that Trump would have to front the legal bill after he hired Florida’s former solicitor general Chris Kise to represent him in the Justice Department's criminal investigation related to the FBI raid of his Mar-a-Lago estate earlier this month. The reasoning behind the RNC's decision is unclear.

The RNC has paid almost $2 million in legal fees to law firms representing Trump between October 2021 and July of this year, according to Federal Election Commission records.

For example, officials at the RNC agreed last December to pay up to $1.6 million for Trump's attorney bills, one of which involves an investigation by New York's attorney general into his private business handling.

FEC reports also showed an additional $50,000 payment was made in June regarding Trump's legal fees.

The former president has repeatedly teased a third bid for the White House, though the RNC has been explicitly clear in its intentions to stop covering his legal bills if he formally announces his 2024 presidential candidacy due to its obligation to stay neutral in the primary.
