Hearing cicadas everywhere in large numbers and saw a live one a couple days ago. Just drove to a town nearby and every half mile or so, the cicadas were raising a racket. Is this their year?

I had no idea there were so many types and so many in Florida. I thought they were all periodical, but I guess some are and some are annual. These must be the generic Florida fall cicadas then. The 17 year ones seem to be farther north for the most part. Regardless, they are out this year like few I can remember. When they get to making noise around dusk it's all you can hear. Outcompete the frogs, which is a tough act after the rain.

Take the collection of responses and pick the wisdom out of it. Remember, a lot of Anons have a superpower, but petting tender feelings isn't usually one of them. Say your piece; if you've got concerns, lay them out. Expect honest answers, sometimes brutally honest ones. Not just on this, but anything. You will come to realize that it saves much time this way. Besides, you learn far more from your adversaries than your teammates. Hear them. Ask yourself, why did they say that?. Sometimes, it's just bc they're a jerk and you can blow it off; sometimes, its bc you exposed a flaw in your reasoning and need to reconsider.

As for your current state. Stop blaming yourself for things you can't change. That's a recipe for psychosis. Ask yourself how you can prevent further similar mistakes and mitigate the damage from this one to the greatest extent possible.
