Project Veritas Exposed Assistant Principal won't hire teachers that sympathize with parents

https://www.projectveritas.com/news/exposed-greenwich-ct-assistant-principals-hiring-discrimination-ensures/

EXPOSED: Greenwich CT Assistant Principal’s Hiring Discrimination Ensures ‘Subtle’ Child Indoctrination; ‘You Don’t Hire’ Catholics Because They Are More ‘Conservative’ … ‘Progressive Teachers’ Are ‘Savvy About Delivering a Democratic Message’

Jeremy Boland, Assistant Principal of Cos Cob Elementary School: “Believe it or not, the open-minded, more progressive teachers are actually more savvy about delivering a Democratic message without really ever having to mention politics.”

Boland: “So, it's subtle. They [teachers I hire] will never say, ‘Oh, this is [a] liberal or a Democratic way of doing this.’ They'll just make that the norm – and this is how we handle things, it's subtle…That's how you get away with it.”

Boland: “The conservative [teacher], who is stuck in her ways. I’ll never be able to fire her, and I’ll never be able to change her. So, I make an impact with the next teacher I hire.”

Boland: “Protestants in this area [of Connecticut] are probably the most liberal. But if they’re Catholic – conservative…You don’t hire them.”

Boland: “If someone is raised hardcore Catholic, it’s like, they’re brainwashed – you can never change their mindset.”

Boland: “For one position, I think we had 30 applicants. So out of all those applicants, I don’t think I interviewed anybody over the [age] of 30…the older you get, the more set in your ways – the more conservative you get.”

Connecticut Law, Section 46A-60B1, specifically bars discriminatory employment practices. A violation occurs if anyone refuses to hire or employ people “because of the individual’s race, color, religious creed, age, sex, gender identity or expression.”

[Greenwich, Conn. – Aug. 30, 2022] Project Veritas released the first video in its newly launched Education Series today exposing a senior official at a prominent public school.

Jeremy Boland, who serves as Cos Cob Elementary School’s Assistant Principal, was recorded bragging about how he oversees the hiring of teachers who will disseminate “progressive” political ideas in the classrooms:

Boland: You’re teaching them [children] how to think. That’s it. It doesn’t matter what they think about. If they think about it in a logical progressive way, that becomes their habit.

Veritas Journalist: So, you kind of like, gear them to think in a more liberal way?

Boland: Mm-hmm. Believe it or not, the open minded, more progressive teachers are actually more savvy about delivering a Democratic message without really ever having to mention politics.

The school administrator noted it is difficult to terminate an employed teacher, so his focus is on who to onboard next:

Boland: Remember that teacher I was talking about before? The forty-year-old? I’ll never change that teacher.

Veritas Journalist: You’re what?

Boland: I’ll never be able to change that teacher.

Veritas Journalist: Which one?

Boland: The conservative one, who is stuck in her ways. I’ll never be able to fire her, and I’ll never be able to change her. So, I make an impact with the next teacher I hire. So, my instinct for hiring – I’ve hired maybe four or five people. They’re pretty good.

Veritas Journalist: Okay.

Boland: So, that’s where I make my impact.

He explains to the Veritas journalist how the teachers he hires will advance his political and ideological objectives:

Boland: So, it's subtle. They [teachers I hire] will never say, “Oh, this is [a] liberal or a Democratic way of doing this.” They'll just make that the norm. And this is how we handle things, it's subtle.

Veritas Journalist: And that's how you get away with it?

Boland: That's how you get away with it.

Veritas Journalist: And how do you make sure the parents don't find out?

Boland: They can find out, so long as you never mention [the] politics of it.

The Assistant Principal is clear about how he judges a prospective teacher who sympathizes, in a hypothetical scenario, with parents during the interview process:

Veritas Journalist: Okay, so someone sides with the parent, then what?

Boland: You let them explain, and then you move on to the next question.

Veritas Journalist: But then eventually [what is] the outcome of that?

Boland: They don’t get the job.

Transgender ideology in school was also an issue discussed in the video. It has been a controversial topic, especially amongst parents, in recent years.

On this matter, Boland affirms that any teacher who refuses to acknowledge a child’s gender preferences has no place in his Elementary School.

p1

>>17472140

“So, if you have someone [teacher] who is hardcore religious or hardcore conservative, they will probably say something detrimental to the effect, ‘Well, I don’t think kids have enough knowledge to make that decision [gender identity] at this age,’” Boland said.

“You’re out. You’re done,” he concluded.

Boland admitted to the Veritas journalist that he discriminates against potential hires based on their religion:

Boland: I’m not a huge expert on religion, but Protestants in this area [of Connecticut] are probably the most liberal. But if they’re Catholic – conservative.

Veritas Journalist: Oh, so then what do you do with the Catholics? If you find out someone is Catholic, then what?

Boland: You don’t hire them.

Veritas Journalist: So, would you ever hire a Catholic then?

Boland: No, I don’t want to…Because if someone is raised hardcore Catholic, it’s like they’re brainwashed. You can never change their mindset. So, when you ask them to consider something new, like a new opportunity, or “you have to think about this differently,” they’re stuck – just rigid.

The Elementary School administrator goes on to say that he discriminates against older individuals as well.

“I need younger [teachers]. So, because Greenwich pays very well, you get teachers from other districts who have been there for a long time, that want to come to Greenwich. But if they’re older, I’m not allowed to do that – I can’t tell them, ‘I’m not interviewing you because you’re older.’ I just don’t interview them. So, for one position, I think we had 30 applicants. So out of all those applicants, I don’t think I interviewed anybody over the [age] of 30…Because sometimes the older you get, the more set in your ways, the more conservative you get.”

Nearly 300 southern Illinoisans have to give up their firearms after gun rights revoked

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/nearly-300-southern-illinoisans-have-to-give-up-their-firearms-after-gun-rights-revoked/ar-AA114k5V

"Ensuring those who pose a significant threat to themselves or others do not have access to firearms is not something law enforcement can do on its own," Kelly said.

Aug. 25—Illinois State Police announced Wednesday that it has forced nearly 300 people in southern Illinois to give up ownership of their firearms after they had their firearms rights revoked.

As part of a "firearms enforcement blitz" from June 16 to July 31 in 41 southern Illinois counties, including St. Clair, Madison, Monroe, Clinton and Randolph counties, state police officers performed 710 "compliance checks," which resulted in 295 people being "placed into compliance" with the state's Firearms Owners Identification Card, or FOID card, law.

Illinois State Police said those placed in compliance had to do the following:

— Surrender their FOID card.

— Transfer all firearms out of their possession.

— Complete a firearms disposition record to detail the guns involved.

"The enforcement details are designed to ensure those who have had their firearm rights revoked are in compliance with the Firearms Owners Identification Card (FOID) Act," the agency said in a news release.

The enforcement details were conducted in all of the state's 102 counties, ISP said in the release. Statewide, 1,027 people were placed into compliance with the FOID law.

"Compliance checks are not about confiscating guns, but about ensuring individuals who have lost their firearms rights to transfer their firearms to law enforcement or someone who is legally able to possess them," Illinois State Police Director Brendan Kelly said during a news conference at the state police's metro-east headquarters in Collinsville.

"Illinois and the nation continue to confront how we as a society can prevent gun violence and there is no one answer or one action that any singular entity can take that will end this violence."

But he noted it takes "many" groups working together to make a difference while respecting a person's rights under the Second Amendment.

He said medical professionals, school administrators and family members can contact law enforcement if they are concerned about someone they believe should not have access to guns.

"It is often the people who interact with a person on a daily basis that notice threatening behavior," Kelly said. "If you see something, say something."

The FOID law actually requires law enforcement officials and school administrators to report to the Illinois State Police when "a student or other person is determined to pose a clear and present danger to themselves or others," according to ISP.

Kelly said there are about 2.4 million people with FOID cards in Illinois and that the state revoked about 20,000 cards in 2021.

East St. Louis Police Chief Kendall Perry joined Kelly in the news conference and he praised the crackdown on FOID card violators.

Are new rules and laws needed?

The Illinois State Police has received temporary permission from state officials for an emergency rule change to broaden the use of "clear and present danger reports" that can bar Illinois citizens from getting a FOID card or cause a revocation of a FOID card, according to a news release by Gov. J.B. Pritzker.

This decision was announced after the July 4th mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, where seven people were killed. The suspect in this case had received a FOID card after a clear and present danger report previously had been filed on him.

"The former administrative rule required a clear and present danger to be 'impending,' 'imminent,' 'substantial' or 'significant,' according to the governor's news release. "Clear and present danger under state law however is more broadly defined requiring 'physical or verbal behavior, such as violent, suicidal, or assaultive threats, actions, or other behavior…'"

Pritzker said the state will seek to make this rule change permanent.

Kelly said Wednesday if state lawmakers consider new gun control laws, his agency would give the legislators information requested, which could be the type of weapons are used in crimes or the firing capacity of guns

"It's the role of the Illinois State Police to provide facts, to provide our subject matter expertise," he said. "We are not a political entity."

"It will be up to them, obviously, to reach whatever consensus is appropriate for the state," Kelly said.

"We've Seen This Before": Wall Street Responds Negatively To Bed Bath & Beyond's New Strategy

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/bed-bath-below-shares-plunge-new-stock-offering-job-cuts-150-store-closures

Update (1251ET): Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. shares plunged as much as 28% after the home-goods retailer published a new business strategy to convince institutional desks it has a credible plan for survival.

We spoke with at least one institutional trading desk specializing in consumer discretionary who said they've all but given up on Bed Bath & Beyond and left the 'meme stock' for the 'apes.'

Several other desks, such as one at Wells Fargo, said the job cut plan, store closures, new financing, and a pivot away from private label leave "plenty of unanswered questions."

Here's what Wall Street is saying about Bed Bath & Beyond (list courtesy of Bloomberg's First Word):

"Following yet another strategic change at BBBY, we can't help but feel like we've seen this movie before—and it didn't end particularly well," writes Wells Fargo analyst Zachary Fadem, who rates the stock underweight, PT $3.

The announcements today, including the capital raise, more restructurings and pending store closures, seemed "inevitable," with comp. declines of ~25% YTD and 1H cash burn of some $820m

Details on near-term operations margins, inventory, cash trajectory, etc. are "simply too slim to be more constructive"

Sees "few reasons" to think comps/margins can "structurally improve from here"

Vital Knowledge's Adam Crisafulli writes that while financing may provide some added "breathing room," it is unlikely to make suppliers "feel that much more comfortable about shipping product to the company."

"Really hard to get excited about this stock given enormous macro headwinds (slowing consumer spending, a post-pandemic shift away from housing-related spending, etc.) and immense company-specific problems," including another "very large free cash outflow," he says

Investors wanting exposure to this segment would find better places for their cash in homebuilders or retailers like RH or ETD

New financing provides a "temporary reprieve from questions about its financial viability," though the issue now becomes whether BBBY can "find ways to lure shoppers back," according to Insider Intelligence senior analyst Zak Stambor.

The retailer will need to start with "sharply distinguishing its brand from the competition," and executing on that strategy is "key"

Effort to use private labels to help BBBY "stand out from the competition" has fallen "flat" as the pandemic "disrupted the global supply chain," and BBBY's "scaled back inventory left customers with few alternatives when an item was out of stock"

In order for BBBY's new Welcome Rewards program or any rewards program, for that matter to be effective, it needs to "clearly and effectively communicate the benefits of the program. That's easier said than done."

Analysts currently have 12 sells, four holds, and one buy on the retailer – this reflects that a turnaround in the company is becoming less likely.

Let the apes have this one…

Update: Following the SEC filing to sell more shares, Bed Bath & Beyond released a statement about its strategic and business update that will result in store closures and a reduction of its workforce. The home-goods retailer also announced new financing commitments.

Bed Bath & Beyond will close approximately 150 lower-producing banner stores. It will also be exiting a third of its Owned Brands by discontinuing three of its nine labels (Haven, Wild Sage, and Studio 3B).

Another cost-cutting measure will be the reduction of 20% of its workforce.

The company also announced it had secured financing commitments of more than 500 million in new financing, including a newly expanded $1.13 billion asset-backed revolving credit facility and a new $375 million "first-in-last-out" facility.

Shares extended declines on the second part of the news following the S-3 shelf filing earlier this morning. Shares are down more than -22%.

Activist investor Ryan Cohen unloaded his shares just before all of this news – how much of his decision to exit the 'meme stock' was based on what was coming down the pipe?

Bed Bath & Beyond shares plunged premarket Wednesday as retailer traders who piled into the 'meme stock' were greeted with an unwelcoming SEC filing by the home-goods retailer to sell shares of its common stock.

"We may offer, issue and sell shares of our common stock from time to time," the form S-3 shelf filing read. Reuters said the stock offering is up to 12 million shares.

Under the "Use Of Proceeds" section of the filing, the company said it would "use net proceeds from any sale of the securities described in this prospectus for our general corporate purposes, which may include repayment of our indebtedness, future repurchases of our common stock and financing possible acquisitions."

Shares in the meme stock plunged as much as 21% as of 0715 ET on fears stock sales would drown the equity.

It's been a rollercoaster of a ride for traders after the stock jumped from a low of $5 at the beginning of August to an intraday high of $30 by mid-month. The stock has since round-tripped after activist investor Ryan Cohen dumped his stake and worries over company finances.

"They are running out of cash and desperately need to raise cash just to keep the business going," Jim Dixon, equity sales trader at Mirabaud, was quoted by Reuters.

30-day volatility in the stock surged to a record high this month on the wild swings.

More than 2 billion shares have changed hands in recent weeks as retail traders flooded into a company with cash burn issues.

Bait containing rabies vaccine dropped in N.B.(2015)

https://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/bait-containing-rabies-vaccine-dropped-in-n-b-1.2532970

The New Brunswick government is taking to the skies to combat rabies throughout Charlotte County in southwestern New Brunswick.

Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries spokeswoman Elaine Bell says the rabies issue has turned into a big concern.

“Rabies is a very serious disease and that’s why we encourage people to please vaccinate your pets against rabies,” she said. “Enjoy wildlife from a distance and if you do see unusual behavior from raccoons or skunks to report it.”

Bell says the Charlotte County area has seen 21 confirmed cases of the disease, 19 in raccoons and two in skunks, since May 2014.

She says exposure to the bait is not harmful to people or pets, but if exposure happens, the province recommends seeing a doctor or veterinarian as a precaution.

“They contain fat, wax, little bit of vegetable dye, a marshmallow or vanilla flavouring, and most importantly, a liquid rabies vaccine,” said Bell.

The government is spending $600,000 on the program this year.

"Oral vaccination is a cost-effective method of vaccinating a large number of wild animals over a wide-ranging area in a short period of time," a news release said.

The area being covered is all of Charlotte County, from Penfield to St. Stephen.

One hundred and seventy thousand vaccines have been distributed, with 150,000 distributed by plane and the rest by hand.

A provincial rabies committee was formed earlier this year to develop a long-term plan to deal with the spread of rabies in the Charlotte County area.

Bell says before May 2014, there had been no confirmed cases of rabies in the province in 12 years.

The Department of Natural Resources plans to finish the bait drop on Tuesday.

Discredited rabies vaccine production

https://www.ad-international.org/animals_in_entertainment/go.php?id=410&ssi=0#

Posted: 22 March 2006

1

Sheep are suffering in the most appalling and inexcusable manner, to produce a rabies vaccine that has been discredited by the World Health Organisation (which has recommended a global ban), and which is already banned by several State goverments in India including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala1.

The Semple or Neural Tissue Anti-Rabies Vaccine (NTV or ARV) is outmoded. There is a safer vaccine available, which is produced from human cells, without animal suffering.

NTV is made by injecting rabies virus into the brains of living sheep through a hole drilled into their skulls. After one to two weeks the sheep become paralysed and are then killed by decapitation so that their brains can be removed1 and homogenised in a blender. The virus is inactivated by physical or chemical means2. Annually, 35,000 litres of anti-rabies vaccine are produced by this shocking method, using 30,000 sheep.

NTV causes suffering not only to the sheep involved but also to many of the human patients injected following a bite from a potentially infected animal. A series of 14-21 painful injections of inactivated virus vaccine is given into the skin of the abdomen to produce antibodies (blood proteins which attack foreign invaders) to the rabies virus2. Side-effects range from painful abdominal swellings, asthma and nosebleeds to serious nerve complications resulting in paralysis and death, and can affect up to 70% of vaccine recipients.

1

The Tissue Culture Vaccine (TCV) is produced, as its name indicates, in a culture dish. Tissue cultures, commonly grown from human cells, are infected with a strain of rabies. The virus is then inactivated, purified and administered by 4-6 injections into the arm. In addition to being a humane alternative option and being more potent it is safer for people too, having no known side-effects.

The Indian Ministry of Health appears unwilling to abandon the outdated sheep brain vaccine and comply with the WHO´s recommended ban and switch to the TCV. All other countries, with the exception of Tunisia, have already done so. Cell culture vaccines cost around a hundred times more than the nerve tissue vaccine but the financial cost should be weighed against the cost in animal and human suffering.

Three centres in India are already producing TCV. The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) is currently producing around 4 million vials of the TCV but is reported to have the capacity to meet the entire 14 million vial requirement for the entire country and has said it is prepared to drop the price.

The NAVS is calling for this method of rabies vaccine production to be banned.
