Critical Race Theory and the other Critical and Marxian Theories should be considered religious under the First Amendment and removed completely from the public sector, including schools. This is my expert opinion.
All of them have at their heart a religious faith in a dialectically progressing History (roughly, their God) and spiritual forces in the forms of "systemic power dynamics," of which we are but playthings. They are religiously collectivist and prohibit disagreement and questions.
Their God is not a transcendent Deity that is but rather an immanent Deity that becomes through the "life process" of humans, i.e., thinking in alignment with their specific doxa. That, they believe, is only possible in (Gnostic) faith, which they call "consciousness."
They have a defined eschatology: when sufficiently many people have awakened consciousness, a purifying (Rapturous) event called "revolution" will occur. On the other side is a tribulation (dictatorship of the enlightened) followed by a Utopia (communism, liberation, justice).
They have a defined soteriology: praxis, the application of Theory in practice. It is described as a "lifelong commitment to self-reflection, self-critique, and social activism" in which "no one is ever done."
They have a defined theodicy: the dialectical process—"History uses people and then discards them"in a process of exposing and synthesizing the "contradictions" of the existing system (spiritual state of society).
They have a defined notion of judgment: being "on the right side of History." Just as they look back and judge the bigots and oppression of earlier generations, so too do they believe all shall be judged by the Eye at the End of History.
This means they have a religious duty: to raise the critical consciousness and to encourage social activism in accordance with its vision such that the revolution arises, the awakened gain power, the tribulation is managed, and justice as Utopia emerges. They must do the work.
Once it is grasped that the heart of the "Woke" (Theory) worldview is a religion of this type, evil and inverted though it might be, all of its activities are immediately comprehensible. Our First Amendment exists in part to protect such beliefs and our citizens from them.
