https://www.dailyfetched.com/russia-cuts-off-gas-supply-to-france-as-country-faces-energy-disaster/

Russia has severed its gas supply to a major energy company in France as the country’s Prime Minister warned that fuel rationing over the winter is now likely.

Russia cut down on the amount of gas to the European state, as France now faces losing its much relied upon energy exports on Tuesday.

France would effectively force its householders to ration the use of energy this winter, while begging the industry in the state to also reduce their usage.

Le Figaro reported that the Russian state gas company Gazprom announced that it was reducing the amount of gas it is sending to French energy company Engie with immediate effect.

Engie said the abrupt reduction was down to a “disagreement between the parties on the application of contracts.”

But the firm later claimed it had already taken steps to ensure customers would be protected from such a reduction.

“…ENGIE had already secured the volumes necessary to ensure the supply of its customers and for its own needs, and implemented a series of measures to significantly reduce the direct financial and physical impacts that could result from interruption of gas deliveries by Gazprom,” a press release from the company read.

Although the company seems confident it won’t be negatively affected, members of the French government are expressing concern about the sudden exit of Russian fossil fuel exports from the EU.

The “end of abundance”

French President Emmanuel Macron warned last week that his country was facing the “end of abundance.”

Macron warned the public they need to “agree to pay the price” of what he termed “our freedom and our values” by enduring the hardships of a sudden drop in living standards.

The country’s Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, echoed Macron’s comments, warning the state could soon have to begin rationing energy.

Borne issued the warning while speaking to French business leaders, begging them to do everything they could to reduce their power usage to avoid limiting energy use.

“If we act collectively, we can overcome the risk of shortages,” she said.

“But if each one of us fails to do our part, or if all negative outlooks come to fruition at once, we will have to impose a decrease in consumption,” she added.

“If we end up with rationing, companies will be the first hit and unfortunately we need to be prepared for it,” she concluded.

Borne also requested that companies appoint an “energy sobriety ambassador” to help cut usage.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/exhibit-q-elon-musk-cranks-up-effort-to-scrap-twitter-deal-with-explosive-new-claims_4698467.html

.. Exhibit Q

The document labeled Exhibit Q references the disclosure by Zatko, who also is known by his hacker handle “Mudge,” noting that it “alleges far-reaching misconduct” at Twitter that is “likely to have severe consequences for Twitter’s business.”

Zatko’s claims in the disclosure include accusing Twitter of “extreme egregious deficiencies” in the way it handled user information and alleging it had falsely claimed to federal regulators that it had a solid security plan.

“Twitter is in material noncompliance with both its obligations under a 2011 FTC consent decree and its general obligations under data privacy, unfair trade practice, and consumer protection laws and regulations,” Exhibit Q states.

Twitter also had difficulty identifying—much less restricting—the presence of foreign agents on its platform, Zatko claimed in his disclosure, while asserting that Chinese entities gave money to Twitter, raising concerns that these entities could access sensitive information about Twitter users.

“Twitter acquiesced to demands made by the Indian government that its agents be hired by Twitter and given access to Twitter user information,” Exhibit Q says. ..

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/08/30/snap-will-lay-off-20percent-of-staff.html

Snap is laying off 20% of its workforce, which equates to over 1,000 employees, according to a report published Tuesday by the Verge.

The layoffs will begin on Wednesday, the report said, and will affect certain departments including hardware and developer products.

Snap has had a difficult year, with the company most recently missing on both revenue and earnings in the second quarter. In its Q2 investor letter on July 21, Snap said it would not provide guidance for its current quarter and said “forward-looking visibility remains incredibly challenging.”

Snap shares dropped more than 25% on the day it reported its second quarter earnings. The company’s disappointing results kickstarted a wave of social media companies reporting poor results, citing a weak online advertising market, among other reasons.

Facebook-parent Meta also missed analysts’ estimates for its second quarter, as did Pinterest.

The social media companies blamed some of their problems on businesses cutting back on digital advertising because of the weak economy. Additionally, these companies have said that a 2021 privacy update to Apple’s iOS has made it more difficult for them to track users, thus negatively impacting their online ad units.

Earlier in August, Snap scrapped the development of its Pixy flying camera drone, first announced in April.

Snap declined to comment on the report.

https://justthenews.com/government/courts-law/ice-confirms-suspected-cop-killers-are-illegal-immigrants

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed that Mexican brothers suspected of killing a North Carolina sheriff's deputy are illegal immigrants.

Alder Alfonso Marin Sotelo, 25, Arturo Marin Sotelo, 29, and Rolando Marin Sotelo, 18, all entered the country illegally, according to the Washington Times.

Alfonso and Arturo face charges of murdering North Carolina Sheriff's Deputy Ned Byrd, 48, on Aug. 11 in Raleigh. Rolando has not been charged in connection with Byrd's death, but he does face a charge for ammunition possession, per the outlet.

Arturo was caught in 2010 attempting to cross the border but authorities stopped him and sent him back to Mexico. He returned at an unknown date. Rolando was first caught in Arizona in 2019. He was subsequently deported and later reentered the country under a "parole" exemption, the Times noted.

The Department of Homeland Security under Alejandro Mayorkas has made significant use of parole to release illegal immigrants into the U.S. interior while they await their court date. At least 120,600 illegal migrants were released from Customs and Border Protection custody under this rule as of May.

Alder received a citation in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 2021 for illegal possession of a firearm, but authorities dropped the case when he twice failed to appear in court, the Washington Times reported.

Amid record migration figures, the Biden administration has faced intense scrutiny for its lax approach to border enforcement. Public pressure and a further migration surge ultimately resulted in the White House quietly ordering the continued construction of the border wall, former President Donald Trump's signature project which Democrats firmly resisted. ..

https://justthenews.com/government/courts-law/starbucks-shareholder-sues-company-over-diversity-policies

A Starbucks shareholder is suing the company and several of its leaders over a string of diversity policies they allege constitute unlawful discrimination.

The National Center for Public Policy Research filed the complaint Tuesday on the plaintiff's behalf, pointing to company policies of racial hiring quotas, tying executive pay to diversity, and preferring "diverse" suppliers and advertisers, according to Reuters.

Starbucks announced several of these policies in October 2020, amid rising racial tensions nationwide in the aftermath of George Floyd's death, the outlet noted. The company aims to put diverse persons in 30% of its corporate posts and 40% of its retail and manufacturing positions by 2025.

The complaint names interim CEO Howard Schultz and 34 other current and former executives as defendants, saying it "benefits them personally to pose as virtuous advocates of 'Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity,' even as it harms the company and its owners."

The plaintiff seeks to both halt the policies and to require Schultz and the other executives to pay damages directly to Starbucks.

Starbucks announced a string of store closures earlier this year, citing dangerous environments that had made the stores unsafe. It also earned a place in the headlines after firing employees for attempting to unionize, ultimately winning the court battle in that case.

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/democrat-mary-peltola-defeats-sarah-palin-alaska-special-election

Democrat Mary Peltola has defeated former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin in the state's special election to fill the vacant House seat left by the late GOP Rep. Don Young.

The Associated Press called the race for Peltola, who took 51.5% of the vote.

Palin and Peltola advanced to a general election as two of the top four finishers in an open primary on June 11, per Ballotpedia. The pair subsequently moved on to a one on one matchup.

The Democrat will represent the deep red state for the remaining months of Young's term, but will have to face a reelection effort in November to win a full term in office. The state traditionally favors Republicans by wide margins, making Peltola's victory a significant upset. Both candidates will appear on the ballot in the November election to serve a full term.

Young died in March of this year, after serving as the state's only House representative since 1973.

Also in November will be a closely watched Senate race in which Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski will try to fend off GOP challenger Kelly Tshibaka and two other candidates. Both former President Donald Trump and the Alaska GOP have endorsed Tshibaka.

>aww flip flop's final final flip flops

https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/health/dr-robert-malone-many-people-who-had-coronavirus-developed-natural-immunity

Dr. Robert Malone suspects that Dr. Anthony Fauci's decision to step down from his high-profile roles at the pinnacle of the federal public health establishment is due to his sagging popularity ahead of the November midterms.

"There's clearly some major turbulence going on within HHS right now," the mRNA vaccine pioneer-turned critic said in an interview on the "Just the News, Not Noise" television show. "I suspect it's driven by the polls and the upcoming election."

Fauci announced on Aug. 22 that he would be stepping down from his duties as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief White House medical adviser at the end of the year and entering a new chapter in his life.

"I found that fascinating," Malone told cohosts John Solomon and Amanda Head. "It was totally unexpected, I think, by any of us. And of course, there's been no hints — other than Fauci suggesting that he's going to work on his books and do what he can to mentor other young young scientists and promote the development of science and the enterprise."

Fauci has served as NIAID director since Ronald Reagan's first term as president.

Malone is skeptical that the U.S. can vaccinate its way out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It appears that the majority of us have had our coronavirus infections, have developed natural immunity, it's relatively protective" Malone said. "The virus seems to be evolving to be less pathogenic, but more infectious — a normal pathway. And I don't have a good crystal ball right now, but I as a vaccinologist, I've always been wary that we were going to succeed in developing a safe and effective coronavirus vaccine."

Fauci admitted last month that the COVID vaccines don't protect "overly well" against COVID.

https://justthenews.com/government/congress/rep-crist-resigns-congress-amid-heated-florida-governors-race

Rep. Charlie Crist, Florida's Democratic nominee for governor, is resigning Wednesday from Congress – leaving the House seat vacant until after the November midterms.

Crist, a former Florida governor, is trying to unseat GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis and, as with most gubernatorial races, is in the final busy weeks of campaigning throughout the state.

However, he did not give an explanation about why he resigned from his seat in the state's 13th Congressional District, along Florida's Gulf Coast, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Crist was elected to Congress in 2016. He served as Florida governor from 2007 to 2011.

Republican Anna Paulina Luna will face off against Democrat Eric Lynn to fill Crist's seat.

https://justthenews.com/government/security/nsa-deploys-election-security-group-protect-midterm-elections

The National Security Agency and Cyber Command has deployed its Election Security Group (ESG) to combat foreign cyber operations aimed at disrupting U.S. elections ahead of the November midterm contests.

“Thousands of people are going to work every day to defend the elections from foreign threats, from generating insights to sharing information to imposing costs by degrading and disrupting foreign adversary activity,” ESG spokesperson Katrina Cheesman said to the Washington Times.

The team traces its roots to a small group of specialists created to combat Russian election interference during the 2018 midterms, according to the outlet. At that time, pundits and politicians were pushing a narrative that the Trump campaign actively conspired with agents of the Russian government to hand the 2016 presidential election to the Republican.

Russian and North Korean hackers have been prominent sources of cyberattacks throughout the year, even prior to Moscow's February invasion of Ukraine.

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency earlier in February warned of Russian efforts to target U.S. defense contractors.

North Korean hackers in April reportedly pulled off a large-scale cryptocurrency theft of Etherium amounting to $620 million U.S.D.

https://justthenews.com/government/security/abe-hamadeh-ive-committed-classifying-cartels-terrorist-organizations

Republican candidate for Arizona attorney general, Abe Hamadeh, joined Just the News, Not Noise, with John Solomon and Amanda Head to discuss cartels at the southern border and how there needs to be a tougher penalty for crossing the border illegally.

"My concern is the cartels," Hamadeh said, referring to his main priority if elected in November. "The cartels are sophisticated operations and that's why on day one, I've committed to classifying the cartels as terrorist organizations, so we can have enhanced sentencing when we start processing them."

According to Hamadeh, the drug cartels have been bringing over fentanyl in large amounts, making the crisis worse.

"With all the illegal immigrants who are coming, there's fentanyl pills," Hamadeh emphasized. "I mean just the other week, we had fentanyl pills that looked like candy that was coming across the border. So this is no longer a crisis; this is a disaster. And it's completely created by the federal government's neglect."

Last week, Arizona GOP governor Doug Ducey made an announcement which stated that 3,820 feet of previously open border near Yuma, Arizona was closed with a barrier of double-stacked and secured shipping containers.

“Five wide open gaps in the border wall near Yuma neighborhoods and businesses are now closed off," Ducey's statement read. "In just 11 days, Arizona did the job the federal government has failed to do — and we showed them just how quickly and efficiently the border can be made more secure – if you want to.”

Hamadeh emphasized the importance of the states taking care of the border situation since the Biden administration has failed to do so. ..
