Raimondo: We know the economy is transitioning, We are moving away from fossil fuels to clean energy…we are moving towards a more digital economy, a more technical economy. We're going to retrain workers, we're going to retrain small businesses. And we're going to light up abandoned buildings that may have once trained coal miners, and today will train solar installers.

Mr. Biden: I drive my cabinet crazy, and my staff crazy, by asking them to give concrete examples, that if you walked up to somebody on the corner, and said, that they completely understand.

Mr. Biden: There are hundreds of small companies, supplying small parts to internal combustion engines…that is not going to be useful in an electric vehicle. We're going to train that company, ownership of that company, what parts they can contribute to make that vehicle. I'll give you a concrete example…

Reporter: Do you consider all Trump supporters to be a threat to the country?

Mr. Biden: You keep trying to make that case. I don't consider any Trump supporter a threat to the country. I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, fails to condemn violence when it's used, refuse to acknowledge when an election has been won, [inaudible], that is a threat to democracy. Everything we stand for rests on the platform of democracy. People who voted for Donald Trump, support him now, they weren't voting for attacking the Capitol, They weren't voting for overruling the election. They were voting for a philosophy he put forward.

Reporter: [Biden] last night argued very forcefully that democracy is under assault, but what kind of concrete actions does he actually plan to take, given as he described this essentially as an existential threat to the American public?

Jean-Pierre: He believes we are at an inflection point…what [Biden] did last night was incredibly powerful.

Reporter: Is there any action behind his words?

Jean-Pierre: The action is making your voices heard.

Reporter: Can you address the criticisms and questions about why [Biden] delivered what sounded like a politically-charged speech, as an official White House event, with two Marines in uniform flanking him, and visible on camera?

Jean-Pierre: The way we see it…standing up for democracy is not political. Denouncing political violence is not political. Defending rights and freedoms is not political. Making clear that the challenged facing the nation is not political…the presence of the Marines at the speech was intended to demonstrate the deep and abiding respect [Biden] has for these service members.

Reporter: Where does [Biden] think the line should be drawn for having members of the military who could be perceived as being part of stagecraft for an address?

Jean-Pierre: For him, this was not a political speech. This was an opportunity, in prime time, to talk to the American people.

Reporter: Can the American people expect any sort of policy roll out underlying the speech, to actually address the threat to democracy?

Jean-Pierre: [Biden] was trying to…give Americans a choice. How do we move forward in this inflection point.

[the choice was made in 2020…it has not changed; President Trump's support has only multiplied]

Reporter: How much coordination is there between the administration and social media companies?

Jean-Pierre: I don't have anything to share with you on that. I'm not going to comment on that right this time.

Reporter: The attorney generals from Missouri and Louisiana say there is a vast censorship enterprise across a multitude of federal agencies.

Jean-Pierre: I'm just not going to comment at this time.
